Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

Holy shit, Metro Exodus textures haven't aged well

PC Enhanced Edition?

Played this recently and didn't see anything like this, maybe a bug or it didn't fully load?

Yes. And you didn't see them because you didn't look in those areas. Textures in general look awful in the open areas, specially the ground

So Forza Horizon 6 quality mode on the xsx is native 4k 30 fps. Just like the cross gen Forza Horizon 5 in 2021. This is basically a cross gen game. In 2026. Insane.

I thought only Sony studios were wasting the PS5 GPU on rendering native 4k. What a bunch of idiots.

Kinda, yeah, but it means that the jump in fidelity on the Next Gen Systems will be quite meaningfully, as there, they definatly won't be rendering higher than native 4K as well. You'll get native 4k + 60fps + improved graphical fidelity=not bad at all me thinks.

Both next gen consoles are gonna ship with advanced upscaling, I really doubt devs are gonna target native 4k when it really isn't necessary with good upscaling. Already some ps5 pro games have lower native resolutions than the base ps5 but have much better iq because of pssr2 and they push other graphics settings instead.

James Bond is running at 60 fps on the Pro. It will be interesting to see what downgrades were needed to get the framerates up to 60 fps. IIRC, the explosions and other physics effects on the plane were dropping below 30 fps in the original footage.

This gameplay looks so bad lmao. "We have uncharted at home" vibes.... Somehow, world renowned spy James Bond is more stiff and robotic than Nathan drake from ps3.... Once the hand to hand combat starts, all the guys stop shooting and watch(1:35 in the video). This looks so bad. Horrible actually.

That was obviously lack of optimization. You dont just "downgrade" some things and go from 20 to 60

Yeah, those animations are awful even compared to PS3 Uncharted. There's no fluidity or momentum at all in the transition to melee.. I can't believe he literally stop to play the animation, no motion blending at all.

But I like all those effects and explosions at 60fps. I haven't followed the game at all, but going by this footage looks like a fun time to me.

Agreed, reminds me of Splinter Cell Conviction crossed with Max Payne, going to be a fun game even if it doesn't climb to the top of the graphical fidelity charts.

Yep, and animations aside shooting itself looks very, very similar to Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy, which is a huge draw for me as those are my favorite console shooters. Hopefully there's plenty of shootouts in here.

Also, it WILL eventually top some graphical fidelity chart once Path Tracing drops on PC.

This wont be a shooty shooty game all the time. You cant even fire your gun unless you granted license to kill so dont expect a tps shooter here imo. There are more gameplay systems in place

Oh I see, understandable given the studio's background.

Well, even more impressed by the way those shooting mechanics look then, if they're not a major focus.

Says who? They mentioned the license to kill mechanic but never mentioned the frequency. Looking at the target audience for this game, there'll definitely be more shooting than not.

Just like the hitman games, the animations are bad not very fluid. However, in the hitman games, the pace of the game is much slower and thus more acceptable. Shooting doesn't really play a big part in hitman. That is not the case here.

But how is the shooting and animations looks bad to you? I dont understand. I like good animations aswell and i think it looks good in 007 and a far cry from hitman games

They are incredible stiff and not fluid at all. The transition animations are not great at all. Furthermore, some of the fighting animations are made to look worse due to the lack of impact. For example, the party on the receiving end of the punch does not have an appropriate reaction to the level of force being applied.

Edit: look at 0:35 when the enemy is shot for example, he's in a hunched state about to shoot his gun prior to getting shot. When he gets shot, he stands up straight for some weird reason before falling back down. The momentum of the bullets should make him fall on his back, instead we get this weird dying animation that makes no sense in the context of the action. The animations just look unnatural. Even the running animation just looks off and stiff.

Just to refresh everyone's memory, this is what PS4 era games look like. I dont think Star Fox is up there.

I dont know. Maybe its because its a faithful remake of a Nintendo 64 game and the levels just dont feel like they belong in the current gen. Keeping the stage layouts the same was a mistake. The number of ships on screen, and just the size of it all feels off. I noticed this with the TLOU1 remake. It looked dated because of the ps3 era level design despite having virtually the same assets as Part 2. I think they shouldve made this game bigger. Maybe ditch the onrails nature of the levels and allow you to fully explore. Maybe that wouldve forced them to put in more effort into the level design and make it feel like an actual open world instead of whatever this is.

i do like the water textures and lighting, but the rest just feels off.
I think you're selling Star Fox short here, especially when comparing it to a game like Ratchet and Clank (2016). Star Fox is definitely not a generation behind when it comes to graphics.
Something to keep in mind, Star Fox is running at 60 during gameplay while RnC runs at 30 fps on PS4 and Pro.

The Hitman aspects of the game are what is going to differentiate it from others in the genre. Gunplay looks serviceable.

I do really hate regenerative health, especially in 3rd person shooters. The gameplay loop of going to cover, shooting enemies, enemies shoot you, then hide behind cover to regain health is terrible. It is why I don't really enjoy Uncharted or Gears of War

Are you all ready for gta6 tomorrow lol

Era poster has a pretty convincing theory on why we will definitely see gta6 tomorrow before their earnings call next week. Last trailer was also released in May on a Tuesday before their earnings call.

I was thinking May 15, tmrw would be even better. Doubt there will be any real gameplay in it, but it'll look even better than the last time we saw it.

this will be the last trailer I watch for this game

I do hope so, it's about time to show the work to public if they are absolutely ready about the Nov date , been a year without any new info is a new low already

Ah yes, trailer because.... earning calls ? XD

No one knows if GTA6 will be even released this year. It was supposed to launch in fall of this year but it is already may and there are 0 ads for GTA6. In marketing you want to launch marketing about 6-8 month before releasing product. Which means no one knows if it will be releasing this year after all. IT might be delayed by another quarter or half a year.

Wow it achieved 60 fps at the cost of the most barren empty world. I mean literally compare them side by side, theres nothing happening in Star Fox lol. It should be 120fps at least then. Typical Nintendo, lowest effort possible as usual.

Definitly a big performance uplift compared to the last PS5 showing which ran like dogshit when something exploded.

Nice, not touching it until the path tracing patch, hopefully it isn't too long. Very disappointing it was already delayed and still doesn't launch with it. Oh well, got a lot of other stuff to finish off until then.

GTA VI 2027, if it s ready for this year they would have showed gameplay trailer already.
