New PlayStation Portal software update adds 1080p High Quality mode and UX refinements

Vita remote play was PS3 & PS4 so even if you use it as an example that would mean Portal will work for PS5 & PS6
That was not what I tried to say. They stopped supporting the devices, even if they (I guess) technically still run the PS5 games.

And PS3 remote play was not a real thing.

Remote play on Vita for PS4 was ok-ish. Used it mainly for Diablo 3. Worked quite well, despite the missing buttons you had to emulate via touch.

Thanks OP, I just updated my daughter's PSPortal, she wouldn't have known there was an option for high quality.
I have to admit PS5 to PSPortal looks even more crisp!

Official Remote Play iOS app has received an update too. Wonder if they've increased the bit rate for this as well? Changelog just says the usual performance improvements.

I got the update, but it rendered my portal useless until I can get home to the console itself after work, thanks to the dumb update bug. Hoping input lag is better and audio delay is fixed

Only 35 games were compatible. And most of them were 2D/pixel-art games.

You couldn't play Call of Duty Ghosts on your Vita .
Controls needed to be remapped because unlike Portal the devices didn't have the buttons & features of PS3 controller also it was a new idea.

In the case of Portal everything is there besides the touchpad which is easily emulated by the touchscreen.

Do you miss the point of what I say on purpose ? This is like the 3rd or 4th time

I tested it out last night playing P3 Reload. Image quality improvement is noticeable, not a game changer though. It's sharp and looks good enough on the small LCD screen - I suppose it might be more apparent on the rumored OLED version. Typically I will see a slight hiccup during a session where I'll retail connection, but image quality will degrade a couple times per play session, but that has not happened to me with 1080 High Quality. My router is fast and my network stable so I do think this may have improved.

Didn't notice any difference in input lag (it's still there) or audio delay. I've never noticed audio delay, but I just use the Portal's speakers or wired headphones. I didn't notice any difference in audio quality either, so it seems like the increased bitrate is dedicated to improving video only.

Haven't tested cloud streaming yet.

To those saying the Portal needs an upgraded WiFi chip, it's using WiFi 5 which should be beyond sufficient for a 25Mbps stream. Even if it was increased to 50 or even 100 Mbps the real-world performance shouldn't run into any limit.

There might not be any technical hurdles, but by not allowing the DS4 on PS5, it make the Dualsense the only controller devs have to optimized their games for, and thus more likely to use the Dualsense features.
I don't think this would have been an issue given that every single PS5 console ships with a DualSense controller.
