wow, good news indeed, will it about side characters? or maybe alternate universe? or maybe prequel or a continuity after Shinji and Mari like in the movie?
(we got so much bad news lately this is good news and refreshing)

It was obvious because Evangelion is way too big, and iconic IP not to nurture, and keep relevant, but still, I am glad that it is official.

It's great that we are getting more.
 
Didn't really like the way the rebuild movies ended up going and I'm not particularly interested in more Evangelion.
But if it's written by Yoko Taro I still want to check it out.
 
On one hand, it could be complete shit and still be better than the epic disaster that was Rebuild.

On the other hand, Rebuild killed and buried any residual interest I may have in the IP.
 
Is this another retelling of the original series? Or alternate universe or whatever? Or is this completely new?

it would be extremely meta if Yoko Taro made another alternative version, given that's basically the gimmick behind his games as well lol
 
Regarding Shinji x Asuka as canon, it's weird seeing them grown up. I thought everybody was in a non-physical hivemind realm made up of consciousness after the events of NGE?

It depends. At the End of Evangelion you can see that Shinji changes his mind reverses that. The rebuilds give alternate takes.

I watched the TV series in the late 90's because i was obsessed with those designs. And the story itself was great in the earlier episodes and loved the characters and everything. I was a fan.

But later episodes and everything that came after is a confusing clusterfuck of pretentious bullshit. I still tried to watch The End of Evangelion and the first couple of later movies, only for the animation and designs. But they are now using too much CGI and even messed with some of the designs as well so i have no reason to watch any more.
 
Can't say I have the greatest faith in Studio Khara after the Rebuild films and more recently the disaster that was GQuacks. Yoko Taro's put out some ok games that have been well-received though. We'll see how it pans out. I don't know precisely what he intends to do with Anno's baby though - Eva always felt like his story.

Nice Nier music in the trailer tho.

Evangelion's one of those formative experiences I have a difficult time fairly judging. One thing I can say though is that the animation in End of Evangelion is fucking stellar. Particularly for that fight in the movie, which captures with the camera motions, the environmental destruction, and the robot movement itself of the impact and weight from something as large as an evangelion engaging in combat. Just for kicks, I decided to pull up that clip from EoE and another from a fight scene in Rebuild 3.0, and the difference is night and day. The 3.0 robots' motions feel like large miniatures duking it out, plus the actual scene itself is kinda boring. (And then I pulled up a 3.0+1.0 clip too and I was overwhelmed by a Transformers-esque clusterfucker of 3D models)

Yup, the battle scenes animation in EOE is top tier stuff, along with selected scenes in Akira, original Ghost in The Shell movie and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

the twitter algorithm these days is far to hardcore. you click on one post about a screwdriver, and suddenly it thinks you're a carpenter that wants to see all the latest screwdriver and tool news

I was originally not that interested, 3.0 and 4.0 leave a bad taste.

But know that I know that the guy from Nier will work on it, it might be worth the watch (I havent played Nier but i have read it is an umamazing game)
