That was a fake leak mate or you didn't understand they were talking about . The realistic leaks were talking about developers need to update their gamesLame I got excited when rumors and news coming out saying its implemented in all games and I'll vintage games
It worked very well in several games. That's factual. PSSR didn't work as intended for more than a year. If you enjoyed paying 800+€ for a barely better version, you do you.
That explains why RE9 when I played last night was the best looking console/pro game I've played yet. Game is gorgeous. It's already been applied to RE9. It comes out for all titles in March. All titles with PSSR anyways. Don't think they gave an exact date for March.
I mean, adamsapple is already claiming that paying it without RT on base consoles is better.
Fuck you lolCan you provide proof you have PS5? This reads like some kind of PC console warrior post lol
None of the advanced upscaling techniques can do that. They always need developer input.Lame I got excited when rumors and news coming out saying its implemented in all games and I'll vintage games
lol a simple toggle that you turn on in the PS5 main system settings once and never touch ever again isn't really the same. At least not the last time I tried changing DLSS versions in a game.Games on my PC that use DLSS.
(DLSS v2.3.5) / Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition
(DLSS v3.5.10) / Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
(DLSS v2.3.1) / Rise of the Tomb Raider
(DLSS v3.1.1) / the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
(DLSS v3.1.30) / Throne and Liberty
Only way I get any DLSS v4+ on any of these are by global or game specific override just like here so why the complaint when its the same on console?

PSSR 2.0 is sharper with less ghosting than full fat FP8 FSR4.

This one scene where PSSR 2.0 was blurrier I think is caused by that DRS patent for PSSR we heard few days ago, as this is one of the heaviest part in the game.
My general impression is that FSR 4.1 is a decent step up in definition on vegetation, hair, and fine lines over FSR4. Hard to tell exactly how much impact Youtube has on the image, but I don't have time to upload a video right now. I think PSSR2 might be INT8 FSR 4.1.PSSR has a bit higher res here (52% vs. 50%) but I doubt this makes much difference in sharpness. I wonder how it compares to FSR 4.1 released yesterday (?).
Hold your horses Mr. Nobel Prize for Peace aspirant! My beef with our resident Eastern European isn't over! We still have one matter to address. The fact that both Alex and Oliver (well established and vocal critics of PSSR) have stated it has crossed the "more than good enough threshold" means:
Bojji can turn full PSSR 2 fanboy in March and start shaming anyone that can't afford/don't want to spend on a Pro but still want to discuss graphics
- @Karim can retire and take a vacation
adamsapple can... be shamed by
Bojji
See above.I knew I was too optimistic hoping for a civil and positive discussion.
has the ps5 pro been unsuccessful? I dont think soIf the Pro had launched with this "new" PSSR, it might have been more successful.
But what Digital Foundry is showing makes PSSR2 look like it's reached PC quality; even Battaglia is satisfied^^
This is 4.1Will this stay FSR 4.0 or does anyone think they'll update with 4.1 soon? (or will it just need an adrenaline update like 3.1?). Might wait a while to see before I pick it up, I've got Monster Hunter Stories games to finish.
Oh, I mean on PC. In the video it says 4.0.3.This is 4.1
I doubt it has anything to do with the patent, as K KeplerL2 said it is likely just the FSR 4.1 INT8 version. So it has the advantages of 4.1, but still a few (tiny) areas where it lacks vs 4.1 FP8.![]()

FSR 4.1 should come out next month on PCOh, I mean on PC. In the video it says 4.0.3.
Nice catch on the last one. The whole frame looks blurrier (see letters on warning sign on right for reference), so it likely is dropping inference quality across the entire image to keep the framerate up (or may be it's lowering resolution when fps drops). The "not doing lines as well" is not the right conclusion. Different tradeoffs are being made based on performance target and normal viewing distance. It could also be just a difference in versions of FSR used, like pointed above.![]()

You can do it now. See the images I posted for reference. AMD users have to do everything themselves, unfortunately. Will this stay FSR 4.0 or does anyone think they'll update with 4.1 soon? (or will it just need an adrenaline update like 3.1?). Might wait a while to see before I pick it up, I've got Monster Hunter Stories games to finish.
If these results translate to similar gains in other games I bet Pro is gonna do some numbers in the last part of this gen.has the ps5 pro been unsuccessful? I dont think so
and you have to walk before you can run etc.

Still not sure about that. There would be a natural shift towards pro, but that price barrier is still quite formidable. Unless something like GTA shows a big jump, like the fabled 60 fps mode, I'd still expect a 90-10 split. If these results translate to similar gains in other games I bet Pro is gonna do some numbers in the last part of this gen.
What's with all the PS5 Pro salt? It's one hell of a system.
Not directed at you because I never saw that threadNone of the advanced upscaling techniques can do that. They always need developer input.
Can you share the source so we can learn what problems can it cause if we leave it on?Excited to try it but they still require patches for the full experience. The toggle is just to brute force it which can clearly cause problems or they wouldn't have given us the toggle.
I'll be leaving it off and relying on patches.
Difference between what?
There is no comparison between PSSR 1 and 2.0 in this video. Just base PS5 with supposedly FSR 1 (which is as bad as it gets) and the Pro with PSSR 2.
So we don't really know the improvements if we don't have a direct comparison in the same game.
You also promised to give me $1,000 for helping you out the other nightI am? That's news to me.

Nope, but at least most people are excited for it!Oh well....can't please everyone I guess
Alex's analysis of those triple shots in your picture above had the wrong conclusion because of his bias.PSSR has a bit higher res here (52% vs. 50%) but I doubt this makes much difference in sharpness. I wonder how it compares to FSR 4.1 released yesterday (?).

Alex's analysis of those triple shots in your picture above had the wrong conclusion because of his bias.
DLSS is overly sharp to the point of almost seeing alpha cards in the DLSS 4.5 L tree branches. And the triple shot of the document. DLSS does best with the text but does worst with the mugshot photo clarity.
In both shots you could argue either way for FSR4 or PSSR2, depending on whether the fuller but too soft tree of FSR4 is better than PSSR2's correctly sharpened tree with a little less body.
And for the document, FSR4 has maybe a smidge more detail in the mugshot, but the text is way too soft, to read Or with PSSR2 the mugshot is close with FSR4 but not equal, and the text is close to DLSS 4.5 L for sharpness, but not quite equal.
Personally I think all three did a good job, but I would have taken FSR4/PSSR2 over DLSS 4.5 L in those situations if pushed because the minor flaws, and in the other triple shot scene in the video in the rain with the Umbrella, the edge line of the Umbrella when it flexes is noisiest on DLSS 4.5 L and far more of an issue than FSR4's softer image or the soft narrow lines fading away on PSSR2 that he claimed were incomplete.
Yeah completely agree. If that wasn't even the preset this single player story - play once experience - game shipped with, and the one it did ship with was worse than L, then for the average gamer DLSS isn't superior in this game. Choosing a preset in a multiplayer or sports game after release is no big deal, but having to do that for a single player game just ruins the experience in the very way PC gaming has been criticised for 30years of game settings always needing adjusted, rather than just starting and playing. There is also the issue that he forced the L preset. When the game ships with the K preset.
But somehow, he still used the FSR 4.0.3, when the FSR 4.1 is out in the wild and brings big improvements to the performance mode, especially using vegetation.
Their wording makes me think that games that add support for it explicitly will look a tiny bit better than the games that just have PSSR1 support and they auto enhanced… for those… PSSR1.89 ?Absolutely awesome news and good to know that I was correct that the PSSR2 upgrade was going to a system setting rather than requiring each game to be patched separately. That means every Pro game with support for PSSR will benefit for the upgrade, including those games which has visual issues when using PSSR, e.g. Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f and Star Wars Outlaws.

And mind you, the Preset L is the heaviest preset, made specifically for the Ultra Performance mode.
Even for DLSS 4.5, the base preset is the M. So Alex was trying it's best to make PSSR2 and FSR4 look inferior.
And I would not be surprised if he wasn't normalizing frame rate, when comparing temporal upscalers.

Not saying they will look horrible but there must be a difference if some games are updating to the new PSSR version via patch and others just use the system settings to update.
This is weird, he should left default K preset in comparison.
Hair strands is much more seen clearly. Impressive.![]()
Pretty cool update.(Hurry the F up and release it Sony)
I am interested in the rumored lower resolutions PSSR'D to higher resolution talked about via MLiD rumors.
