Where is the XBOX wireless adapter dongle?

I'm trying to buy this:

And i can't find it anywhere in my country (Greece). I can only find second hand ones and some on Amazon but i read these are fake?

No, bluetooth is not the same. This is the only thing that works properly. I already have one but i need another for my friend.

Seriously, without this thing, XBOX controllers are useless.

Didn't everything become Bluetooth?
I don't know did they?

I tried a few times to connect it via bluetooth. And it completely sucks compared to the dongle. Unstable, more input lag, random disconnects, i had to re-connect it manually after a restart, etc. I never had such issues with the dongle, maybe one random disconnect ever 2 or 3 months.

I think from 2016 onwards new xbox controllers got bluetooth so this device kind of became obsolete. People stopped buying it and so most places stopped selling it.

A lot of people do have bluetooth issues in general but you might be able to fix that with a reliable high gain bluetooth dongle. The xbox dongles though have sort of been discontinued and xbox doesn't officially sell them as far as I know.

Yeah, but the concept is exactly the same as this Xbox dongle, dedicated frequency for no interference. Same goes for all the gaming headsets (I'm using wired anyway).

Bluetooth's frequency isn't dedicated, it uses frequency-hopping to find the least interference. The proprietary xbox wireless protocol works in the exact same frequency range (2.4-2.48GHz).

Where have you been? Since the Xbox One S, all Xbox controllers have been Bluetooth.
Maybe it time to get a better Bluetooth adaptor ?

Can you commend one that has no more input lag than the dongle and doesn't randomly disconnect or loses the controller after a restart?
Well, I'm happy with my Mercusys MA86XE Bluetooth 5.2 Wi-FI card and have no issues with using my Xbox pad or my PSVR2 on the PC

Much better than using my very old Xbox adapter, which I still have

I have one (legit) and I stopped using it because it would randomly disconnect my controller mid gameplay for 3 seconds, after connecting through Bluetooth I've never had any issues anymore with it.

The Bluetooth on these controllers suck. Constant random disconnects.
I suppose, especially if your bluetooth receiver does too. I haven't really owned a new xbox controller after 2015. I was just answering the question

"But really, why does this not exist anymore? People don't buy XBOX controllers for their PCs anymore?"

The answer to that is xbox controllers became bluetooth compatible after 2016 so this product became a relic of the early xbox one era.

That's my whole point though, how could bluetooth take it's place when it sucks in comparison?

Apparently there must be some good ones that have worked for some but the ones i tried never did. It' a minefield and a matter of luck. When i got the dongle all the problems got solved.

I bought at least one of those dongles in case I ever needed it and couldn't find it lol.

Will use it once I get my Bazzite build going.

They seem to be available on Amazon UK, and the reviews say it's the genuine article.

The official ones are ÂŁ33 unboxed or ÂŁ42 boxed, compared to about ÂŁ15 for the knock-offs. I still use the one that came bundled with the Oculus Rift, but mine is the older design, the new ones are more compact.

I've got 2 of the older bigger dongles sitting in a box no longer being used on anything. I don't think It would be worth it to ship one to Germany. :(
I'm currently using 1 of the smaller dongles (The one in the pic you posted in OP).

It's best to use this dongle if you want to use more than one controller wirelessly as well as audio sent through the controller.
But Bluetooth will work fine if your only using 1 controller and don't want audio.

The Bluetooth connection I have across all my other devices (controllers from a variety of manufacturers, headphones, etc) has no issues across any of my PC's or laptops and steam deck but the one Xbox controller I have (purchased in 2021) decides it wants to drop connections across all of those devices.

For some reason these controllers are more finicky than others when it comes to the Bluetooth connection, and frankly I didn't care enough to troubleshoot since the controller just feels cheap and outdated in general.

I have no idea why people still recommend these controllers for PC use in this day and age when we have 8bitdo, gamesir and even the dualsense/switch pro controllers which now have native support via Steam (and the former now actually has official PC support and drivers).

My advice to the OP would actually be to not bother to throw any more money at this controller (such as paying for a dongle) and to simply get a different one. But that's just me.

I have to reluctantly agree what this dude said. I have the adapter and there have been times when I've lost the connection, or the controller just disconnects while playing.
I bought an 8bitdo ultimate 2 and I would replace the xbox controller with it, IF it wasn't so small. Has 8bitdo made a larger version similar in size to the xbox controller?

Yeah, halfway through the Xbox One generation (starting with Xbox One S release I believe) all Xbox controller had built in bluetooth (outside the Elite which didn't get updated until a little later with the Series 2).

That's most likely why they seem to have stopped mass production of the adapter. Bluetooth is common enough that it's probably not necessary.

The Bluetooth on these controllers suck. Constant random disconnects.
I've never had that issue. The only time I've ever had an issue was when the bluetooth and wifi just randomly went out on my motherboard and I had to reset my pc entirely to fix it because nothing else would work but that was a one time thing.

The 8bitdo pro series controllers are larger. Failing that, you can look in to the gamesir g7 pro which is also larger than the ultimate.

When the same controller (and it's only that controller) has issues across multiple PC's and a Steam deck, I'm inclined to believe the issue is with the controller itself.

Maybe it's that controller then. You probably just have a bad controller.

It's funny how MS stopped selling the one good hardware thing they had for PC
I suspect because the proprietary controllers became less attractive for people who wanted to have it work everywhere. On their laptop, ipads, phone, TV, etc. So their fix was adding Bluetooth to the controller to make it as attractive as the other controllers. Once they did that nobody wanted to buy some unnecessary dongle either so sales dropped on that too and they discontinued it. It's just a shame that the bluetooth they used in their controllers seem to suck. I suspect they tried to lower the output power of the BT module for AA battery life or something.

Every one I ever got whether third party or first world not work well. Signal always dropped during a game. Had to get a super long USB C for my livingroom.

And what do these other controllers use for connection?

I also have a bad experience with older 8bido controllers + bluetooth.

Basically, i need a controller that has it's own dongle. Bluetooth sucks.

This.

What happens when i want to use 2 or more controllers and connect audio to it? I can do this with the dongle for sure but never tried it with bluetooth.

It's available here on several Europe Amazon but can't tell you if they deliver to Greece, just note it's sold by third parties sellers but well shipped by Amazon:
You can switch sites language to English for all of them at the top beside the search box.
Just don't buy anything not shipped by Amazon (because of easiest returning in case of any problem).
Hope it helps !

Good Luck, I bought one 3 years ago, and even back then I had to buy it bundled with 2 regular xbox controllers just to get one. If you're on PC you should get an 8bitdo Ultimate 2 instead, they're x-input so they read as an xbox controller, and they come with their own wireless dongle, plus they're priced like a normal non-premium controller.

You can connect them with or without the dongle (which comes included with the 8bitdo and gamesir controllers) and personally I do without to free up USB ports (I have all kinds of peripherals that I attach such as wheels, pedals, flight sticks, haptic pads, etcfor when I do any sim racing/flying so like to only use USB when absolutely necessary).

What I'm telling you is that bluetooth works perfectly for all my other stuff, it was just the Xbox controller that was giving me issues. If on the other hand you have Bluetooth issues across a number of your peripherals, then the root issue is most likely the Bluetooth connection on your PC.

I suspect they tried to lower the output power of the BT module for AA battery life or something.

You are most likely correct here. I read that using different brand/voltage AA batteries can alleviate issues that someone might be having with the controller, but fuck faffing around with AA batteries in this day and age.

I have a second generation XBOX One controller that supports bluetooth. But it's not working great with it and AFAIK, it doesn't support the headphones jack this way.

Are the newer XBOX Series controllers better with bluetooth? Are they fully functional without missing features? My friend wants to get XBOX controllers, which is why i was looking for the dongle. But if those are working fine with bluetooth then sure. it will be a first for me.

Again, why on earth would you get one of these for PC use when there are a ton of other options out there which do a better job now along with offering more features?

Also add the gamesir g7 pro and the vader 5 pro to your list of options to consider.

It's not 2016 anymore, you now have a ton of options that are 100% plug and play with PC, you can even get a controller with hall effect sticks in the same price backet:

Because i only have XBOX/PS controllers to test.

The XBOX One i have works great (with the dongle). I don't have drifting (yet) and i love the feel of the analog sticks and triggers. The only thing i don't like is the Dpad. I also like the feel of the Series X controllers.

I wish i could test other controllers to get the feel. But nobody else i know has one. Its either XBOX or PlayStation controllers.

I just buy controllers from amazon and I've never had an issue returning them if they aren't to my liking.

So that would be my first suggestion.
