Phil Spencer damaged the industry for ever.
Sarah Bond has always been a joke, repeating whatever shitty excuse they told her.

I hope Hulst joins their club soon and they all meet with Jim Ryan in the "i suck shareholders cock" secret sect.
 
Ugh… Not good news, IMO. Phil being out is whatever, but Matt Booty is so much worse. This feels like Jim Ryan to Herman Hulst all over again.

Internally, I doubt MS ever cared about Xbox as a gaming console, it was always a Trojan Horse to control the living room, back when "Web TV" was still the popular vision of the future.

They killed the first Xbox after four years to save money because it was basically a quickly put together PC sold at a loss. Xbox360 was their only truly good machine in terms of how it made the most of cost effective yet powerful tech that was emerging at the time.

Epic Games convinced them to double the RAM, which cost them a lot of money. By the second half of the generation they were already chasing casual trends with Kinect and people like Kudo Tsunada.

Xbox One was supposed to be all about TV. And this generation was basically a poorly thought out Hail Mary.

Any good exclusives that came out of these systems was despite Microsoft rather than because of it.
 
This woman has the weirdest resume, it just reads like she came from money and she just got c-suite jobs for no discernable reasons 🤔

One of the main responsibles for Microsoft being 100% dependent on external AI and wasting hundreds of billions of dollars for virtually no ROI is becoming the head of Xbox. I mean, at least that means they'll be investing a lot more money to get the gaming division back on track, right?

Wild that the new person is leaving huge growth AI segment to lead declining gaming.

Either they fired Sarah Bond and are giving her good PR/next job search cover, or she assumed she was the next in line and left from being fed up. Imagine having to pose with Klobrille.

AI woman is effectively being demoted, MS's internal AI is the laughing stock of the industry and is overwhelmingly considered to be in dead last place among every other company doing AI.

Not even a joke either. That was exactly what myself and a few others were saying in the ABK acquisition thread. That Kottick would have actually been a no-brainer move if they wanted Xbox to really succeed. Say what you want about his personality, that dude transformed Activision into a juggernaut and knew how to work the business like few others.

I think this is the second time in twelve months where these idiots at MS don't let bad Sony news to rest for a couple of days and give them the time to let sink in with the public. Nobody at the wheel nowhere.

Anyways fantastic news but 9 years too late. The damage is done.
 
If, and that's a BIG IF, Sarah Bond was dened a promotion because of this change and decided to leave MS instelad of been treated like a clown... she strangely deserves LOTS of respect.

This is an interesting take and I hadn't thought about it that way. It's true everybody sees copilot as a joke so this is a demotion when Microsoft is laser focused on AI.
