PS5 Pro is getting PSSR 2.0 between January and March 2026

If it's true that PSSR 2.0 is in use, it could be the first game ever for a console to beat PC in IQ.

Who said this?
In previous PSSR version updates which we know from some game patch notes, I don't believe there was a system software update. I'm not expert, but I think this would be an SDK update for the developers rather than a system update. We'll know soon enough I suppose.

In the end, it doesn't really matter: we just need official launch confirmation at this point

I'm start to agree , we're almost into march and still nothing
Don't jump off the cliff just yet.

I'd love to believe it, but wouldn't we have had a software update by now for the PSSR update prior to release?

Edit: Purple guys say that potential PSSR iterations are being delivered through the games themselves. And maybe RE9 is doing that. Therefore it doesn't require an update or anything at the system level.

Take a look at this. What is John hiding at the end?

Could the surprise actually be PSSR 2.0?

PRO is upscaling from a 1080p ish to 4K right? That basically DLSS performance mode, 1/4 internal res. It was what I always expected from early impression but a lot of the games that look good are scaling from very high internal res which kind of defeat the purpose of using upscaling to free up GPU head room. Stellar Blade has one of the best PSSR implementation but the internal res is like 1800p which is super high. Would be a good software IQ tester for PSSR1.0 vs DLSS, xess and FSR4 though.

Zero mention of PSSR in John's coverage is a huge tell.
I thought that was pretty interesting as well. He mentioned how impressive the results were, yet zero speculation what it actually could be and the word PSSR was not even uttered. I watched the video before reading any of the "leaks" here and it certainly made me raise an eyebrow.

It's almost march...it's ok everybody makes mistakes.

That night in your bedroom with that lady...It was a ladyboy, this is the same

Someone found puberty and a keyboard all in the same day. Man I haven't seen replies like that since we were discussing the first Mortal Kombat manual in middle school.

I firmly believed that as I was reading this page, I was going to run into a "your mom" joke. I'm half dead at this point. I need a ham sandwich in the vein of "how I met your mother".

We ever find out exactly what they are doing with PSSR and Marathon with the whole 5K thing? Game looks pretty fucking good though admittedly I'm not sure if I would be able to tell the difference between this and native 4K.

I think PSSR can act as an anti-aliasing algorithm similar to DLAA (see MH Wilds), so it can boost image quality even if a game is rendering >4K internally.

So DLAA essentially.
Seems like an odd choice when they could just push for more FPS. I can't imagine the game is that CPU heavy but maybe I'm wrong.

Doesnt GT7 do this in performance mode with PSSR?
Apparently it has a cleaner image to native 4k with PSSR off.
I hate the suspense around PSSR2/resident evil.. im optimistically cautious.

I come in, check the past page, some dude is talking about having sex with ladyboy ladies. Is this a hint that Cyberpunk 2077 is getting PSSR 2.0?
