Just seems a bit like you have an obsession, now 3 videos deep in the last page and a half regarding the same performance, with your first shared tweet bitching about it. Granted, you may not have been and just found it funny, but obviously I read the tweet first and then saw multiple post of the same song.

Just seemed political, that's all. Though lately, I feel like a lot of that has happened on GAF, and it's making me get a bit more politically charged which I truly prefer not to be / do on here. I realize that is backwards logic, just explaining how I got to that point. My apologies if I simply misunderstood, just seems a lot of crossover has been happening here lately.

It's funny if that BB song was sung by anyone else my mother would hate the artist but BB is Puerto Rican so she just lets it slide.

It's a fair take by you, like I said above ^ I am seeing more crossover on GAF with politics entering near every dang OT thread, which in turn is probably making me see it more often even when it isn't there.

I will own that as a possibility.

I notice it too with GAF being the centre/right counterweight to Era. In this case, I think we are good. Comedians have been mocking the decline of country for over a decade with jokes about all songs involving some permutation of fishing, trucks, beer, and America. South Park covered the phenomenon of country and mainstream pop being surrogates for political parties over 20 years ago. The two halftime shows are like a terrible sequel to discuourse around 2003's wars.

Personally, I thought people were mocking the performers for being shit. I didn't understand the fish jokes at first because I grew up around people who spoke like the artist; I only hear "catch". I still don't really get the connection even though I enjoy the result.

if you told me that country song was literally a parody made for a South Park episode, I'd not question it... that's how fucking hilarious it is.

the bad bunny shit is just shit pop rap... not nearly as memeable. especially since noone understands anything he's singing... even spanish speakers make fun of how fucked up his pronunciation is and that they have no idea what he's saying.

the reason that country song is so hilarious is because it quite literally follows all the stereotypes that people make fun of in modern country music.
it's like someone deliberately made the worst, most cringe country song imaginable.
and the fact that the way his sings catch at the beginning sounds like he's saying kiss made it an instant meme.

and I honestly can't hear catch, even if I try to hear it. like with those misheard Lyrics type thing where reading the wrong lyrics makes it sound like that's actually what they're singing. even if I want to hear catch, knowing it is supposed to be catch, I still hear kiss. I actually think he accidentally did in fact sing kiss, or kitch or something.
like, that vowel is clearly an /ɪ/ you can't convince me otherwise 🤣 maybe a freudian slip?


even this parody from 8 years ago is less on the nose 😭 (and far more catchy!... like, I unironically love this song)
