Xenoblade coming to the U.S. via Gamestop Exclusive (also avail on Nintendo.com)

Great news! Totally unexpected to see this this morning.

I'd be happy with Xenoblade only, but I kind of hope Last Story also comes over. It can still happen since NoA has to some how fill in the gap between Xenoblade and when the Wii-U comes out. If all the voices/localization is done, than it should be a no-brainer and a minimal effort on NoA's part, right?

But will you get the CC Pro in red?

Where can I buy this!?

what is the word on pre-ordering this? when can I give them my money!

Gamestop's already taking pre-orders. Haven't checked with Nintendo. I bet this is like Yakuza 2 where they only get one shipment through Gamestop then you have to go through Nintendo after it's out.

I'm planning to stop by a GameStop sometime this weekend to do my duty, but I'm somewhat weary that Nintendo might end up doing something a little interesting for people pre-ordering from their website (is this the first time they're doing this?).
Nintendo has previously offered Pokemon Box exclusive through their website, and Electroplankton through the Canadian site.

That was a long time ago, but it was fairly unceremonious.. Just like any other accessory they sell.

If anyone gets anything interesting, I'd expect it to be at GameStop, with that "exclusive" notation. But then again, that interesting thing is probably the game itself, no perks :P

Too little too late, Nintendo of America. I already bought the EU version months ago and now this. If you release Pandora's Tower and Last Story to North America, than all is forgiven, if not a BIG **CK You, Reggie and NOA for not release this months ago.

Shit, if you assume all of the upcoming RPGs for 2012 are launched in the first six months, Xenoblade is actually entering a quite crowded battleground.

- Final Fantasy XIII-2
- Mass Effect 3
- Tales of Graces F
- Tales of the Abyss
- Ni No Kuni
- Xenoblade Chronicles
- The Last Story (I think this was rumored to launch in February for Europe)
- Final Fantasy Type-0
- Monster Hunter Tri G
- Pandora's Tower

Maybe that promotion is to help make it stand out compared to the more known franchises that may launch within that window.

Xenoblade is coming mostly at the tail end of that rush. Last Story and Pandora's Tower won't have that big of an impact since it's restricted only to Europe and it's no secret that Xenoblade is a far superior game to both of them, so their hype trains will be moderate at best. Tales of Graces F will probably be released along side of XIII-2 since Namco will always be Namco
and it, and Tales of the Abyss 3DS will probably bomb spectacularly due to non-existant marketing
, Mass Effect 3's fate is sealed, for better or for worse, and XIII-2 will sell because its Final Fantasy (with quality that will really come down to a 50/50 shot at this point).

I'm trying to recall how Electroplankton was sold. I think it was GameStop online-only and Nintendo Store, but it might not have been a preorder situation.

I'm almost certain Electroplankton was not sold new at GameStop. I think I got my copy from the Nintendo Store online.

You guys got any dolphin pics to share? I know there are some in the Dolphin thread, but it's huge and loads like a snail for obvious reasons.

Now that I think about it... I think I got this reversed.

Electroplankton was sold online at Nintendo.com and .ca, but it was sold in Gamestop Canada stores, and not American ones.

It's just the EU trailer with the ESRB at the start. :P

As some have said, it contains massive spoilers for the whole game. Watch with discretion.

I didn't hear any accents or see any weird misspellings (armour, colour, etc.) either.

They should just release the PAL translation in Canada.... that's how we're supposed to spell things here :P

The VA is the same. There's not a lot of heavy accents in the game, so it's not like Dragon Quest VIII when it comes to British sounding characters. :P

I thought the way the game was voiced gave the game a noble feeling. It fits very well with the scope of the game, too.

Outside of Riki. I fucking hate Riki.

Hopefully the JP voice option is still there, so I can listen to Norio.

And yeah, that trailer is the same. And I saw "defence" and "armour" as well. Same VAs too, for sure.

I could see them editing those in the months to come. Not that they even need to. I might be biased because I'm Canadian, living in a land where both British and American spelling is common, but I don't even notice the different spellings. It's a non-issue.

Need a region-free app, from my experience CFG actually worked better than Gecko, but Gecko is significantly easier to get running. Just download it and put it in the apps folder on your SD card.

I'd love the soundtrack (it's huge though, 4 discs?) but that artbook would be the best thing they could give us. I'm not expecting anything though, just the game.

Probably your best bet since FE11 bombed. Already imported my copy.

Thanks Captain Quail Man.

I might add that April seems so far away. :(
It's sooner than never. <3

Dragon Quest has used British spelling since VIII and NoA has published the last few of those, so it's not that farfetched.

I'm going to buy this, even if I don't reallyl ike RPGs. Because its Xenoblade.
I don't know if I'll even begin to understand how to play it but I don't care.

Right. It's not an issue from a readability standpoint... These are RPGs in fantasy worlds. If you see words like "Majick" and "Fayth" you probably won't have a hard time figuring out how they read.

Or might I add.... "L'cie" :P

Because this is such a niche release, small numbers, not going to the Wal-mart crowd anyway, I could easily see them just taking the PAL disc, switching the flag on the video settings, and calling it a day...

It's this sentiment that will assuredly convince Nintendo NOT to release those other titles--after all, why release more when nobody bought the first one?

I'm curious to see what it's like to order a game from Nintendo.com. Anyone done it before?

I got the NP deals (Game+Player's Guide+Memory Card+NP subscribtion+Wavebird coupons+etc.) years ago through the Nintendo.com store, they're alright. Aside from occasional offers, nothing specal.

I wish they'd do more of those now.

Woah, NoA is really reworking this title, just look at the new logo!

I actually like the top one better, although not sure which one you're referring to as being from NoA.

That's probably not far off from what they're doing, although I suppose they'll remove the hooks to the Spanish/French/Italian translations.

Makes you wonder why they're waiting til April then.

Maybe, but with Quebec, Mexico, and a general large Spanish-speaking population in the US, perhaps you'd just leave em in?

It's great that it's coming out, especially for younger gamers that wouldn't have modded their Wii's but that can now stumble across the title, but in general it's too late. The fanbase bought it from NoE.

Great news, even though I imported it over the summer and put 130 hours into it. I'll most likely double dip in hopes of Last Story and Pandora's Tower maybe making it over!
