Metro Exodus Is Severely Underrated

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
Everyone talks about that Stalker game but the Metro series and especially Exodus are horrendously underrated.

Wow, the graphics in Exodus.... And the immersion.... And realism. This is one of the best looking first person shooters I've ever seen.

Pretty much everything is well done in this game. The thunderstorms in Volga (?) are by far some of the best I've ever seen in gaming.

I really really hope the new sequel doesn't get canned or anything because I'm really looking forward to it.

I dont know if i'd call it underrated, game got received very well and was pretty famous back when it released. Especially since it was one of the first to implement ray tracing

In 2019 Game Awards fucking Outer Worlds was nominated for Game of the year instead of this game, which is one of the biggest crime in gaming history imo. Insanely underrated game.

I got really into one of the older games (I own Exodus but haven't started yet). But I ran to a serious bug where I need to change a air filter, and when I do.....nothing happens so I die. Reload....same thing happens.

Wasn't willing to restart the game at that time, but it's been a long time so maybe I'll give it another go.

exodus can't hold a candle to the previous 2 games, which i love. the cosy community thing got old for me real quick, & the missing sense of claustrophobia, maybe the series most distinctive quality, ended up basically resulting in just another run-of-the-mill fps...

Eeehhhh... it's rated about as it should

Artyom! You made it!

Artyom! Look at this!

Oh Artyom, I will feel better soon Artyom Artyom.

Artyom? Artyom! Ar...ty...om...

Loved it. Showcase early RTX game too.

Just shorten the dialogue next time. The whole week after I played it I heard the various characters saying Artyom over and over in my head.

I've only finished 2033. It was pretty good.

Tried Exodus, and it seems like a good game, but I fucking hate the dialogue. Every NPC treats you like you are Jesus or something.

You change a light bulb, and everyone goes:

"Did you see that? Only Artyon would be capable of doing that"
"Truly the best we have"
"Artyon, could you please get some rocks?"

Terrible dialogue with terrible fake russian accent to go with it.

Since you have a silent protagonist, seems like everyone are just bossing you around.

I only played it recently. It was a great game overall, but I have to say that most of it taking place on the surface and in open areas with multiple optional objectives took away from the experience rather than added to it. It was excellent on a technical level and mechanics/ combat were very good even on a controller, but man did I miss those tunnels.

Actually, it's so good, I feel like taking a shower after playing it. Everything looks so convincingly gross.

I bought it at launch and thought it was bad. Loved the first two games, but never finished Exodus.

Has some of the worst enemy AI I've ever seen too.

Completely agree. The storyline, characters, soundtrack, level design, atmosphere were superb.

I grew up obsessively playing Goldeneye 64 and it is my all time favourite game, Metro Exodus was weirdly the closest thing to it. Massive semi open world, first person shooter with immense immersion and beautiful atmospheres and environments.

I liked 2033 and Last Light more but Exodus was cool as well, at least until you reached the third foresty biome.
It had no vibe IMO. It felt rushed and so I had to rush it. But everything else was fun. Don't miss out on the DLCs!

The whole Metro trilogy is fantastic. They were on sale as a bundle for around $25 during the last sale.

With Awakening it's four games. It's also a worthy entry in the series

Underrated in what sense? On Steam all three games in the franchise sit at around 90% positive reviews.

I personally liked Exodus a lot, and now that I've got a better GPU I really need to try the RT version, I've heard the ray tracing implementation in this game is really good.

The voice acting and story were terrible for me. Gameplay was a tad mediocre. Other than the graphics, it's really not great at all and even the graphics has lost it's luster now.

One could make the argument that it's overrated.

I wanted to love it because 2033 and First light are top tier, but the semi open world stuff kind of killed it for me, Metro is at it's best in the half life linear style progression.

I completely zoned out by the time i got to the wooded area.

Iconic games, and my 2019 game of the year— after playing stalker with its exhausting health systems metro id gladly play again.

One of those games with very high highs and very low lows.

Super immersive, detail oriented and moody, but the fucking AI barely works, and the NPC's talk for 15 minutes straight.

Underrated? Where? I thought it was a beloved and well-regarded game.

I loved it personally, it's a banger, we need another one.

You must live in a different universe because the Metro series is not underrated at all. They're highly praised and quite popular. Metro Exodus alone sold more than 10 mil. Dafuq you talking about? New to gaming?

Awesome game. Looked and played great on the One x. Preferred it a lot more over the previous games, which were basically crawling around in a dark sewer/subway sims, with the combat of a cod campaign.

I got somewhere in the Caspian desert on a train and then I shut it off. Last Light was the last Metro game I completed. Exodus could do a lot without the dialogue.

OP, I'm right with you. Playing Exodus EE atm and just finished the church in Volga. Certainly this is giving STALKER vibes and at Hardcore difficulty I'm loving the challenge. It's funny to see the comments about NPC dialog, and while being true (they indeed are not the best), it's good enough to complement the best parts of the experience ie the atmosphere, the sense of exploration and discovery, unscripted moments of being down to your last two shells and your last two minutes of filters while you hear a heap of mutants heading your way, desperately trying to get to safety somehow.

Wanted to post something about the game but damn, I remember nothing about except having fun, and thiking the final section felt quite rushed and worse than everything that came before.

Are 4A Games still working on a new Metro? I haven't heard anything from them for a while now.

Agree with this. Playing 2033 + Last Light on Ranger Hardcore was incredible experience. I got on with Exodus but really didn't care for the open world and fell off it in the last third

Who said it was underrated? It was a big deal when it was released. I really enjoyed it on PC, but waited for the path tracing update.

Really? I tried to like it but could never get into it. There was just something so shallow about it, and the dialogue felt forced and amateurish to me. Maybe it's just not my genre, it felt dated to the point of being archaic almost.

Most of all, I never had fun and wasn't impressed by the graphics despite playing it on my then brand new RTX 3080.

if I remember correctly, there was a fan-made patch that 'fixes' or rather overhauls enemy AI and spawn positions.
