PSSR 2.0 System Wide Toggle Is a Masterstroke For Pro Owners

We all understand that but at the moment it still very much has the look of being ai generated. It's just not a good look. I'm sure it will get better
It's exactly that, it's not even in alpha state. DLSS 2 was shit and yet here we are with DLSS 4.5 which is amazing.

and eventually our choices will be don't play modern games or just accept this evolution of the tech. It is what it is.
That's 100% true. Good thing is by that time the tech will be flawless (hopefully at least).

If Bloober ignores this, they deserve all the shit they should get. Regardless of how much they've been cooking with SH2 and Cronos.
I wanted to like Cronos, picked up the game from Amazon on PS5. Within the first regular enemy encounter, noticed the gunplay was just lacking any sort of oomph. Weapons were also clipping through doors when our character needs to open doors. Had to get a refund for the game unfortunately. SH2 Remake was stellar though.

Lmao

Imagine getting a refund because "The guns clip through the doors"...
"within the first regular enemy encounter"... dang man, that's how much time you put in it eh ? amazing...

Also , the guns in Cronos have more "oomph" than both RE9 and Doom TDA combined - something which you would have seen If you actually played the darned game for more than 5 minutes...

Opinions like these are the exact reason why we keep receiving slop games and at this point, everything is due to player ADHD and OCD, some of you can literally never be satisfied and have the attention span of a hamster😁

That was never the case. DLSS1 was shit, DLSS2 was the best reconstruction for many years.
For me, DLSS 1 was simply awful and unusable. DLSS 2.0 was much better but still suffered from numerous ghosting issues. I remember playing Control with it and I wasn't really convinced. The resolution was perfect, better than native but there were too many artifacts for my liking.

I think it started to be really good at 2.4. I might might be wrong tho, it's been years ^^

I tried FF7 Rebirth on my OLED TV and if you told me I was playing it on PC…I would've believed you.

I'm sure it's better on my PC in many ways…I guess, but I'm honestly starting to care less.

Just watching a replay in GT7..

Not sure if you're actually dumb or being willfully obtuse, but DLSS 5 is not "impressive illumination".

People aren't mocking DLSS 5 for the AI resolution upscaling, we are mocking it for the social media beautifier filter it applies to characters.

90% of what it does is literally about illumination (ray tracing, subsurface scattering, refractions, etc).
"Beautification" (photorealistic lighting) is the side effect and speaking of "dumb" the overreaction about it is borderline retarded.

I think someone said in one of the other PSSR threads that this is one of the ones that is better but still not perfect.
Issues are gone, but still only at 30fps because we have to wait for Bloober to patch PSSR back in Performance Mode. Ironic.

Ta both, I will wait, not because its only in the 30fps mode because I would probably play it that way, but I just read how both modes are basically the same internal res, so no benefit to losing all those frames.

I'll wait on the patchand see if 30fps ends up looking way better or the 60fps mode gets PSSR 2 (again).

Fucking waiting forever to play this game.

The thing I keep thinking about when seeing these games is not just how much better it is than PSSR 1 or how close it maybe to the PC with DLSS 4/FSR4. But rather just how much the gap over the base PS5 running FSR or TAA has grown now?! It's almost laughable.

There were a number of games on the base PS5 that looked so poor, I avoided even playing them (particularly in performance mode). Two examples that come to mind: Stellar Blade and FFVII Rebirth. On the base PS5 I tried Stellar Blade trial for like 30 mins and was like "I'll pass" and I thought it looked very ordinary. Once the PRO update came out, it completely changed the game and it became one of my favorite games this generation. PSSR 1 looked much better than the base PS5 IQ and ran at 80fps to boot. Now with this update, it looks even better and the jump from the base is enormous.

FFVII Rebirth is an obvious one but do folks really remember how bad it looked on the base PS5? Hell even the quality mode looked horrible compared to what it looks like now on PRO with the PSSR 2.0 update. I mean I think it's safe to say that in most of the PRO titles, the 60fps "PRO" modes not only matches but looks noticeably better than the 30fps quality modes on base PS5. Simply awesome stuff!

Remember those "PS5 Pro isn't needed like PS4 Pro was" posts?

Almost as funny as "PS Portal is DOA".

1. PS5 Pro launched at a significantly higher price, with almost no discernible difference in quality and performance in the examples shown during the announcement. Nobody was expecting hardware to increase in price the way it has, nor PSSR2 to exist (nor be this much of an improvement). PS4 Pro was needed because the industry underestimated the proliferation of 4K TVs and demand for high framerate from console gamers. You could argue PS5 Pro is the same for AI upscalers, and still not necessary to the same degree the PS4 Pro was, even if the PS5 Pro is now a much better value proposition.

2. At release, the Portal was just an expensive, bad way to do what was already possible using the PS Remote Play app. We can now stream cloud games (with a sub), quality is significantly better, and there are settings that don't seem to be present in the app. It's still not amazing, but much more capable than the original iteration was - and not a bad purchase if you get it discounted. It's definitely superior to the app now.
