It's Official: New PSSR Confirmed For Resident Evil Requiem + FSR 4/DLSS 4.5 Comparisons

I guess this will also improve PSVR 2 games that use PSSR too, such as NMS. NMS looks amazing already, but it does suffer from some shimmering still.

I think I'll need to download some additional PSSR 1 games in anticipation of the update.

Also, I wonder if the games that already look good with PSSR 1 will show improvements to image quality?

Yep, that looks similar to the 4.03 to PSSR2 comparison in RE9. My guess is that PSSR2 is probably the INT8 version of FSR 4.1.

Yes, probably. The Int8 version will always look worse. But just slightly and probably not noticeable for anyone playing on a TV at a distance.

Mark corny does it again. I'm so glad to have a PlayStation 5 Pro for occasions like this. The irony is a lot of this stuff hopefully AMD will take in their incompetence on the PC side recently.

So you can enable PSSR for game that already have PSSR....
Kinda shit really, I get it you get the better PSSR but that's it? It don't work on all games.
And what happens if you disable it? does it completely disable it or does it just revert back to the old PSSR?

Are you kidding me??

How can you expect PSSR to work if the game code doesn't support it?

LOL
That's what the leaks said, they even mentioned PS4 games and instead it's just Pro Enhanced games that a system wide toggle effects
Dang man....this is looking like a huge improvement and you are already calling it shit?
It's shit in respect to disappointment yes, the quality is to be decided.

Sharma Watever could learn a thing or two from Sony and act like this:

Less talk, less parasocial interaction, and more results.
Cha cha cha, CHARMIN

Imagine something like this being put to full effect with a properly budget title coming up in Grand theft Auto 6. I think that UPS the ante in our anticipation for what is going to be probably be the biggest console seller in a long time and the PlayStation 5 Pro will be the best place to play it at lunch.

See now the public beta that came out the other day would have made sense to have the PSSR toggle feature in it, but I can understand why it's not in there.

but does it look better with UE5 lumen?

We will see. UE5 is way more problematic than other engines but it does work well with FSR4.

Where you get that PSSR1 image from?

I'll say what I've always said. PSSR1 was good, not great. This is better. Necessary progression with every upscaling tech. Either way, I don't think it is worth picking up old fights (not that you started it). PSSR2 is the north star (most) every one has been pointing towards.

Yep.

It looks very good in RE9. If that is the level we can expect from other games now we finally have great ML upscaling on a console.

Imagine if the time Sharma spent doing PR training to nurture the parasocial relationship of Xbox fans had been spent assembling a team to create a "FSR" for the Xbox Series X that used those 40 AI Tops it has?

I will not lie, I don't understand the tech side of things, but I get excited for new stuff.

I enjoy messing around and overclocking my GPU and CPU and the new things NVidia does, but this is a damn incredible jump for console players.

Ill be using the Pro more and more.

Is there a list of games that use PSSR? If it is just a toggle for the PSSR 2, I would love to see what games I own that this will apply to.

Hum this is very good, (graphics whore here), happy with the base ps5, but if they push Ps6 to 2030 maybe i bite the pro ( don't have 120hz tv thou)

I played like 2 hours at midnight on pro and im like this looks way too clean for TAAU...is this PSSR? but I couldnt notice any of the usual PSSR stuff.....this explains it all and wow what a nice upgrade.

  • Able to apply PSSR 2 system-wide, no per-game patches required. Killer move
  • PSSR 2 passes the "it's more than good enough" test, which DF claims PSSR1 did not
  • Compared to FSR 4 and DLSS 4, the differences aren't actually that important. Reaches the "Good enough, I don't care" threshold
  • PSSR 2 solves virtually all the PSSR 1 problems
  • Reaches the point of not being able to tell the difference from native rendering at a normal sitting distance on a 65" display

All points are fantastic development. All this will get even better with PS6.

Really pumped to see how Alan Wake 2, GoY and Rebirth look on Pro. Time to fire them up.
"We look forward to more news in March, when multiple existing games upgrade to the improved PSSR. There will also be a system software update at that time; selecting "Enhance PSSR Image Quality" in Settings on PS5 Pro will allow you to experience the new PSSR with any PS5 Pro games that currently support PSSR! Once the system update releases next month, try it and see, some games may have noticeably crisper graphics."

I wasn't planning on getting RE 9 today (I have a ridiculous backlog already), but I need to see this shit in action.
I was in the "if I buy this comfy game I'll never finish Rebirth". But since I've waited so much to play it may as well wait for the toggle… and in the meantime…

We don't know how that option is working, could be they are using a specific PSSR model to improve the image

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks

Sorry guys didn't mean to be downer I'm sure it'll look fantastic on games with the previous shit implementation, I was just expecting more then a fix.
I'm actually surprised people have forgotten or is ignoring parts that are missing/was false
Obviously this was bullshit
Performance Improvements: PSSR 2.0 aims to stabilize and potentially increase frame rates for PS4 games. Some reports suggest it could help older games reach 70–120 FPS if they have unlocked framerates or receive specific developer updates.
Resolution Boost: The update focuses on upscaling low-resolution textures and reducing visual artifacts, potentially bringing older titles closer to a 4K-like clarity on 4K displays.
Release Timeline: A major system software update featuring PSSR 2.0 is expected to launch in March 2026. This update will allow users to toggle the "Enhance PSSR Image Quality" setting directly in the PS5 Pro menu
Not Sony's fault, just leakers making up shit.

so how much performance it gives compared to fsr and dlls? someone said pssr2 cost 2ms requem runs at 60fps base 1080p it looks almost 4k native that is 16ms time frame so double resolution 16/2-2=6ms gained is this realistic for pssr2?

So, its a global white-list ? If it doesn't require patching I'd assume its an opt-in either by Sony or the publisher?

EDIT: Ah, global user opt-in starting with next firmware update.
