vastly prefer RE4 remake. I been playing horror games all my life and once you understand its about running and saving ammo the game becomes a cake walk.

People slate Mr X but it creates excellent moments like this where you're forced to make decisions on the fly
I can probably sneak past the Licker, then grab the items (I already put in the first keyboard key), the problem is when Mr. X will show up and I need to bail I am fucked, since I cannot run with the Licker outside. I can probably run straight in the West Office without getting hit, but that corridor will be out of use for the rest of my time there. Need to see if there is anything worthwhile left there, I don't think so.
Cyberpunkd Cyberpunkd dont sleep on RE3R and ignore the negativity. Experience yourself.
For sure, I plan to play everything after requiem, except 5-6-7-8.

5 is still worth playing IMO. If you like the original RE 4, there's no good reason to skip 5 if you'd like an encore of that gameplay. It's not as good, no, but I found it enjoyable. It'd probably be even better if you have a friend to co op it with.

Mr X gives a real legit Terminator 1 feel whenever he's coming after you. Nothing else like it to me. It's thrilling all these years later still after the dozenth time.

Fuck, that was intense.

So I tried twice to go around the Licker next to Storage Locker room, but I couldn't do it. Tried to lure it back to the stairs but it looks like there is an invisible wall that prevents him from moving from the hallway. The hallway is imo too narrow for me to walk around without him being on the wall.

So I decided to backtrack through the third floor and go to the main hall. Then I ingested R+B herbs because I just decided to walk to the Records Room - there is a Licker in there + Mr.X will get alerted immediately. Worked fairly well, didn't grab the gunpowder though, I was rushing too much.

Then I went to the Library where of course he showed up, so kited him a bit while I pushed the final staircase, went up, ran to the clock tower…and promptly discovered I forgot to grab the large gear.

Reloaded, did everything, grabbed the parts, ran back to the jail, triggered the cutscene. Now I'm going back to grab everything from the station first.

Ok, sewer time. That Ada segment was not really impressive, the extra gun is a bit of a gimmick, but I got a nice adrenaline rush when HE showed up lol

Now that I've beaten it multiple times I recently played it with head shots always being critical(mod) to zombies (Not Lickers or bosses of course) and damn it's awesome. That head pop is so satisfying and it's also nice to have more realism in my zombie game(lul) where headshots destroy the brain, so it takes them down. Did the same for RE 3. Not in the mood for 7 and 8 as I played them much more recently, but I am sooooo ready for 9.

I don't know about you, but it didn't occur to me that it was a possibility so I definitely didn't expect it when that happened. Tense moment!

Unless you try to take 5 seriously, it's ok-ish if you play it with a friend. Guess if you like trash movies likeIndiana Jones 4 you can also go through Resi 5. Haven't played 6 yet but so far 5 was definitely the weakest RE I've played.

Don't sleep on 7 and 8 though. Hence if it's just for experiencing a different new approach to the RE formula.

Sewer boss done, but I will reload tomorrow since I unloaded on him and I think you need to barely do that before the fight ends.

Ok, that boss is down (again). I have to say the boss fights in this game kinda suck ass so far, mostly due to controls. On to the last area, I saved all the flamethrower ammo so far, we should be good.
Then Claire B. Awesome game.

Why did you take so long though? Resident Evil isn't even scary anymore. Capcom knows they can't make it a pure horror franchise or they will scare a major part of the casual player base.

I'm just happy you're enjoying it.

Because I thought it is very scary and I never got to play survival horrors, but with age I cannot slog with 100hrs+ RPGs anymore.

Done with Leon story, 8 hours, 73 saves because I'm terrible.
What a masterpiece of a game. Started Claire B immediately , making super fast progress, swimming in ammo and resources since now I am more likely to just run past zombies instead of killing everyone I can.

Is it just me or Claire B is way harder? I am not killing a lot of zombies like I did with Leon because the main gun is absolute ass.

Ok, first pass through RPD done, stabilised the situation a little bit. Now that I look at it I could have probably used way less ammo and everything while getting around, but I will maybe do that on hardcore (when I come back to the game in some time).
It's masterful design that the game rewards you with already knowing where everything is and at the same time 6-8 hours completion time mean that you are never too tired to just jump back in. I wonder if other RE games are like that.

RE2R is my favorite and I've played it all.

If you can beat RE2R you'll do fine with RE7,8, and silent hill 2.

RE7 starts scary with some jump scares then just chills into a similar format as RE2R. RE8 is far more action than any game in the franchise except maybe 6.

The only game to avoid is 6. It is true cancer.

RE2R>RE4OG> RE4R=RE9

That's my "top 3" list.

It's very much a consistent theme in the series. Knowledge improves replays, and if you save answers to puzzles and locker/safe combinations you can go straight in with answers. You can also plan routes to not cross certain triggers until you're ready.

I suppose it's why RE speed runs have always been so popular.

It's also something that helps some of the less well received games in the franchise as you play around the flaws.

Done with RPD, I think in Claire scenario you can set up Mr.X much better than with Leon. So even though he shows earlier and in a few places afterwards I never felt the pressure I had when playing as Leon. Maybe it's because I cleared all the relevant locations beforehand but I did all of it in 5 minutes flat.

Orphanage was surprisingly easy after I read everyone complaining about it. Sure, was short and not very memorable due to the character we are playing as, but I thought it was a nice change of pace (I wouldn't be surprised if this was partly an inspiration for Grace sections in Requiem) + enemy movements were so predictable it was never a big issue. Did it in 15 minutes tops.

Tempted to re-do "escape from RPD" without killing anything, I wasted a bit of ammo there.

I only played through Claire Route

I never played the original, I tried but the tank controls were a turn off

As for the remake they really went out of their way to update everything when it comes to the graphics and gameplay. I love the story and the cast in this one. It was a fantastic game
