Pokémon Winds & Waves Releases 2027

Within the realm of realism, considering Game Freak's very poor standards, this is as good as we could have possibly hoped for.

Looks good in my opinion.

The only good thing about that direct to be honest. Already knew that thanks to the Tera leak though.
Although I'm not totally certain, Pikachu textures looks weird.

Oh wow, I was 100% expecting a holiday 2026 release for this.

I'm very curious about the rest of Nintendo's lineup now. They better do a big Nintendo Direct soon.

Huge upgrade on the visual side. Pokemon graphcally looking like a late PS3 game now.

If Pokemon is looking like this on a Nintendo system i CANT wait to see what Nintendo 1st Party AAA games are going to look on the NSW2.

Ok this is the one big game we are shown that's more than a year out. Gives super fans and casuals something to dream about while Nintendo fills in the blanks with other things.

I want sprite Pokemon back. HD2D would be nice.
I'll admit that I'm not the biggest fan of the series (I was a huge fan of Gen 1 and the anime and I collected the cards as a kid but never played TCG) but I would love to see them return to the Pokemon Lets Go art style. I think that art style in 4K/60 would look really good and should be doable on Switch 2.

Lets Go already looked amazing on the Switch enough as it is.

The water looks really nice in this gen, much better than many open-world games and a massive step up over Scarlet and Violet

YEAH
THIS GEN NINTENDO GAMES WITH WATER PHYSICS ARE GOING TO LOOK GOOD AND GO CRAZY.

This looks decent so far. And the starter Pokemon look also decent this time. Their designs remind me a bit of the more "subdued" designs that were present in gen 1 and (mostly) gen 2. One of the reasons I fell off after gen 3 was that the designs got progressively more "extreme", which I just don't like.

Did they show the starters?
Yeah, close to the end of the trailer.

The only one that stuck out to me was Pombom. A fire based Pomeranian? Yeah, that tracks. 🤣 Growing up I had a friend whose parents had three Pomeranians and they were hyperactive balls of fur. Definitely perfect as a fire type. 😂

Pretty sure this is a bullshot though, get ready for massive downgrades by release.

I would say this time around the environments big step up from their past games but I can't never see myself getting in to Pokémon. I just never liked the their creature designs in these games and with more "realistic" visual style for environments makes the Pokémon themselves stand out so badly.

the art style is jarring. some things hyper simple and flat while others are realistic and detailed.

i guess the budget only allowed for advancing part of the game. give it another gen or two and the whole thing will look 2020s modern and cohesive.

also, another grass bird and water lizard feel too same same as rowlet and sobble. also very close spacing genwise

oh well. another gen that doesnt convince me to come back

Alright, with it being a Switch 2 exclusive (no Switch version, I think?) and a 5-year development cycle from the previous mainline release, maybe it can have something close to a premium feel. I want to be able to sit down and think I'm playing a modern, AAA Pokemon game with minimal self-delusion.

C'mon Nintendo, please have thrown some money and resources Game Freak's way.
