Incredible film...one of the best movie experiences i seen in theaters

what are your overall thoughts on it?

I thought it was great. The cinematography is beautiful, the sound design is immersive, the screenplay packs a lot of information into the movie without losing too much focus, and Hans created yet another banger musical score.

I LOVED it, everything about the movie from the OST to the cinematography is just fantastic

And I'm not that big of a Denis Villeneuve fan, he's been mostly hit or miss for me but his Dune movies so far have been great. As a book reader I especially am happy he brought the weirdness of the books to the live action adapatation

Zendaya is miscast as Chani though

Liked it a lot. Dune is so difficult to turn into a movie while respecting the source and DV managed to pretty much hit the mark.

Needs less Zendaya though. Which is true of most films.

Loved it. Liked it a lot more than the first one in fact. The changes to Chani are ridiculous though and frankly beneath a filmmaker like Villeneuve. How many scenes of her glaring disapprovingly at Paul were there? 20?

It along with the first are magnificent entertainment, storytelling. That they were able to pull it off says a lot about the production leadership.
I enjoyed the movies more than the book.

I don't think it was as good as part I (is that what you meant by Dune 2?), possibly partly because of just the story.

One of the best film series I've seen in a looooong time. Not only is it cinematographically GORGEOUS, but it highly respects the source material.

I absolutely can't wait for Part 3. I hope they re-run the first two in IMAX beforehand, cause they were unbelievable to see in theaters.

Dune is my favourite book, and I think these movies have done them about as well as you can realistically do them for a big cinema audience.
Part 2 is one of my favourite movies. Period. Basically flawless in my eyes. The Dark Messiah scene is absolutely top tier, and elevates the entire film. Movies forgot they could make scenes this riveting.
While Avatar has the best visuals, the underlying story isn't really all that special frankly. Here, the money, time, and visuals are used in a story worthy of the effort.

Bring on Part 3.

Did Timmy even lift once for these movies ?? he looks 140 lbs and him and zendaya look like teenagers if ur gonna be some badas$ warrior leading an army about to fight some holy war put on some mass like Hugh did for Wolverine

also no more spazzing out and screaming at mommy like a little baby probably gonna yell at zendaya in dune 3 wouldn't be surprised

I wish they can bring back part 1 and 2 to IMAX theaters for a limited time before part 3 comes out. I feel like I missed out.

They are a fun watch but I find them a bit "style over substance" to be honest.

I still have to watch the first one, is zendaya part big? How much is she on screen?

She doesn't have that big of a role in part 1.
She becomes a more relevant character with a lot more screen time in part 2.
They also make some changes to her characters to make her more "modern audiences" friendly

I am definitely in the minority, but these movies didn't really do much for me, unfortunately. I don't want to trash them too bad since I will just piss everybody off, lol.

But yeah, specifically, a lot of Part 2 fell flat for me. Like, am I supposed to care about Josh Brolin's character killing Batista's character? Batista was a complete wet rag who was getting his shit pushed in by everybody. Then he gets easily killed by Josh Brolin's character and I am like...um, am I supposed to feel something about these two?

Similarly, Feyd...why should I care about this guy? He kills some random Atreides dude in some Arena match. Ok....great. There is nothing interesting between him and Paul. Why should I care about that duel?

Paul Atreides and Zendaya had no chemistry and the most important scene where their relationship should develop is completely skipped over.

I can keep going, but I will stop there so I can save everyone's brain cells. Nobody wants to listen to my ranting, lol.

I think my favorite part of the movies so far was that vision of a possible future in Part 1 where that one dude becomes like a mentor to Paul instead of his enemy. That was pretty cool.
