It seems the only 70mm IMAX theater in Vegas converted to Digital earlier this year.................

you now realise batman takes the time to put mascara on every time he suits up.

Am I alone here in thinking that "The Dark Knight Rises" is a very mediocore title?

They couldn't use/come up with ANYTHING better? I dunno, just like the idea of each film having it's own unique name to make it stand out. This one just sounds like a placeholder or some sort of odd direct sequel to TDR (which is obviously isn't), with an eventual 3rd title still on way or something.

Well I agree, but to be honest, I don't think 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight' were all that complex titles to begin with, although I like them.

rising is apparently important IE well, jesus, etc

The only reason i can think of is marketing. Keep the same name as the movie that had the joker and made over a billion$.

But yeah i agree the name sounds sounds weird.

Damn...it has almost been 7 years since Batman Begins came out. Can't believe how fast time is flying by.

Yeah it doesn't feel like it either. I think because where in the 2000's. Batman begins seriously feels like it came out a couple years ago. But that was TDK! =0

Also when we have something to remember from a set time, time always feels like its flying.

Just imagine how they're gonna have to title them for the franchise that needs to differentiate itself from the 3 other incarnations of Batman.

I am not defending the title as it took me a while to get used to it too...I was expecting something completely different.

But I do not think for a second it was because of pressure from WB to include DARK KNIGHT in the title for marketing/money purposes. If that was true they would have forced "BATMAN" into the title of the Dark Knight. In fact a lot of people didn't even know Batman Begins was the first movie and that the Dark Knight was the sequel. If WB was that worried about marketing they would have forced Nolan to re-name The Dark Knight into something like Batman Begins 2 since they would want whatever momentum they gained with that movie to carry over into the sequel(s).

Furthermore at this point Nolan has made them so much bank with the Batman movies and Inception that he really has free reign. He doesn't go over budget, brought back Batman from the dead, and in return they have let him do whatever he wants. The title is Nolan's and just like Batman Begins and the Dark Knight, its called what its called because it will link directly to the story/theme of the movie.

Now there is a thought to think about. It is a theme Nolan has played in Dark Knight but that the idea of 'the batman' is enough to give hope even if he is no longer present.

I'm sure that batman will die by the end.

Dude won an Oscar in between TDK and TDKR. He'll do just fine.

Considering his filmography. I'd say that's well deserved. Going from the machinist to Batman Begins is a hell of a job.

I make a habit of trying not to read too far into the idea of Nolan's "prestige trilogy", which I hear of all over the place. The idea of the pledge, the turn, and the prestige isn't a uniquely Nolan idea...it's just a general structure that a lot of stories follow.

Disregarding that however, my good friend and I, who talk about this way too much, basically came to the same conclusions as the author of that article. If you're looking for a real hint at the ending, I'm fairly certain John Blake is the key. Plus, it goes without saying that the ending itself will essentially be the title of the film. So in other words...yah, I'm fairly certain this guy's on to something.

Then again, has Nolan ever really produced an ending that someone managed to figured out months before release? I'm not sure, but I haven't. So I'm not betting too much on anything yet. I still feel like we know next to nothing about the movie...despite an overload of set pictures.

I sure hope we know next to nothing. Going into TDK I had seen the Bank heist, the trailers, and followed the thread for it on GAF for well over a year. In my head I had constructed the whole story, even though I avoided spoilers, and the movie still was completely different then what I thought it would be.

Of course they won't release the prologue online. There is no reason to. They didn't with the one attached to I Am Legend. It only came out online before because it was attached to a DVD/Blu-ray release.

Yeah, why you would choose to let people only see it through shitty bootlegs? Even if you're someone who would be crazy enough to go see MI just for it, the dumb idea of only putting it with some imaxes makes it impossible for many.

I don't get this strategy. I understand wanting to show off the prologue in as best quality as possible, but most of these 70mm screens are in places like museums that aren't going to carry Ghost Protocol. Why opt for something that as few people as possible are ever going to see?

Every single person that is complaining about not being able to see it is buying a ticket for opening day anyway. There is no incentive for Warner Bros. to release it online. They'll obviously release the trailer, but no need for the prologue to be online.

But my point wasn't about them not releasing it online, but that a lot of the theaters they're targeting are places that won't be carrying the movie this thing is attached to.

Im fine with that. What i do not get is the very limited amount of screens this will be on. 2/9 IMAX screens in my state will have it, and they both are around Detroit. So unless you want to drive to Detroit/Dearborn, you cannot see the prologue. It is just annoying.

They waited for BB on blu before releasing the prologue, i'm imagining some deluxe TDK edition comes out pre TDKR that'll have it plus some of the unreleased Heath Joker scenes that we know were filmed (after the party and in the cop car after the truck flip)

I think the prologue for TDK was a genuine attempt to get people excited for seeing it in theatres since BB didn't do that well in theatres but amazing on DVD. They seem to following tradition with this move, but its less necessary.

hahah
looks like I am not going to be watching MI:4 for the prologue after all. i can be just as much of a dick WB.

Promoting your movie seems like a reasonable purpose?

Yeah people might forget that back when the TDK bank scene was released it was only the IMAX showings of I Am Legend and they didn't properly release it online. All we had were shitty bootlegs. It was only attached to the blu ray of BB.

They will do the same here. Sucks but thank god I live in NYC which has the biggest IMAX screen in the country and will be showing the prologue before MI4.

The first full trailer will be attached to both MI4 and Sherlock Holmes 2. Both movies are going to be huge especially around the holidays. Pretty sure that is a lot of marketing for the movie. Then there will be the second full trailer. Besides this is what they did with the TDK.

Not that I don't wish they would release it online.

I think the trailer is only being attached to Sherlock.

Really? Even still it will be eventually be attached to more movies.

Not worried about the marketing for this, by the time its about to be released it will be everywhere.

Is there some super deluxe edition TDK about to be released?
