This does not make sense. its gonna do way more on current gen. you are comparing to GTA 5 but GTA5 did not talke 13 years later to come, it been 13 years of pent up demand for the next GTA. we see the most hyped and biggest launch for a game ever and it won't be close to anything we have seen before.

Guys...PS5 only surpassed PS4s MAU in...2024! Next gen will be even harder.
If PS6 releases in 2028, it might surpass PS5 by 2032 in terms of MAU if things go as "smoothly" as this gen...which will probably not.
And you think Sony is more worried about selling GTAVI on PS6? They want those sales, and specially that GTA Online money and their users are on PS5, not on a console that's not out yet for maybe years.

The record is nice i guess but it doesn't solve the problem that sales are fading in the west. it's easy to break a record when console launches never have supply and switch 2 get a full holiday boost 6 months later you take out those facts and its impressive.

I think not even rockstar expected gta 5 to do as well as it did. I think gta 6 will break all records. Gta5 came off after gta 4 which sold around 15-20mil copies, gta6 is coming off after gta 5 which has sold 200million+, I don't think we have anything before or possibly even after that was/will be on the same scale.

its called a extremely safe prediction by nintendo to please investors when they raise it. even nintendo said the sales in the west are slower then expected. I don't think anyone could argue this anymore. it had the weakest november, December and january compared to switch 1 7 years on the market and by a big amount.

I keep telling some people that think the PS5 is going to sell worse than the PS4 launch aligned that they are very wrong and to watch out for GTA6 but they keep being in denial.

PS5 sold more last quarter and again surpassed Switch 2 in January in the US, quite good for a system that's over 5 years old and I think nobody expected that when GTAVI come out it's going to sell like crazy.

I will say, Nintendo needs to have some banger directs coming up, because nothing as of now on the horizon is going to move units to a large degree in the foreseeable future.
And yes, I know Nintendo is still on track to hit their revised forecast of 19 million units.

In the last 15 years, only 2013, 2018 and 2024 had January with 5 weeks.

Price of entry to play gta5 was $249/$299 on ps3, 360 could be had for $199 I think.
Definitely a shitload of ps4 owners that have yet to move to ps5, and gta6 may well be the tipping point.
