What improvements would you like to see in Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake?

We know this remake is almost certainly coming, so what improvements are you hoping to see?

I have a few suggestions. For example, I really hope they change Steve's personality. In the original, he can be a pain in the ass and sometimes even hard to watch.

Another thing I'd like is for them to expand the island with more areas to explore. I think the game would really benefit from adding new locations and making the environment feel bigger.

I'd also like to see Chris's section expanded. His part in the original game feels very brief, and it would be great if they gave him more screen time and development.

And lastly maybe adding more bosses or enemies would be cool

Let me know your ideas

steve can be a pervert but more in the way we expect a pervert to be in 2026

the boss in the airplane needs an overhaul

rest is perfect, CVX is one of my favorite games of all time.

oh and don't you fucking dare change anything about my man alfred or any of the ashfords for that matter

I was never the biggest fan of code veronica.

I guess i hope they don't fuck up the twins to be more in line with the modern audience, i can see capcom doing this shit.

And maintain the shooting and gore from re2r\re9, don't downgrade again like you did with the shitty remake3.

I watched a playthrough a while back to get an idea of what to expect (about 1/2 through so Im missing a bit).

To be honest, I think most of it will need reworked to work well today. I could see them expanding our the mansion section on the island to be like an RPD and just rework where everything is located there. Steve obviously needs rewritten. More of a creep and less cheesy?

Gameplay I think should be similar to RE4 with some 9 sprinkled in. This is the first game with Chris playable so I imagine this will lay ground work for RE5 and RE1 reimagined too.

I think adding a couple more mansions would make it perfect.

Seriously: everything needs to be remade here. But since most of the game's problems came from being a classic RE with every single classic RE design issue turned up to 11, just making it a third-person action game will solve 80% of them.
Then tone down the backtracking, cut at least one Spencer Mansion replica, and don't make Steve the culprit for all the roadblocks you face in the story.

Exactly my thoughts.

I also hope that this time I don't lose my supplies right before the final boss 😂😂😂

I didn't quite play this one when I was a kid.

Remember I always got spoked as shit in the beginning of the game when they make you go through a graveyard in the first 5 minutes of the game.

That being said, I'll definitely play the remake when it comes out.

Keep the gore from RE 2 and 9, give claire the dodge from RE 3 maybe? but without the autoaim afterwards. I'd love to see fully fleshed out seperate Claire and Chris scenarios instead of RE9'ing it.
Please come up with some fun unlockables, RE9's were fucking dire. Some decent costumes too.
Revamp the plane tyrant, make sure the twins are who they are originally but im sure they'll "modernise" them, they'll be 2 seperate people the whole time instead of loopy brother crossdressing.
Don't skimp on weapons in game too. Keep the dual pistols, dual uzi's, bowgun, grenade launcher (with all the ammo types, freeze, acid, BOW Gas, explosive, flame)

I remember the ending being weak? I remember seeing both Redfields in the jet fly away and that was it. I'd like an Epilogue if anything to tie the game with future installments.

Would you like the remake to have some sort of Stalker? Out of curiosity

I hope they leave the tyrant fight on the plane untouched. Unlike the RE3 remake, you could cut plenty of content here and the game would be much better off for it.

The bane of my existence. Oddly enough it's the one memory I have from the game was that fight.
Same here. I got stuck on the boss (not enough ammo I think) and dropped the game since there was no way to get what I needed to beat him, and I didn't want to start over. Very disappointing.

My dream would be for Wesker to stay dead and not show up but that ship has sailed. Honestly, the game needs alot of work and plain better character writing. If they can come up with a better setup for Claire getting captured than that absolutely godawful opening sequence and keep REmake Claire's personality to bounce off an improved Steve that will probably be enough to outclass the original. Also let Chris be an endearing meat head for one game like he used to be. Im sick of self-doubting serious business Chris and it would make for a much more entertaining dynamic with his sister than him just moping or growling the whole time.

As long as they get the reunion between Claire and Chris right I'm happy... its such an important plot point for the franchise as these two finding each other is a priority to both and mentioned repeatedly in the early games.

I never understood all the hate Steve got over the years...
I always liked him, he was funny, tragic and his voiceactor did a great job at making him sound human. Okay, maybe that crying was a bit cringe...
So I hope they keep Steve in, expanding his role and do something meaningful with him.
What I fear is that they definitely will change one of my favorite scenes in all of the RE games: That one cutscene before the last bossfight when Chris and Claire activate that weapon to fight Alexia. The dramatic soundtrack in combination with the camerawork, the computervoice announcing the charging instructions, all while Alexia is mutating - this was peak RE for me, I always got goosebumps. Sadly, this scene will most likely be altered.

They should expand the Antarctic base and allow you to explore outside more. Imagine how fucking tense it would be traversing through a blizzard in a snowfield while having to deal with zombies, tyrants and Alexia's sexy tentacles.

They'll never be able to recreate the feeling that CV gave me while I was waiting for it to come out. It allowed me to continually tell myself "see, I was right! I was right to buy a Dreamcast!! Those PS2 fools will never get to play this!!!"

Time makes fools of us all

Darkside Chronicles already changed the Ashfords and the game was released in 2009.

Better pacing. Those slow ass 30 seconds door/stair animations with the heartbeats to try and build 'suspense' absolutely kill the mood of the game for me.

Steve's characterization, make him seem like less of an edgelord dumbass.

A real final boss is the main change I would ask for, and I'm sure we'll get one.

Other than that, Capcom can just do their usual remake thing- change the layout a bit, add new content and surprises, all to the tune of a huge graphical/audio upgrade. To be honest I'd be more wary of the game losing stuff, there's an unfortunate precedent for it with the recent remakes. The way Claire and Chris tread different paths through the same areas is my favourite thing about the original and I hope they can retain it.

I dunno if you ever played Darkside Chronicles but they gave him a Joker-like personality, which sucked. I really hope they don't attempt the same with the remake.

I'm sure you've learned since but you can just continue to launch the cargo container at him until his finished. Avoiding him while it charges isn't easy, but it's doable if you're strapped for ammo.

I barely have any memory of this game, a few flashes here and there.

But since it's old af, Capcom should work their magic like they did with ReMake4 and also include stuff from 9 and make it awesome.

Make Claire scared and loud as possible, ppl seens to like this stuff in RE games now.

And dont forget to make her stumble everywhere, she is a 18yo civilian woman after all.

I was forgetting, her aim has to be shaking everytime cause fear and realism is important.

  1. Bring back SPIDERS! No giant spiders in RE2 was disappointing. I want true arachnophobia triggers!
  2. Option to keep the OG soundtrack. It's the best score since RE2 OG.
  3. DLC or Gold Edition in the future to include a playable "Wesker's Report"
  4. To finally be able to SEE head pops/decapitations from shotguns
  5. Make the "poisonous moth" hallway less annoying
  6. Playable Rodrigo in Mercenaries or at least flesh out his character with more scenes.
  7. KEEP THE LAUGH!!!

The Save room theme is not negotiable, it has to be there yes or yes

There wasn't one in the original that I can remember, so I see no need to add one into a CV Remake. But I had no issues with Mr X or Nemesis (except for nemesis being shit in 3 remake). I actually like the stalker enemies, they add increased pressure and tension.

Yeah I like them too because it adds tension that zombies don't provide. Let's see what happens but it wouldn't surprise me if they add some stalker enemy roaming around the island

Make the game longer.

Make the Tyrant encounter longer with a stalking section like Mr. X.

Make the island bigger and more explorable with more metroidvania stuff.

Make the Antarctica base bigger and more explorable with more metroidvania stuff.

Make Alexia wreck Wesker in their fight and also make the fight longer.

Allow Chris to kill Wesker.

Steve survives

Some new HFC enemy human soldiers

I liked the rumours that circulated and said that the whole complex on Rockford Island is expanded and Claire gets a motorcycle with which she can explore it. Hope that's true.

I like a lot of what was mentioned above save for stalkers as I don't like that mechanic. I miss hunters and other mutant BOWs. The main thing I want "fixed" is to not have to worry about soft-locking progress by not having enough ammo for the endgame fight by leaving it in the chest in the beginning. Its happened a few times to me and a few irl friends on multiple systems. Funny too since with my Dreamcast original copy I never encountered the issue, I guess I was more hardcore back in the day. Gotta have the music, one of my main complaints about horror nowadays is the crappy ambient noise that passes for music, that's got to be the easiest f'n job in existence to pass off as work. Dead silence, whoopie, give me the classic OSTs. Its why I also very much love and prefer older horror films like Zombi, The Beyond, The House by the Cemetery, City of the Dead etc for the amazing soundtracks those films possess. Even softer more mellow and mood-setting stuff like John Carpenter's The Thing do much more for me. Those 70's-80's synths and instruments man. Or Phantasm, damn what a movie and soundtrack.

I just hope the game is good and retains the Rule of Cool from back then. The opening cutscene with Claire in the Umbrella facility was great, even my uber-critic Dad was impressed. Can't wait for some Berreta 93R action, my favorite pistol.

The only "improvement" I would like to see is that they don't try to "improve" the story. Code Veronica is awesome exactly because of its batshit crazy story and incoherent pacing.

  • Ensure the M-100P and Uzi have ammo. In the OG, once the weapon runs out of ammo, that's it and you can't use it anymore.
  • Ensure the Bow Gun is actually stronger.
  • Fix the airplane boss.
  • Fix the fight with Alexander Ashford in Antarctica so the Dragonov doesn't have a lot of sway; or ensure the weak point of the boss is a bit bigger.

On a side note, there is a mod that enhances Code Veronica on pcsx2 and it looks really good, every texture has been upscaled and even the fonts are HD. I have tested at 4k and everything looks very crisp
