I'm not a fan of how much it messes with the lighting, but then, I'm not really interested in playing the game with this sorta stuff anyway. Interesting to see an attempt at it, though.

I tried as well not long ago. Thinking I was that joyful teenager that still enjoyed life and could master tank controls. Turned out I wasn't. And neither could do the tank controls either.
Which is sad because I own the entire main series except 0 and 1 since they haven't been properly remaked yet. Yes we need another remake for 1.

Isn't it updated to have more modern controls? Anyway, this looks nice. I'll just wait for REmake REmake.
The "modern controls" were trash. They were more confusing than the regular tank controls and looked bad in motion. 1 needs a remake remake as you said.

The textures look good, but that cinematic photography-style color and lighting they had there artistically is gone. I think there's a pretty noticeable loss in the art because of that.

Personally I'm not a fan. What's that panel texture supposed to be, leather? Don't get me wrong, the standard HD port textures are far from perfect. But two wrongs don't make a right.

I'm always baffled by people that can't handle tank controls. Up goes forward, down goes backwards, left and right turn. What could be simpler? Use the d-pad instead of the stick and you'll be fine.

Some pros. Some negatives. It makes some of the paintings far too detailed. Like if the camera is that far away, you aren't going to make out small tiny details on a hanging photo/painting. But this mod makes it crystal sharp which looks weird.

It need to be pushed through the AI process one more time with a focus on matching the value range of the original.

Still really good start so far.

Mfers will still be like "I need a remake tho :/"

So they can retcon the narrative to include molded and you can pull blammers out no repercussions on zombies.

Most of it looks really good, some of it looks a bit odd. But still really cool to see.

Man, I know the remake isn't THAT old, but I'm one of the few that wishes we'd get a new over the shoulder remake of RE1 on the RE Engine.

Cool for those that will make use of it. The RESCALE mod is more faithful though.

For modern LCD displays, I still think the GC version with a decent CRT shader looks better than any of the AI upscales.

Can you tell me how? I'm new to the modding scene. This looks pretty cool.
As modding goes, it's a pretty light lift. Just a case of replacing the 'sa', 'Arc' and 'ArcPC' folders in the original install with the modded versions.

That's pretty much it. If you're on a Steam Deck you'll need to switch to Desktop mode. I'd strongly recommended plugging it into a monitor with mouse and keyboard too, just for ease.

It's lost the cold/grit of the OG. Maybe something like reshade can restore it, while using the pack?
Yeah, it was intentional on the part of the modder. For me, it's a much closer in feel to the PS1 original, which is forever in my heart, so this kinda meshes the best of both for me. Definitely a matter of taste though.

I figured it out. I like it. Was playing for most of the night. It's nice to have another playthrough with a different look.

It looks very interesting. That being said is really hard for me to go back to fixed cameras after experiencing over the shoulder gameplay in Resident Evil
I usually dont have issues with camera, textures and so on for old games/remasters....But i draw the line on controls.

Oh great… Do we really need to see more of this?

EDIT: I guess it doesn't look bad, just using AI still feels wrong.
