Makes total sense

Now we will see if MS follows
Rock and a hard place for them, ideally yes, exclusives (and that would potentially help PS fans also as Sony would have to up their game and also provide games to fill niches such as FPS), however, Gamepass has meant they need to make money on these games and not just effectively give them away free so they need those PS sales unless they decide to change the way Gamepass works (only free on Gamepass after X months?)

Their output has been bad, mainly the last couple of years, but this is disingenuous AF lol. Obviously this doesn't include games they ported to PC so there's many Sony games from the last 6 years missing here.

Who actually started this rumour because it wasn't Jason I feel like he just confirmed it and now he got credit for it. I think it might be neogaf sweet heart jez g…

Spider-Man 2 on PC flopped and he's a bigger draw than Wolverine.

I am one of those that bought Spider-Man on Steam, but the thing is the story was very meh, Peter Parker just sucked as a character in that game, and so did pretty everyone else. The action was okay but after playing through the game I had no further need to play more of the same when the story didn't do anything for me. So skipped SM2, and would have done so even if there weren't all the warnings about DEI infestation in the game.

Wolverine at least introduces a new type of game play, so its' got that going for it. I think it would have done better on PC than SM2.

It also includes a bunch of games that haven't even been released yet.

Hope they get out of the GAAS hellscape they've put themselves into because, while I might personally don't like most of their games, I'd rather they experiment on cheap SP stuff like that GOW metroidvania than just wasting and burning millions in MP games while some won't even be released.

I'm pretty sure Hermen Hulst swallowed that bitter pill from the higher-ups. The whole "easy shortcut will explode revenue" illusion they sold the board totally flopped, screwing him and Jim Ryan. Hoping he gets kicked out next, just like the other shady guy who pushed it.
Coldly speaking, that's the smartest move anyway. A platform needs strong exclusives and real differentiators, even movie/show stream have that, and consoles need it even more.

This is the kind of news that sounds bigger to Sony than it does to anyone else.
You mean to Sony fanboys. The narrative goes a bit like this:

>OMG, Sony, stop porting games to PC! You're devaluing your brand and killing reasons to own a PlayStation.
>See, your ports aren't selling. You're damaging your brand! PC gamers don't care about your games.
>OMG, finally, suck it PC gamers. You can go back to begging for sweet, sweet PS exclusives lmfao!

Curious to see what 2 or 3 exclusive games they're going to be using to try to sell the PS6 for the first 6 or 7 years of the generation. If the PS4-PS5 cross-gen was bad I can't even imagine what the PS5-PS6 is going to be like...

Damage is already done. Nobody wants Sony's agenda driven trash and most of their gaas attempts are failures.

Sony isn't looked at anymore as some barometer of quality but as a laughing stock. They strayed too far from their identity and now it will take them several years to regain any sort of good reputation back. But compounded with recent price increases across the board, I doubt they will be able to recover like the way they did from PS3-PS4.

I asked PC gamers why they didn't buy SM2.

The vast majority told me nothing about woke. That controversy kinda came after. Initially the reason was that PC gamers would not buy a game that wasn't new. Since SM2 wasn't day and date on PC nobody was going to pay the amount Sony charged.

Keep in mind they charged "full price" but they consider different skus different products. So the "full price" on PC was 10 dollars cheaper than the game was on PS5 already. That apparently wasn't considered. SM2 sales on pc were abysmal, you are correct, which is why we are doing this today.

So I asked would they buy GTAVI at full price. They said hell yes, almost to a man(a few don't care for gta). Doesn't matter it's not day and date. Doesn't matter it's an "old game" like SM2 was when it hit PC.

So I think that the Spider-Man games aren't as appealing to the PC crowd as GTA games and I think the reason is the Spider-Man games are rated PG13 might as well be rated G, and GTA is an adult game. Wolverine is also an adult game. So maybe it will do better on PC....but alas this decision has stymied my research. Either that or they just hate Sony games. If you do hate Sony games I wish you would be a bit more selective and let their gaas die too. You PC people supporting marathon has caused all kinds of consternation.

They'll get there eventually. The majority of the in development GAAS titles were cancelled and that initiative has long since been buried with just a few stragglers like Horizon and Fair Games still in development that were greenlit many many years ago.

But that fuck up has caused this dead period where they wasted time on cancelled GAAS projects and now don't have anything to release.

A game published by Sony says hello?

Question Mark What GIF by MOODMAN

Okay let me rephrase this like you're a complete idiot unable to understand a simple sentence.

Successful Third-Party publishers like Kojima or Shift UP will say middle finger to Sony and go. That's a good thing.
Rephrase :
Successful Third-Party publishers who happens to be both devs & publishers like Kojima or Shift UP, will say middle finger to Sony and go find some other partners to help finance & publish their production. That's a good thing.

Why are you making it as if you did not understand what i was saying ?
Before using stupid GIF & memes like an idiot, because that's the only reason you wrote your dumbass clever answer and everyone knows it, try to understand the fucking sentence you're quoting.

Shift Up already announced they are self publishing Stellar Blade 2, and being multi-platform at launch. We'll see about Kojima.

If the portable is really released as PlayStation 6 Portable that runs all the games. Then everything will be cross gen with PS5.

I just fear that most studios just don't have anything anywhere near full production in the pipeline with games taking 5-6 years to make, the launch window of the PS6 isn't looking so rosy.

I am able to understand your post, it just isn't based on reality. Hideo Kojima (not a third-party publisher) isn't saying "middle finger to Sony" nor are they finding "some other partners to help finance & publish their production", as their next fucking major game is literally being funded, produced, and published by Sony!
