Is Directive 8020 another woke Slop?

I think it's great that SuperMassive are empowering their Black employees to create a game that speaks to their culture and unique perspective.

...oh.
DING-DING-DING

Seems we have some diversity issues here, boyos!

Why we should ignore this shit? I'm interested in this game, and that woke idiocy is a major minus to me.
Because any reaction, positive or negative, is engagement. It's a polarization marketing tactic. They want you talking about this.

It's the old saying: "Any press is good press"

But yeah, don't buy the game if you're not interested. I mean, that's an easy decision man.

It really doesn't work like that. All games that got big anti woke push back bombed hard, that sends the message to publishers...

This video explains why publishers hate indepentent media (youtube) with a passion:

I have to say I have played a few Supermassive games and have never really felt they were woke, but maybe I am not seeing it.

The quarry and Until Dawn certainly didn't feel woke, they had black and Asian characters but that doesn't make the game woke IMO, as long as it makes sense in the world building.

It doesn't work, but that doesn't mean they don't use it as a tactic. Maybe this studio hasn't gotten the memo lol

I know those other games bombed hard. Their plan clearly backfired. Totally aware by all of the threads on here about them.

These woke threads are getting a bit tiresome though. I'm glad you find value in them, but like…I get it guys.

The guy in the sports bra is uhh....
Any context?
It's your typical tracker for sports/exercise

Some monitor things like heart rate and breathing too. In the game I think they're in cryo and it tracks their vitals.

This game is definitely for the "modern audience". It also makes no sense. The clearly East Asian girl has a regular Western last name of 'Cooper', whereas the black girl has the (very common in Korea) last name of 'Young'. I guess this just bugs me, but it's so annoying.

The black chick reminds me of Dola Rashad (dunno if was the face model).

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3568698/

Yeah, just like the Asian character, the Black character doesn't look bad to me. Personally, I just don't like when studios reduce all criticism or apprehension to "people just hate Black protagonists." The issue is usually whether the character is actually well written, likable, and believable. Too often studios focus more on the identity checklist surrounding the character than on making the character genuinely compelling on their own.

Does seem like a lot of games lately have a black woman as a protagonist or main side kick.

The fat chick devs just need to make themselves feel better so they think making girls ugly and men less masculine is the real world representation.
Apparently, black women make up the majority of the gaming demographic going by Western dev's retarded view of the world.

All their games are proper 7/10 experiences (and that includes UD). I see nothing wrong with that.

I've only played Until Dawn, Man of Medan, Little Hope and The Quarry.
IMO only UD is a 7/10 experience. The others are like a 5, they are like UD without the novelty, with shittier production values and worse writing/acting.

I've heard House of Ashes is supposedly good, but at this point I'm done with the studio. I might try it out if it ever comes to the basic Ps+ tier.

samantha cooper? looks like a chinese but with a western name?

meh DEI cringers with their racist casting against non-indian asians, again

I'm gonna get something else off my chest. Just because I'm not personally into gay relationships or themes in entertainment doesn't mean I hate gay people.

I'm straight. I'm attracted to women, and that naturally influences the kind of shit I connect with. So when a game leans heavily into themes I don't personally relate to, I'm highly likely not gonna be interested in that shit.

At the same time, I can understand that people on the other end want representation and stories they connect with too. I don't give a flying fuck about developers making those themes available to you. Personally I actually encourage it. There's a big difference between "this content isn't for me" and hating people. There's also a major difference between optional content and mandatory content, and I think a lot of the industry backlash comes from developers not understanding how to properly execute those two.

Let the wokies have their games. They clearly hate me as a "cis white male* so they will not get my money or support.

The characters look like they've definitely been run through the usual DEI checklist, but the plot of the game sounds interesting. I'm a horror fan, though, so I'm looking at it through that lens. Based on that, it's hard to say whether it contains the typical activist drivel without more information.
