Even on the screen, where Miss All Sunday talked to them on the ship, Karoo wasn't there.
They showed so much stuff but no Karoo. I'm thinking Karoo will be teased for Alabasta.

I finished the first season a couple days ago and started season 2 last night. This show is so good. Anyone watching?
So many interesting and memorable characters, insane production values, a lot of heart, good fights, it feels like I'm on a big adventure every time I turn it on. Gonna knock out a few more eps this weekend.

TBH, when I heard they were making this in to a live action series, I thought there was no way it was gonna be good.
Once season 1 came out and reviews were actually good, I gave it a shot and loved it. Probably one of the my favorite series on netflix.
Season 2 so far has been great.

I can't believe how good this is. Finished the first 6 episodes of season 2, got 2 more to go that I have to wait to finish with mrs esquie tomorrow night because she wanted to cuck out and watch the Oscars. But yeah it's so good… the Little Garden episodes were amazing. Felt like I was transported to a wonderful epic adventure. So bright and colorful and beautiful. So many memorable characters, loved the candle wax guy played by David Dastmalchian. Neither of us knew anything about One Piece before this show, like not even a basic synopsis. It can be a little corny and goofy but that's part of the charm.
I'm concerned about one thing tho — the viewership. Yesterday I saw it was #3 behind a couple of reality shows like Love is Blind. Today it's #2 behind Virgin River. Wtf… season 1 was "#1 in 84 countries" so I'm hoping it's still killing it overseas. Maybe it'll pick up here too. It says season 1 released August 31, 2023… maybe they should've saved it for then instead of a random March release. Good news is that season 3 is already in production.

Reality TV Shows are titans compared to traditional media. It's why, after Discovery merged wit WB, they started closing up shop on smaller projects (especially the HBO Max originals) and let their reality TV bring in the money instead.
Making number 3 behind those two shows is a good thing.

I love how the actors are just fully leaning into the anime style and appear to be having a blast with it, there's a fine line between it being good or cringe but for me One Piece it just works so we'll with the material.
Only complaint I have is that the action and fights could be cut a bit better, faster, I'm not getting the right speed feeling for some of them and it's really an editing issue.

Season 2 has great but I'm not a fan of what they're doing with luffy. Doesn't come off as being the strongest in the crew and he just stands there and punches.
Don't like who's playing him either but I guess it's a particularly hard character to embody.

Yeah, luffy doesn't really pop off until crocodile, which is next season; and then he really pops off at enies lobby; really hope they can do those moments justice

I'm actually shocked they can translate One Piece into Live Action especially with those wild character designs. Definitely enjoyed it much more than Season 1.
My son has read a decent chunk of the manga and burned through all 1300 or whatever eps of the anime, but for some reason won't watch the live action. So there is some sort of disconnect there. Then again, I find live action versions of well done anime to be generally atrocious as well (GitS, Cowboy Bepop, Gantz). The only ones that I seem to enjoy (Alice in Borderlands for example) are ones were I am more ignorant of the source.
