I thought we already had a remake for the first game or was it a remaster.

They did both. First they remade it for the Gamecube and then later on remastered that remake for other platforms.
To remake this game again would be ridiculous. If they do however I hope they expand on it a lot compared to the other remake and have more characters involved.

It was a remake more or less, somewhat extended so not just a simple remaster.

I wonder if there was ever a double remake of any game yet.
But then eventually not that hard to imagine for me that this starts to happen. I think I'm officially past being a hardcore fan of the OG RE1-3 games.. I love them dearly and super happy that GOG got them released in recent years just to be able to play them.
Then again what's not to love about the new stuff? So many good things came from their new iterations, the evolution of cinematic games or simply just the available tech like path tracing.
After RE9 I was just wondering the other day how I'd love RE4 remake to have the FPS mode added. So why not go back and implement some new stuff, they are beloved classics for a reason.

One more time with the oldies or new stuff.. I'm down for whatever they have to offer, just keep 'em coming at this solid quality.

More or less? It was a complete remake from the ground up. There is no more or less in what REmake was.

I really agree, re5 is over hated big time. I can't imagine why honestly if you liked re4 it's like an encore to some extent. Sure he punches the Boulder and that's ridiculous and honestly maybe I'd throw the Wester stuff into that basket as well, but overall the game is pretty good I liked it when I replayed it recently about a year and a half ago.


And I never even got a chance to play at Co-op which would probably raise my opinion of it as well. I preferred how they did the two characters in zero to five but again I didn't try to co-op.

All these remakes are basically giving capcom another chance at writing the story the way they want it to be for the future of the franchise. Unfortunately this means retconning certain things. Like it looks like after beating RE9 that they want to humanize Spensor and not make him portrayed as evil as he is. I expect a RE5 remake to change him talking about him being a god.

The current HD REmake with a good texture pack is pretty damn hard to beat. Mikami at his peak. RE4 was almost easier to do right because you didn't have to change the camera angle. They probably have to dumb down the mechanics a little bit too.

So called "gamers" that eat Soulsbourne games for breakfast consider tank controls and fixed camera angles a bridge too far.

The 2002 remake is one of the greatest games ever made.
They should play that instead of demanding they turn everything into an RE4 clone. Hell, even the original Resident Evil 4 is completely unique by today's standards.
