Whilst the internet is set ablaze due to the price increase for the Playstation 5 family of systems (tm), let's put it all on the line and place out bets. Will good guy Sony launch PS6 as a digital only system but let you slot your current $79.99 disc drive into it or do you think they will go down the path of total greed and require a completely new propriety PS6 only disc drive to be purchased? OR, do you think PS6 is just straight up a digital only system with no option for physical games?
Please no, "well they can't let you use the same disc drive because it'll be a completely new architecture and design." That is a poor excuse. The concept of the add-on drive existed long enough for them to have factored it into PS6's design. Any choice to not use it is purely intentional and not mandatory to make ps6 work as a physical piece of hardware (in my opinion). It's an add on disc drive. It's not rocket science.
I for one look forward to the Frankenstation 6.
