Speaking of which, has there been any other case of mangakas coming from the same family? No, not the kind like Togashi and his wife, but like Kishimoto and his brother.

Also, speaking of copying, I am also interested if there has been any particular high-profile/well recognized plagiarism case in the world of manga. Has there been any case like this?

This article lists quite a few: A Tradition in Plagiarism

Togashi and his brother.

And yeah, there would be more examples. It's not that exceptional.

A bunch of them.
Mega Baka would be a spectacular example, all the stuff in red comes from other works:

Wolf Guy vol 1

Two dudes made this? Not a woman? Fun so far. Inugami seems like a cool dude albeit a bit generic. But hey, the arrogant "forced" delinquents are always fun, generic or not.

The art is... interesting. I really love some of the deranged facial expressions, but it's kind of boring outside that.

Anyway, I'll keep reading for now. Guess I'll have to steel myself for the rape stuff (if it bothers me in the first place).

Some super disturbing stuff happens later on in this series... I stopped reading.

I just got caught up with HxH and I don't remember half of this shit.

Also: Is MAR still updated? I stopped around some big tournament thing and never went back....I think.

Yeah you say that now, but like so many of us...you'll see...you'll see.

Hunter X Hunter: A

Whoooooo, no fucking Hiatus. We're clear for another 10 chapters brehs.

Anyways, this chapter was good fun and at the same time shit got real. Ging showing that he's not just the bum that he looks like and any chapter with Hisoka can never get less than an A. Interesting that Ilumi is given 95 points on Hisoka's scale of power (which I trust) compared to those other guys that were 90 and less. Then, shit got real with mentions of Killua, can't wait to see the next chapter.

Maybe I am super insensitive guy but though I am surprised about the... development... of the manga, I am not 'disturbed' by it.

The only kind of manga I cannot stand is guro stuff.

Past the point of what's translated?

I think so since IIRC the group who was doing it was very slow and waited for Volume Tankubon raws to use.

That development killed whatever i had left for that series (which says something since i don't really mind that stuff most times) and the slow trans was another nail to the coffin imo.

i am really glad hxh is back it means i don't have to depend solely on one piece for weekly entertainment. I am really interested in seeing Leorio and that ninja guy (hanzo?)

I found this on Something Awful. The original source is another poster from that forum (and although I don't think I can access that source, a mod there backed it up. It's about Hunter x Hunter.

http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3442177#post396356861

A reliable source in the anime industry informs me: "I met this guy working at Madhouse, and he was complaining about how Togashi (the HxH manga author) wanted the anime as a secure source of income. The Madhouse guy didn't seem to think it'd succeed though, since the entire thing is slated for only 36 episodes or so, and there's no way to animate the Chimera Ant arc. He also mentioned that the manga would be stopping again in December."
So yeah, don't get your hopes up.

I hope this isn't true.

Honestly, I don't remember. I only read through what I did in a one-off. I sometimes read a bunch of random stuff to find new/interesting things, and that just happened to be one of them.

Say, the art produced by Kishi's younger (?) brother in 666 also wasn't that bad, although it was very similar in style with Kishi. And the fact that 666 managed to reach all the way to volume 19 before ending indicated that the manga was quite popular too, yeah?

What happened to him anyway? Buried under the shadow of his own brother?

He just finshed writing Blazer Drive a year ago or so, not sure what manga he's working on now.

Anyway, on the art argument. Complexity and depth in art isn't the only thing that should be considered when defining quality art for a manga. Flow, composition, panel usage, etc are all important. For example, Akira Toriyama doesn't draw as detailed as other artists but he knows how to make scenes and how to make the action flow from one panel to the next. That's why he's a darn good artist even though his style isn't as fantastically detailed as other manga artists.

I think the worst you ca say about Masashi (Naruto) is that he's inconsistent. When he nails it, he nails it but when he doesn't, he really doesn't. Excellent flowing action scenes run in the blood though, Seishi does them fantastically in his series. There are som really cool sequences in Blazer Drive that he drew really well.

How is it impossible to animate the Chimera Ant arc? That's what everyone wants to see goddammit

If true (someone else in that SA thread claims the new HxH anime is going to have more episodes than what that source claims), it'd have to be because that arc is so violent and dark. I can't see any other reason.

F for fuck all of you, especially Togashi.
lol

Togashi will do enough to get a Vol or 2 out and then he going on break is what i think.
As for the anime redoing everything and not doing the arc everyone wants to see is so fucking stupid.
All we can hope for is that ratings good so they increase the ep count .

Bleach last twelve chapters

This has been awesome

Naruto

WHAT WHAT WHAT...

Who the fuck is Tobi?

Edit: Who was that person saying Naruto looks like someone from their past? This was in last weeks not this weeks chapter.

A shit scanner has been plotting to steal our series to make money off of them. They won't be able to succeed, but I'm still wondering if I should smack a bitch in case they do get the resources to try later.

It will be interesting to see what kind of manga Kishimoto, Oda, and Kubo will make once they have finished with their current respective mangas.

Is One Piece Oda's first manga...? I know about the Romance Dawn but has he ever made manga outside the OP universe or has he ever been an assistant for another manga before he got famous...?

What about Kishimoto?

As for Kubo I know about Zombie Powder... I heard it was discontinued due to low popularity.

How do you go about "stealing" a series?

CaptYamato said:

It's Dan, Tsunade's former lover.

Laughing Banana said:

Depends on how low you're willing to go. This particular culprit has in the past been willing to steal cleans and translations from other groups and assemble them in order to put competing releases out on the same day without actually really doing anything.

He was an assistant for Watsuki during Kenshin.

I don't know about the others but Oda used to be a assistant for 3 people most well know person is Nobuhiro Watsuki .
OP is his only manga he ever made not counting one shots .
After OP he does not plan to do any more long running manga maybe some one shots of course this can change but that is what he said last time people ask him about it.

As for Kishimoto i think i remember him saying he wanted to do some gang manga not to certain on that .

Ah! I knew he look familiar.

So who do you guys think the guy under the mask is? I know someone said the Sage but that would be obvious because who else would call Peins eyes his? So I am thinking mega twist and it will be the first. Once Madara sees him, he breaks free, and helps Naruto. So we get:

Sauce vs Naruto 2
First vs Madara 2

Ending with Naruto handing Sauce his ass.

Going to write my fan fic now because no way something that awesome happens.

Edit: Why does no one seem to care about what happened to Yamato?

They probably will just retire

there was an art piece he did for it also.

Poor Watsuki :( After Kenshin he seemed to just slip into irrelevancy :(

Also it appears there has been a mistranslation on the Naruto chapter.

Naruto is supposedly saying that it would be lame if he got saved by Hinata twice.

All three of these dudes have to be so filthy rich by now. I wonder how much Viz makes off of Naruto alone. You know Kis gets a mad bonus every year.

it can't be the first because he's sealed inside the shinigami along the 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

To be fair Busou Renkin was alright enough to get an anime and stuff.

What is he doing right now anyways? I mean, besides sitting on top of all the money he made from Kenshin.

I am surprised he did not do another fictional-historical manga after his success with Kenshin. What a turnaround from Kenshin to a completely fantasy manga like Busou Renkin.

Mitsuru Adachi (Touch, H2) and his brother Tsutomu Adachi, Tsutomu passed away in 2004, I've never read anything by Tsutomu though. Mitsuru's manga Touch was also focused on sibling rivalry as one of the main theme.

He's doing a series called Embalming which started with 2 short stories but got a serialization for it in Jump Square magazine called Embalming -The Another Tale of Frankenstein.

Its been going from 2007 till now

That's what you think! Nothing is what it seems in Kis' world.

Don't ruin my fan fic dammit. That's like the best possible ending to this arch.

Edit: ok meds kicked in and I am starting to mis place words. Gn

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask but since it's still about manga, does anyone know what manga artists use for coloring their covers/spread? I know it's probably different for different artists, but something like this:

1BMpi.jpg

Is it just watercolor? Or different? Is there a name for the media? (I know nothing about coloring/painting but I'm curious)

A bit late for this point, but in terms of straight up dynamics and action, Yusuke Murate (ES21) is top of my list.

Question: It was a while ago but, what was GAF's consensus on kishi's baseball oneshot? Did GAF hate it? I thought it was kind of neat and had some potential (despite it's odd style)

I've checked it out, and I am somewhat impressed by how "neat" the art is. Hmm, how should I explain this...... it feels very "orderly". Whilst arts like One Piece, for example, is "chaotic" (this is not a sling to One Piece), this one feels very... "structured."

Gah it's difficult to put my feelings into words.

What's more interesting is that Hisoka STILL refuses to think about fighting Illumi at all. They're complete bros Gon-Killua style. It's crazy.

It's nuts.

He's a dispensable clone! Clones don't have feelings. Duh!

How long is it going to take to relay the information that they know where Kabuto is hiding?

It was way too similar to Major.

I would have probably enjoyed it more if I hadn't known Major before it at all. It just took the entire thing into a one-shot.
