Starfield is releasing on PS5 on April 7th. Priced at $49.99 - Pre Orders Available

It depends...imagine if you could double your game sales by going down from 80 to 50 bucks. Aren't you making more money?
You think games like Claire Obscure going viral would be possible without that pricetag?

If games have an almost impulse-buy price i think we would have quite a lot of surprises.

That said not everything would "go viral" if released by 50 bucks or sell the double that they would sell if released for 80 bucks.

I do agree with you that these companies care more about making money than selling more copies which is why i roll my eyes when someone mentions how some sequels are selling slower than their predecessors that were available for 20 bucks on every store after 1 year available vs their sequels at 40 bucks now lol.

They are porting this game 2.5 years after it bombed on other platforms

The least they can do is drop the price

I just can't buy in to it until they update the amount of POI's on planets.
That just killed the game for me.
Edit: They've apparently fixed this so I'm going to go ahead and pre-order as I enjoyed this when I first played it.

Jokes aside though:
PS5 only players will find a game that, on the surface, seems promising enough, but will find mostly disappointment when they start diving deep in. The first 10 ish hours are pretty good, and then it kinda nose dives when you realize every enemy base is the same, almost every planet is barren and empty with nothing to do, and the main quest is…not great.

Not to say there isn't some good shit here though. The factions quests are mostly pretty good, the ship building is very good, and the combat feels decent enough.

Unless that new Terran Armada DLC is good, don't drop $70 on the premium edition. The first DLC looked promising with how it was dealing with more of the weird that I wanted, but ended up being awful.
This is every Bethesda RPG.

Don't think I've seen a game get such insane negative hyperbole thrown at it like Starfield. It's an 85 Meta game and earned that score. Just because it's not the game of the generation doesn't mean it's shit or a "PS3/360 game".

This update is significant. They've added a lot of stuff:

To any PS5 owners considering it, pull the trigger. It's a no brainer at 50 bucks. You'll get a lot of hours out of it.

No identity xbox game will ever launch on PS, bookmark it, no halo, gears, forza, fable, hell i doubt you guys even get perfect dark.
  • Avowed: yes (1 year later) have fun waiting
  • Indiana jones: yes (1 year)
  • Hellblade 2: yes (1 year)
  • Blade: Nope (unless disney rework pub deal, who knows)
  • State of Decay 3: Nope
  • Clockwork Revolution: maybe, leaning toward yes with 1 year wait
  • South of midnight: Nope
you're a fool if you think all XGS games are coming, they will be on a case by case basis
Well, at least this guy was right about Perfect Dark.

Once upon a time i wanted to play this and Indy on PS5.
I already played Indy and it was fun but i have no desire to play this one.

It won't sell much i bet.
This is going to sell on the name Bethesda alone. Add the nice price and it will do fine.

Probably because they knew it wouldn't sell well at $70 due to its reputation and didn't want it to bomb. At $50, they will have more momentum out of the gate and get more players on board.
Yep. It doesn't exist in a vacuum.

One size fits all approach to AAA pricing is why some are struggling more than others.

$50 + a big update is a smart route.

I think the game's really good. It wasn't a masterpiece like it needed to be to "save Xbox" but it's really good on it's own merits. I put 50 hours into it and had a ton of fun. And that was at launch. I'm sure it's much better now.

Resist fellas. It's worse than one can possibly imagine. And I went in with Bethesda having the crown of most hours sunk in to one studio on my Steam account.

The conversation elements are terrible because the cast is like the worst streaming only woke Star Trek ensemble you can imagine. It doesn't even let you choose what you say; just which degree of enthusiasm you want to answer with. Really makes Fallout 4 feel like Planescape Torment.

Gun play is the only part of the game that reaches par.

Exploration is just roaming around vast empty space deserts.

I like how Taur007 wrote "have fun waiting" with such confidence thinking it's some kind of own.

The PS5 folks who were interested in Avowed and now Starfield waited and were rewarded with a cheaper product that's been patched up with lots of features and new content that those of us early adopters at launch didn't get for months.

I'm sure they're oh-so-heartbroken they missed out on day one FOMO for single player games. /s

Tempted to give this another try since I only played for a few hours on GP when it originally launched. Are the enhancements substantial?

After Halo, Gears, Forza Horizon and Fable have already been announced or released on PS5...the news that Starfield is coming out doesn't matter as much anymore, it's just another one (it's strange that it's skipping Switch2).

It's significant mainly because all the Xbox faithful were SO confident that the new change in Microsoft Gaming leadership meant a return to pure exclusivity on Xbox.

I remember reading lots of posts by Xbox faithful on socials boldly assuming that Sharma was going to cancel any and all future PS5 releases, especially after PlayStation started scaling back PC releases.

The fact that Starfield is still going to PS after Phil got the axe left throws a big bucket of cold water on their assumptions.

The port was viable a year ago, when the game still was around and mindshare was kinda murky around it.

In April? Well, good luck. The aura around the project in the gutters and mindshare just not there for double-dipping. Plus the free update introduces so little, it's not worth a PC download, where I own the copy.

But I was reliably told by Jez that Starfield would never come.
"Only 4 games" continues.

I'm tired of telling some of you on here "I told you so" lol

I agree. I think its a great game and one of my favorite RPGs (but I love a lot of Sci-fi stuff and love Bethesda games) lol This should have been a day 1 on all platforms, so they shot themselves in the foot on this one. It will never sell what it could have if it was day 1 on PC, PS and XB. I think MS was banking on it doing Skyrim numbers or something and it ended up hurting them big time.

Its like, we all fucking know its coming to PS5, a source code even leaked a long time ago literally showing it was already coded for PS5 and showed the PS logo and everything...

They say this piece of shit they would never come up in this piece of shit.

They say the fucking smog is the fucking reason for the beautiful fucking sunsets too
