The BBC are reporting that Maresca is going to replace Guardiola.

The rumor is that Ancelotti rushed to renew his contract with the Brazilian national team for this exact reason.

Renewed it since he thought that Brazil might try and go for Pep? I guess coaching a national team could be the next step for him since he's done so much in club football. He has talked about Brazil before and because he's a big supporter of Catalan independence he might not want to coach the Spanish team. So it would make sense. I did think it was odd that he renewed the contract since he's not been in the job for that long.

I've wondered if long-term City might look to bring in Luis Enrique since he's of a similar school of thought as Pep. But he's apparently on the verge of signing a new contract with PSG and so Maresca is a bit of a stop gap who can hit the ground running since he's familiar with the set up.

With Mourinho going back to Real Madrid it would be fun if Pep went back to Barcelona. But it seems they're pretty happy with Flick and he did just sign an extension through to 2028.

I think Iraola would be the best bet. He's not taken on another job yet and has worked miracles with Bournemouth.

Bournemouth haven't been beaten since Jan and are sitting 6th. Considering they sold they're best defenders in the summer, plus got rid of they're best player in Jan to City, the fact that they're 6th shows Iraola is one of the best managers in the league. A strong contender for manager of the season.

Spurs getting relegated would be funny. But you can't convince me that Arsenal winning the league is funnier than them bottling it once again.
