I was focusing too much on the white block-thing mounted on the gun, I thought it was a house or some structure on the map, is that a scope? lmao

It means what it means. If your game ends up with stolen art or assets it just means the devs don't give a shit about what they are making.

Which they obviously did not. Imagine having the rights to the Marathon IP and going the cheap and lazy route instead of trying to capitalize on the artstyle of the original games which looked way, way better than this one.

Next time you don't agree with someone make an effort and have some arguments instead of giving me this shit please.
Marathon has one of the most unique art styles in gaming. To the point it is divisive with a lot of people. Reading your original post, you used "stolen art" as if all the art was stolen. Which is not close to the truth. Someone who doesn't know, they will read your post and ignorant of the facts

Well I'm not responsible of what other people know or don'tknow lol. Fact is, they stole art, and that same art made it's way to the final product. I didn't mean to make it sound as if everything was stolen so sorry if that's what I did.

And while agree that the art is "original" when compared to other games, I agree with simpatico simpatico 's previous post that it has no identity nor reason to it. It's just "weird" for the sake of being "weird". Personally I think it's quite ugly, but art is subjective. When it comes to minimalistic stuff, I think other games like Mirror's Edge did it way better.

This is the part in the zombie movie when the character has become more zombie (tourist) than human (gamer).

You're too far gone.

I'm gonna do a movie with me shitting for 9 hours. It's unique, never been done. I'm going to revolutionize Cinema.

Also they stole not only the art but it's visual identity. Big difference if you know just a little bit about art research for a project like this.

These activists are parasites and it all started in 2012 with Anita Sarkeesian. Since then Western devs have become genuinely unhinged. They're the ones who should be called deranged.
  • They'll call men who like conventionally attractive women "gOoNeRs" and other idiotic meme insults like children but unironically be caught drooling over male characters or safe horny garbage for the LGTI:ICEHWEUOH crowd
  • Try to get people fired who don't agree with their lunacy
  • Threaten to fight people
  • Several of them hve been outed as LITERAL PREDATORS aka the "male allies" that have infested Western studios/media outlets
  • Say "white gamers are a mistake"
  • Say they want to "burn the industry to the ground"
  • Openly admit to using games as a political soapbox
  • Have parasitized and destroyed beloved IPs with their dogshit
  • Make every excuse under the sun for their failures like mentally stunted weaklings
  • Spread literal lies/misinformation like the whole "50% of gamers are women" to excuse their bullshit
Anyone still defending these people are either dangerously ignorant, or are coward wokesters who don't want to admit it.

That's why they're so obnoxiously awful is because THEY are the truly terrible awful people, theyre hateful, mean spirited, just awful behaving individuals and I'm a bad guy because I find women attractive? It's so disgusting I can't stand them and I don't even get how they have anyone that agrees with them it's so batshit crazy but that's what I always thought about was they are such awful terrible people and it shows.

Is there anything so bad about letting people just enjoy something that they like? What does it matter to you?
Thoose clowns tryed theire best to fuck up the OT for Arc raiders, so they are not any angels in any way. No one here are in theire OT and talking shit we stick to this thread mostly and thats it.

Those who celebrate games.

VS

Those who live in resentment.

The industry has moved past you people because of what you've become. You don't like games as much as you like complaining about them online. A poor demographic if ever there was one.

Given this launch, i think its the people who are moving past the industry.

Its easy for people like me or KyoZz KyoZz to shit on this because we have safe heavens. Ones that wont be destroyed by time like GAASLop.

You've done this for the entire GAAS emergence. You people always point to anecdotal evidence as the water level submerges you deeper and deeper.

Funny how quiet you were when ARC Raiders broke records.

What does the Game have to do with wokeness and incel victories?
God, the "chudsters" are getting as annoying as the "woke" crowd.

Sad about the game though. Always bad for gamers to see a game fail like that. Makes developers and producer more anxious to make something new and innovative. It's become and more risky.

I celebrate games, no the shitty one tho. I'm voicing my opinion and I'm not sorry (not really) it hurt your feelings.

Btw I play in coop every evening right now (Son of the Forest) and I'm also going through RE9 and Stellar Blade, waiting for Crimson Desert.

Oh trust me I love gaming, but I see further than the latest shinny thing hyped by people like you and streamers.

They moved with games like Marathon, Concord or Highguard?

Not bought a copy, not played the Beta.
So clearly my opinion is about as much use as a fart in the wind.

Price point I don't think would have moved the metrics that much, free I still wouldn't have wanted to try it. I know it's just not for me...

I am assuming it settles around the 30k player base. I'm unsure if that is bad, good or neither but it might expediate Destiny 3 development.

As for the "costs" of development, some costs will benefit the future Bungie IP being developed.

Concord sold 25k copies worldwide, games can be flop even if they sell 100x of that.
Logic tells us that if game is flop or not depends solely on publisher expectaction aka game's budget vs actual profit it makes.
It can get skewed and not even a bit in case of true exclusive(to not look far GoY), coz then u gotta count in potential milions (or at leasts hundreds of k's) of new console buyers, but marathon launching everywhere doesnt have that luxury :)

Maybe we just need a new word for a Concord level catastrophe. Feels wrong to put this on the same level. Marathon has more than 100x as many players and they probably had similar budgets.

It wasn't the art style but the unique lettering and symbols. BTW, the developer who stole it left Bungie many years ago, it just made its way into the game. It wasn't like people high up at Bungie agreed to steal it. It was one guy. I feel like it is massively overblown story. To blame the entire studio is unfair, imo

Has the story behind that ever come from another source other than Bungie?

I remember reading news and posts around the time and from what I remember Bungie made the claim that it was from some artist that left years ago, which is a little convenient. What we do know is that the art director followed the artist on Twitter.

Its not a question of style, the artist clearly creates that futuristic industrial design style Marathon uses, similar to that of Designers Republic. So makes sense that the team knew of the artist. But the accusation specifically was about exact cloning of art pieces into Marathon, which isn't similar style, it's theft.

But the story about it being an artist that left years ago. I'd like to know if that was anything more than a Bungie story or if there's evidence to show it.

Oh, thats the thing. We dont have to worry about water levels or what not.

I fully believe you love this game, and it deeply worries you how bungie or sony can just plug off the servers at any time because of the clearly poor reception, which is why you so desperately defend it online and want others to believe its worth something. The game you love can "die" because of stupid shit like this.

But me and other people here who sneer at GAAS? We dont have to worry. We're free to like unpopular games, doesn't matter if TDU2 was considered a turd whose servers closed in 2 years, i can still play it today. Heck i can play the real marathon online with friends if i want right now. Will you be able to play this Marathon in 6 months?

So genuinely curious, help me understand... You want the OT to be a safe haven in which we all here have respected, but you're cool to come over into these threads to dunk on people over different opinions?

The more I play it, the less I like it. Unfortunately, I'm over two hours gametime, so I can't get a Steam refund anymore.

But honestly even if it had 200k players right now, it wouldn't really matter. Players should spend money so that Bungie can at least recoup the long and expensive development costs.

But this is what you can buy in the game: Premium Battle pass. That's the only character skin that you get and some ugly other things.

Or those things outside of the Battle Pass. No one's going to buy that. I have seen one paid skin in the game so far.

Men in boxes is one of the only two posters on here I had to add to ignore.

He is a full blown retard. He's gone on record saying shit like pay to win is good and wants it in games. He wants devs to milk gamers for every red cent.

No I celebrate games, no the sh*try ones.

You've made 34 "Marathon dead" posts in this very thread because the model you prefer drops you on the ground after a week. This is why a number of you are tourists. You watch the industry from the ground.

I'm curious, why has there been such a fascination about this game failing? It seems a bit run of the mill with the only thing about it that seems offensive being the rather terrible UI design. Rest of the game appears solid, although nothing exceptional. Reviews on Steam appear far more positive than I would have assumed. Is this a hate on Sony or Bungie thing?
two things
1 fans hate that games as a service is taking over the single player sector
2 Blue Point died for this kind of slop

Yea thats wild man if he's said that. He just seems to not be able to handle any ribbing of this game at all, he has an OT to go just talk the game but why's he such need to run defense in all other threads? Seems the kind of guy that reacts because theres truth in what he's mad about.

I never said anything about the OT being a safe haven, though that seems to be the rules for all OTs here. Do you guys want this to be a safe haven or do you enjoy listening to people with different perspectives? How intellectually stimulating is page 8 of "Marathon dead" (despite no game ever dying with ~5k CCU on Steam)?

Were discussing the game even tho it's in a negative light , you rolled in to just blast the people that think differently than you. There's a difference.

It depends what a "good launch" is. It's around the top 250 all time CCU on steam. Is that good? Maybe, but for a $4bil purchase? Maybe not. It hasn't even hit highguard numbers yet and that game is shutting down.

To be fair...... They didn't purchase them for $3.5 Billion for one game. Let's be somewhat fair here.

Didn't Resident Evil Requiem, a traditional single player experience, just take a hot dookie all over Marathon?

*edit* Yep, it sure did.

And yet here you are. Go cry in your OT.

Oh yeah and I'm having a lot of fun watching this ship sink. It's really entertaining.

Based on YOUR OWN THREAD, Marathon is actually failing.

You: S1 will hit around a 100k CCU high, with a > -20% S2 drop (poor retention)
*the game didn't even get 100K and is bleeding players*
Me: Damn this game is tanking hard
You: nO yoU JuSt dOn'T liKe GaMEs

Play something else than the new shinny *flavor of the week* and maybe I'll take you seriously. Until then, sit and watch your "next Mario gaming moment" fail one after another.

Now before anyone points at lower than launch day numbers...

Today is a day of worship for many normal, good players. They are at church or with their community.

Not like those godless heathens who play Slay the Spire 2. Fucking demonic assholes.

There's no higher level game design discussion going on here. It would be great to see other people diving into Marathons game mechanics with insightful critiques. That's not happening.

It's just "Bungie woke", "Look at CCU now" and "saturated market" ad nauseum.

It's truly macabre.

I've had refunds before over the 2 hours, they can be quite generous so it's worth a try.

You can usually guarantee it by mentioning performance problems (and then after that try telling them it didn't run well on your pc).

And yet you're still here crashing out when there's already an OT for the game. Shocker, I know.

Yet you have an OT you can go play tummysticks in with everyone yet you're here running defense, why if this conversation isn't up to your standards?
