Falcom has announced Dragon Slayer Project, its tentatively titled 45th anniversary project for console. A genre, specific platforms, and a release date were not announced.

Here is an overview of the Dragon Slayer series:
The first Dragon Slayer game launched for PC-8801 in 1984 as a "new-type, real-type role-playing game."

The game garnered attention for its unique systems such as simple and easy-to-understand controls like ramming into adjacent enemy characters to attack; distinctive growth elements where players bring experience points and items back home to strengthen their characters; and puzzles that require specific items and magic to clear obstacles; and it was praised by numerous PC users as a masterpiece of the early days of action RPGs.

After that, titles such as Xanadu, Romancia, Legacy of the Wizard, and Sorcerian were released as part of the Dragon Slayer series.

The sixth entry in the series, Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes, utilized a command-based battle system, as well as emphasized unique characters, a carefully crafted world, and story development. This entry led to the spin-off series The Legend of Heroes, which later gave birth to the story RPG series Trails that began with The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.

And still no news about Trails beyond the Horizon 2, they are doing everything they can to avoid working on that. :messenger_expressionless:

At this point they actively try to piss people off i guess, im happy for the 2 people awating a Xanadu game and them doing remakes but postponing the next mainline trails into what seems to be 2027 and beyond at this point is just not cool.

Poor Kai players.

But I'm happy that Falcom is trying something outside of Trails/Ys for a change.
Same I don't mind waiting for Kai. I'm not saying I didn't love the ending for Kai it's just I kind of like I already know how that's all going to end. The only exciting thing about Kai for me is finding out the why of what happened but I've played this series long enough to know exactly how everything will end other then that. Who knows maybe Falcom will surprise me but I dont think so.

This is the series trails spawned from huh. With dragon slayer 6 being trails 1. Hopefully they do something more different with it this time.

AmuroChan AmuroChan Yes the N-Gage game. Specifically the PC version. The Medieval Fantasy aesthetic and stylized graphics makes for a great experience. One look at Kyoto Xanadu and it's precursor Tokyo Xanadu have nothing on this game.

All comes down to art direction, vibe, setting.

I see. I misread your original post. I thought you were talking about Tokyo Xanadu.

Finally. I wouldn't mind something similar to Drasley Family (The Legacy of Wizard) - but also wouldn't mind something in the Xanadu nature.
Technically the Trail series is a sub series of Legend of Heroes series, a branch of Dragon Slayer series, which became so big as its own (like Persona to Megami Tensei series) - so I'm glad it's going back to its root.
