College Football Week 14: "We've closed the gap!"

Be glad.

If he had stayed, Addazio would be our non-official head coach (or actual head coach). We would be getting excellent two star recruits out of New England. We would still be playing statistics (dive play every other play). We would still have a whole bunch of transfers every season. We would still be beating FSU in players arrested.

Now, if he gets an OC who isn't a yes-man, they have a chance. Otherwise, it will be a "run over the B1G patsies, lose occasionally, get blasted by the SEC or other powerful team in a BCS bowl" program.

True, tOSU will have to get rid of that offensive coordinator and get a top guy in there if Meyer will have success there. He's not a playcaller.

Well, CFB-GAF, I won't be posting much anymore. I mean, not like I posted much in the first place. But I'll be accepting a new job here in 2 weeks, and I doubt I'll be able to post on GAF while at work anymore.

But my cell contract is up for renewal in Dec., and I might (finally) get one of those fancy schmancy iphones that are all the rage with the kiddos these days. So I might be posting on GAF even more...maybe.

OT: Anyone here ever submitted a letter of resignation before? How did it go? I have to submit one today and I have to say, I'm kind nervous about it. I've been with my current engineering firm for 7yrs, but a great opportunity came up and I'm taking it. My boss isn't going to be happy. :lol

Looks like tOSU gets the last laugh over FLOLrida after all! How's it feel to be a stepping stone mang? U not mad r u?

Enjoy it while you can, B1G. Tressel was kind with the ass beatings he regularly dealt. Urban will not be so gentle.

Stepping stone? You need to get out more.

Is it just about the money or is there no room for advancement at your current firm?

Cracked me up when I saw this on twitter on Sat. night.

Rumors around UF is that some coaches are heading to OSU with Meyer. Supposedly Durkin, Marotti and White are leaving. White is highly regarded as a recruiter so that would hurt. Meyer can have the others.

Criminoles indeed lol

Urban Mayor to xXOhiO StateXx? Why is that school not facing 1 or 2 seasons of bowl penalties yet? Great hire none the less.

I don't think any job could be more high pressure than Tennessee right now, given the expectations of the money men there.

The expectations aren't even really that high. This season was 7-5 pre injuries and 6-6 post injuries and Dooley couldn't even manage that.

To Joe Fan? I'm sure an 8-4 or 9-3 season next year would be peachy... but to the big money donors? They'd take that 8-4/9-3 season next year but they will point to Chizik at Auburn and want to see the Vols competing for championships no later than year 3.

I also just left an engineering company I had been with for eight years. I dragged my boss into a conference room to give him the news. Told him I didn't want to go, but the position I took was a higher level and lots more cash. He was disappointed, but said he would've done the same thing. Don't just tell him in a letter, IMO.

My letter was something like:

Hi <boss>,

While I have enjoyed working here for the past eight years, an opportunity has come up that is just too good to pass up. My last day will be <three weeks from now> and I will have all my work wrapped up or passed on by then.

<me>

That was just for HR's benefit because I had already quit in person. Best way because it leaves doors open for the return.

They're Ohio State. The NCAA loves them. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't get hit with anything. Hell, the NCAA might just award them the national championship that USC vacated for "handling it so well."

To everyone. But next year because of what happened this year 8-4 with a win against Florida or Bama will be mandatory. I think most accept that our situation is a whole hell of a lot different than Auburns or any other coach that came in and won big in 2-3 years.

White will hurt, but not as bad as losing Strong did. The hardcore recruiting followers think Muschamp's ability in recruiting will gloss over that and replace him without too much trouble. Durkin can fuck right off, he has sucked under two administrations now. I guess he's a good recruiter, but he blows at special teams. Mariotti whipped a bunch of people into shape early on, but has slacked off or something the past few years. I don't know if that's Mariotti or the quality of the player though. His workouts are legendary, so I just don't know.

Let's beat Wisconsin again and get our second consecutive B1G title. Go Green!

Congrats on the ridiculously lopsided win! I think Franklin will be around for a while.
Unless he uses Vandy as a stepping stone. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave in a couple years if he's fairly successful and gets an offer somewhere else.

Seriously though... no Ryan Broyles. Maybe no Jaz Reynolds. Shitfest defense. Ravenous stoolwater crowd two years in a row... I have a nauseous feeling the pokes are going to beat the fucking crimson off us. But I'll never pick those dirty scumbags.

Is it just about the money or is there no room for advancement at your current firm?

Both.
I've reached my ceiling at my current firm. The owners just seem content with everything (including employees) staying the same. My new company is expanding (which is why I got hired) and will pay for certifications. Much higher ceiling and salary opportunities there. Plus, I'm just ready for something new. My current/old boss has gotten way too fucking comfortable and has become a lazy twat. The dude works maybe, MAYBE, 30hrs a week. :|

What's going on here? Is he Tebowing with scissors? I'm confused.

Sod Cemetery. It's an FSU tradition where a team captain (typically a Sr.) will cut some sod from the opposing team's field when FSU wins a big road game, and bury the sod (with headstone) at the Sod Cemetery back in Tallahassee. What you see in the pic is Sr. Punter Shawn Powell trying to cut sod at the UF "F" in the middle of the field, only to get stopped by UF guards, and having to cut sod at one of the endzones.

Now, I wouldn't necessarily consider dominating a 6-6 UF team at The Swamp a big victory worthy of Sod Cemetery, but then again, FSU hasn't won there in 8yrs. And FSU got embarrassed in g-ville during that stretch, too. So whatever...it was a big win for the FSU seniors.

LOL that would just make Michigan fans fume. They already hate them for taking Prior and other things. But they beat them this year so everything is good right now.

This is weird, how have I never heard of this lol.

Our Top RB recruit is saying he doesnt want to play in the spread and is waiting to talk to Urban. :/

"Trent Richardson, I swear to you that we're going to switch to more of a power-running game." ====> "INSERT STUD RUNNING BACK, I swear to you that we're going to switch to more of a power-running game."

Our Top RB recruit is saying he doesnt want to play in the spread and is waiting to talk to Urban. :/

Get used to that, Urbz is going to have to bring in smaller, faster guys. It's going to be a different type of football at tOSU if he's to have any success there.

tOSU will announced Urban details at 11.

I for one welcome our new coaching overlord. I always thought Meyer was a pompous ass but his track record speaks for itself. 2 BCS titles, undefeated in BCS games, big time recruiter. But with a $40 million deal, needless to say my expectations (along with the rest of Buckeye nation) are going to be extremely high and he will need to get results right from the beginning.

The single biggest key to the game: OU's pass rush.

If they can get pressure on Weeden, it will be a close game. If they don't, we'll light your secondary the fuck up.

Also, if we can defend the run even decently well, we should be able to stop OU. Keeping you out of 3rd or 4th and short (and keeping Bell off the field) will be huge.

Expecting to see a strong and focused effort after the Abortion in Ames™.

Our Top RB recruit is saying he doesnt want to play in the spread and is waiting to talk to Urban. :/

Yeah, Bri'onte Dunn.

Michigan has been going after him pretty hard and he has visited Ann Arbor the past two weekends. We actually flipped another buckeye commitment earlier in the year and he is close friends with Dunn. On top of that Dunn's cousin, Dymonte Thomas, a 2013 player has already committed to Michigan. Coaches and family have said nothing but good things about Michigan. Now you've got Urban who is undoubtedly going to run the spread. After all that, it still seems like his heart is with ohio state.

Another fun fact (because I'm justified in my Urban bashing now, but when I first said this I was pilloried):

With Dan Mullen, Tebow, and Harvin, the UF offense was the 8th ranked (I think) offense in the NCAA in 2008. The next year, we lose Mullen and Harvin (but gain Addazio) and our offense drops to 93rd. Still with Tebow and a lot of the great receivers. Harvin wasn't the cause of that steep of a drop, although it would have dropped anyway. With Addazio in charge, we were beating terrible teams by a touchdown or less. Part of Meyer's "Plan to Win". So if you hear that phrase, be afraid.

There has been talks about Kalis flipping back to tOSU if Urban came, have to see what happens now.

Also Urban is meeting with Fickell now about keeping him on the staff.

And the SEC championship might as well be @Georgia, just like the MNC might as well be @LSU.

I love Colins rant a minute ago on Notre Dame hoping for the Urban hire. Like they get better, and better, and better, and ah ha, we are just about there so Urban can look at us and we're ND after all but PSYKE, says Urban!

Was trying to figure out why Bedlam was this weekend and when the Big 12 championship game was. Then it hit me and I laughed for a good 20 minutes.

You know, I'd take that Erickson guy from ASU. Maybe we could move Cutcliffe to director of football relations or something, he's a great carnival barker. If he could get rid of Kurt Roper and whoever our QB coach is, we could be in business.

In some ways, the Duke job is one of the easiest in college. Cutcliffe gets paid 1.5 million a year to not go winless, all we want is someone who can win 5-7 games a year and take us to the mighty Beef O'Brady's bowl or something like that once a class. Maybe beat Wake and UNC and not lose to FCS schools. Thats it, thats all you have to do. We don't want National Championships, we don't even care about ACC championships, just competence. Football competence. Is there not someone who can do that?

Maybe I'm missing something but from the stats I found Florida was #6 in the nation in yards per game that year.

2009 Total Offense

Regardless as a Buckeye fan anything is better than what we witnessed from an offensive standpoint this year.

I already typed out a resgination letter, but I'm going to submit it when I have a sit down convo with my boss later today. (The guy was here for maybe an hour this morning, then left for a "meeting" that nobody knew about) So yeah, the letter is mainly for HR, but also to make my resignation official. I don't want to burn any bridges.

Yeah, I use chokler's site on my iPad most of the time. I'm leaning towards iphones for the wife & I since we already have an iPad and for the cross-functionality & all that jazz. Just need to make sure I want to pay the data plan prices....ugh
