Crimson Desert has sold 2 million copies

Solid start, hoping for 3-4-5m sales announcements in coming weeks/months.
U can tell right away devstudio is proud/happy with sales numbers :)

Congrats, but will be interesting to see if these mostly hype based pre-order figures sustain or if it's a flash in the pan like BF6.
 
Funny how From Soft can release overly difficult, unfair, buggy games and people love them for it but a less known developer tries something truly ambitious, that is also difficult, with little hand holding and they get roasted over it - for many unvalid reasons.

Yes there are bugs, like every game, yes it's difficult and obtuse, that's the point.

If it's not for you, go play an Ubisoft icon-riddled game that holds not one of your hands but both.

That's what I think too. I wouldn't necessarily say it's rushed, but it does feel like it could use a lot more polish. I was on the fence, but I ultimately decided to wait. Grabbing it for half price in a few months will be a much better experience.
 
So the company's stock is gonna go up again now. The success is there, and it doesn't matter if some underground site from Brazil gave it a 4.5/10 just because it's not the 9/10 they gave to DA Veilguard.
 
A great start. I'm waiting for some patches before I jump in, all of these overly ambitious open world titles from previously obscure devs ship buggy and in maybe 6 months to a year the experience will be much better
 
Pretty good number, although given the hype...if the reviews were in 90 range (both press and gamers on steam) it would do twice that.
 
Not bad. Obviously the hype for this game was a little bit too much, but I hope the studio makes a profit so they can continue to make more single player games.
 
If we dont hear a peep in upcoming weeks, say by end of april about at least 3m sales i would say game had bad word of mouth and sales numbers being very promising intially died down quickly, if we get at least 3m sales announcement in april, then respectively 4m sales by summer and 5m by end of the year then we have to(and want to) describe game as huge commercial success :messenger_smiling_hearts:
 
It's absolutely fair to compare it to The Witcher 3, Red Dead, and all of the other things that Crimson Desert is clearly desperate to call daddy. But the comparisons that come to my mind while actually playing it are things like Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days, Pentiment, and yes, Dragon's Dogma 2. Games that are unapologetically unique and committed to pursuing an artistic ideal that much of the audience will instinctively bounce off of, because to do anything else would compromise its vision. In Crimson Desert's case, that vision is admittedly muddled, but clear enough to set itself apart.

I'm glad it exists in this form: wobbly, undiscerning, and outrageously janky, but heartbreakingly gorgeous, and so very generous. A game that is designed to be sipped over months, if not years, and is broad and wild enough that, at the very least, it will never be boring.

Crimson Desert's Standout Feature is That It's Crimson Desert and it's Unapologetically Unique.

Despite what you think about Crimson Desert, there's no doubting that it's equal parts unqiue, janky, gorgeous, and never boring.

A bit less than I expected, but still great for a new ip at the end of the day. patches will have to be added quickly, and word of mouth/community will have to give it legs.
 
Good for them i guess... proof that marketing is really all that matters 🤷‍♂️

I dont know if there was a streamer or influencer that they didn't have market their game
