Yeah, trying to get something trending is annoying enough, but then putting up an image that says that they did is just attention whorish and annoying.

I don't see any other company doing it, and the only thing I can comparing it to is game publishers asking for "Likes" to release some screens or video- but at least that results in the consumer getting something. Putting up a graphic that basically says "Look at what we did. We are great" is beyond stupid.

Yeah but look at the BBC putting twitter hash tags up at the opening of every show they produce now.

At least you now don't have as much of the Cole and Lawler this is trending now its an inoffensive logo on the bottom of the video.

I just don't understand why they won't turn Cena heel. I understand that he sells a lot of merch to kids but still.

Look at the attitude era for a second. Austin, Rock, Jericho, HBK, Triple H, and even the Undertaker had successful heel runs. And guess what? It probably even made them more popular.

John Cena is just so so stale. He's just completely boring. Same shit everyweek. Change it up, Vince. Please!
I am not convinced a heel turn will suddenly make him enjoyable, fresh, and exciting to watch overnight. You are kidding yourself if you think he is. He hasn't had an enjoyable feud or match in years. His stuff with Punk in July-August was sloppy as shit in the ring, and the promo work was all Punk in the 2-3 promos or however many it may have been.

In my belief, it's better if he just took about six months off, maybe a year. He is just too crammed down our throats where every week there is more people sick of his character. The writing, even aside from the Cena character, is still absolute garbage. Nobody cares about Miz or Truth. The midcard today is the same as it was in 2009. The tag division, which we thought was heading somewhere, is still an after-thought. Del Rio has been booked like utter dog shit since the Rumble, and Punk has become Cena Junior since MitB.

Plenty of shows now have hashtag watermarks on the bottom corner of the screen, I'm noticing it a lot in first run primetime shows this season. I guess it lets the broadcasters know how actively viewers are engaged with the product.

Thing is, double double E gets to put on a live program so they see this as free reign to let their twitter presence dominate airtime, interfering with the product rather than being an active barometer.

Turning Cena heel is not the answer. An entertaining John Cena will not save this product for those of us who don't like Cena.

Skysports have used this before to actively engage with users for instant feedback for their sports coverage.

Social media isn't the worst thing WWE has done, it was removing the rapper gimmick from Cena and turning him face in the first place.

All I know is that Cena's dad needs to be on the roster as a manager.

Thats about the only thing I got from last night. Cena turns heel, and his dad becomes a Cornette style manager for him.

That, and how did Nash lose the ability to cut a promo? When did this happen? Gaf is letting him by with a pass, and I don't get it. I love the dude, and always will, but what the hell happened to his promo skills???????????

If you aren't given free reign to:
a. Bury talent
b. Make gay jokes
c. Make harsh personal comments

You've essentially taken away all of the tools Nash had.

Did last night make you want to pay the 50 bucks for SS? I don't think I will be buying it. It looks like garbage from top to bottom.

Plywood, your avatars always make me want to open 32 tabs on my computer!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just began listening to the latest Art Of Wrestling podcast where Colt Cabana interviews Daniel Bryan. The beginning has already made it my favourite episode.

We find out from Bryan that Teddy Long likes to call him Soul Man Danny B!

Yeah, it was great. I got the feeling that Bryan is kind of unhappy in the WWE though. He seems like he preferred the Indies to the WWE.

That's sort of true of any profession. In a large faceless corporation you don't get the opportunity to have the sort of individualism or creative motivation as you do if you're self-employed or with a small business.

But it's a trade off that so many of us make due to the increased pay and prestige.

If they went ahead with the logical option and started building him up to cash in (and win) at WM28, I'm sure he'd be perfectly content.

True. He's got to feel like they have some faith in him. Of all the people in the MITB match, he won AND they are having him possibly co-mainevent one of the biggest Wrestlemanias in years.

He comes across as a man who appreciates his craft and would work in high school gyms and be happy if it meant working with great wrestlers.

To be honest, I'm even surprised they're starting to build Bryan at this point. WWE doesn't start these things typically till January so it's nice that they have started a program with Henry already. I'm ok with a slow build till Royal Rumble time, but they need to step it up leading up to and after the Rumble.

"Fuck the watered down rap, we be takin' it back"
-John Cena

Its better than appealing to all the little jimmys out there. At least he had a gimmick instead of being super bland super boring Cena - Hell Orton has more personality than Cena.

Regarding Cena Snr. no wonder that Cena was made top face of company and Vince not wanting to shit all over Cena Snr. New England wrestling company, made it all possible.

If they make Cena rap again, it would be super bland boring Cena with raps. They would have to have a heel turn on the scale of when Hulk Hogan joined the nWo to successfully turn Cena heel. Cena would have to turn his back on everything he stood for, while at the same time not appealing or pandering to the Cena Sucks crowd.

big fish, small pond vs small fish, big pond I guess. I can see how he would like the indies a bit more. People knew who he was back there.

I am sure Bryan will be happier once he starts gaining some kind of fan base out side of people that know what Ring of Honor is.

Dude is already guaranteed ether to win the title when the champ gets hurt or as very least he will be in one of the biggest matches of the biggest PPV in wrestling.

I think the dude is doing ok for himself in WWE. He just hasn't been involved in any angles that make people care about him. Hopefully cashing in MITB will be that.

There's a pretty huge gap between "lower mid card jobber" and "main event of Wrestlmania".

They booked him terribly after his MITB win, they ought to have been gradually building him up in the eyes of the audience. It's not hard or time consuming, just have regular matches on SD and a good simple feud or two, then start ramping it up big time in late 2011, early 2012

I remember seeing a video back in 2007 or so of Vince actually showing up to an indy show Cena Sr. promoted. Vince attacked Cena Sr. and Cena Jr. came out and FU'ed him.

Seeing Vince on an indy show in front of about 300 people was weird. There's a video of it on YouTube, but it looks like total crap and you can't see anything.

Just look at CM Punk, you might have said the same thing about him a couple of years ago, better off in the indies, etc. Now he's set for life, and has a large, loyal WWE fanbase.

Yes, the product is weak. News at eleven etc. I'm at the point where I just roll with it. I'm not going to bother questioning WWE's actions any longer. There is no point.
Pretty much, I don't care, I just watch now for the lulz and the ughs.

I'm not sure Ill get used to this twitter crap

No. You are supposed to be angry. Youa re supposed to wish that Wwe calls you and asks you who you like so that they can cater to your wishes.

So, what was worst: muppets raw or raw gets rawked?

The one with the rock. I got some actual laughs with the muppets, and santino was entertaining for once. The rock was just saying the same rock shit the rock has been saying since before wrestlemania.

Yeah. So, that Cena segment was meant to make people hate Cena more, right?

How can the guy gain a following when your main pbp guy is talking shit about him during his matches and not putting him over? Striker and Matthews did more to get him over during that Superstars match with Regal than Cole has ever done.

...I don't know what the hell that was supposed to represent. I don't think anyone involved wanted to be there. Maybe vince was pranking cena on live television.

Austin's heel turn was a massive disaster. A huge part of the audience tuned out and never came back.

I have this feeling about how this angle's going to turn out. I'm going to yell "I FUCKING CALLED IT!" from the rooftops if it does go down like this.

  1. Henry narrowly defeats The Big Show at Survivor Series after taking a beating. He's struggling to get to his feet when Ride of the Valkyries hits. Bryan runs out and cashes in. For a moment, it looks like he might just take the monster down. However, it's just not to be. Bryan's not good enough and Henry takes him out with the World's Strongest Slam.
  2. Cue WrassleGAF burying the angle; "I knew Bryan would be the first to not win the title!", "Vince hates everyone that he didn't make!", "What are you guys so mad about? Bryan's pretty boring anyway. He'll be future endeavoured soon", etc. etc.
  3. Cue the WWE burying Bryan. Cole points out that not only is he a nerd but also a hypocrite. Maybe Bryan wins a few matches, maybe he doesn't - it's all fairly inconsequential.
  4. D. Brine, with a fire lit up under him, wins the Rumble. The WrestleMania match is back on!
  5. You really don't see where I'm going with this?

You know, after I watched RAW last night I think The Rock missed his true calling. It's not professional wrestler or actor. It was as a corporate motivational speaker. Seriously, the guy can spit out the same tired catch phrases and one liners like it was the first time he ever said it. And when he ads something new to his act like Twittertainmaint or whatever that was last night he says it like he's been saying it all these years with his other phrases. He could go around to corporations, have special motivational meetings and put boots to asses everywhere.

Santino is always entertaining more so when he has a straight guy like kosolov to play off one. One of the rules:

  • Del & Rodney
  • The Two Ronnies
  • Etc.

That's a serious problem Cole creates for most of the roster, to be honest.

Is Vince feeding Cole the lines? Or is Cole just an asshole who can say what he likes as long as he plugs twitter? He's the "heel" commentator, but most of the time he's just burying everyone, including the heels. Shit makes no sense.

Yous guyz are thinking too hard and deeply about Daniel Bryan. He's not catching on because the audience is smart enough to see him as Superstarz level talent and no amount of clever booking or commentator cheerleading will fix that until he finds a way to connect with the Universe.

See: the blue chipper rocky maivia

I won't stand for this. I won't goddamn well stand for it! Superstars is spelled with an 's' at the end.

So he needs his Austin 3:16 moment then? I thought he had it with his Bryan Danielson promo in the NXT run but nobody watches NXT so that didn't happen.
