finally! what took them so long?! but it sucks, looks like I won't be able to get it, why is it Gamestop and Nintendo Store exclusive?!

Do want, but i'm hesitant because of the Xeno in the title. This game has nothing to do with Xenogears and Xenosaga right?
Nothing at all.

I was going to stay away from it for the same reason, but apparently the "xeno" title was added just as an homage, it has nothing to do with Xenogears or Xenosaga.

No not at all. No story relation. No gameplay relation.

In fact the Xeno series is traditionally the most anime, pretensious storytelling out there... but Xenoblade is very down to earth in many ways. Also not cutscene heavy. Very un-Xeno.

Xenoblade sounds so much cooler than Monado though. So glad they kept the title.

The original title was Monado.. Xenoblade was the changed name.

Amazon.com's listing of "Monado" was likely, in the end, just a very, very old listing that was never killed. :P

I'm sure no one was ever considering the Monado name in the US.

The Nintendo.ca store seems to have the same listing for the game that the US store does. Pre-orders begin December 19.

No word on Canadian Gamestop/EB Games, though.

I'm disappointed that Nintendo dragged their feet for so long. But I'm happy that this is happening and I'll begrudgingly pick up another copy. (I imported)

Me too. I really think it would have been smarter of them to give a solid confirmation around the time the OpRainfall campaign was in full swing. They lost some domestic sales, no doubt.

I already played it courtesy of NoE but it's good that the game will be officially available in the US.
I guess releasing Xenoblade won't drive NOA bankrupt after all contrary to all the rationalizing in support of the original bs decision.
There are ways to make these releases happen if you give a shit...ask Xseed etc.

Might have been speculated already in this thread, but any chance of a cautious production run on this, causing it to become rare in the future? I'm considering ordering it just because of that >.> (played JP version last year)

Well, it will only be available at Gamestop if you're not ordering online, so production will be limited in some regard.

That's why I loved the Xeno series, cutscene heavy and its pretentious storytelling.

Nice!

So what about all those people who said it was ok to pirate it since it wasn't coming to NA?
Hmm maybe that wasn't here?

Oh wow. I guess Skyward Sword won't be the last Wii game I buy after all.

I've had SS since launch and still haven't played it.

Play it again with superior British voices.

I'd rebuy this game just for American accents.

Actually... at this point, if it had a new American cast, I'd be pissed. Not only am I used to the PAL dub, but I think it's pretty fantastic. American gamers shouldn't miss out on it.

Yeah there are plenty of cutscenes, but they seem to be in good balance. None of this *cutscene for 10 minutes*
Yay I get to play! *Walk forward 20 feet*
*cutscene for 20 minutes*

uggggh

Good mix of cutscenes and romping around without distractions

Also the game pretty much tells you when a cutscene is coming. There will be a "!" on the map. Don't wanna progress the story yet? Go around the "!" and just kill stuff for awhile!

I just realised that this might get a really bad US dub. If they do feel the need to redub it, hopefully for the US's sake they'll do a decent job with it. The british voices were really well done imo (except for the jump grunts ._. lol)

I meant, kept the JP and EU name considering it was always Monado here until now.

I see what you're saying. But really, it wasn't named anything over here. Listings for "Monado" were ancient ghost entries in databases which simply hadn't been deleted/updated for years. :P

I think it's INCREDIBLY unlikely that they'd redub for such a niche release, small print run.

Not least of all that NoA has already said it's "Based on the European release". :P

Hahahaha I see

How cutscene-heavy is Xenoblade, btw?

It's kind of like FFXII, imo, lots of cutscenes in the beginning, well spaced in the middle, lots more towards the end. While playing it doesn't "feel" like a lot because of some pretty large explorable areas with cutscenes only bookmarking them but then you go to youtube and see them strung together and it's quite a bit.

I never felt the game get too heavy with them. I remember multiple times during FFXIII and Xenosaga I would literally think "LET ME FUCKING PLAY" but never really occurred for this one.

There aren't all that many, really. There is a stretch close to the end of the game that involves a few longer ones, but I agree with the sentiment of none of it feeling overbearing.

And at the same time I did get some awesome dramatic feeling from many of the cutscenes. They're quite well directed.

There are phrases repeated over. And over. And over again that I just can't stand. "So that's the power of the Monado!" Well duh bitch, I've only been using this fucking thing for the last 90 hours! Granted, an American cast wouldn't change the frequency of the stupid sayings, it would only make it less annoying.

Another thing that gets said a lot that I find really annoying is from Fiorna, or whatever her name was.

I mean shit, one of the sayings even made it into the OT thread title. "What a bunch of jokahs!"

Eh, comes with the territory of JRPGS!

MARCHING BOOTS! DANCING RHAPSODY! GRIN VALESTI CAN YOU HEAL US!
GET BACK! POWER! GET BACK!
SIDE KICK DIMENSION DOOR SIDE KICK DIMENSION DOOR

That... doesn't really follow. I'd be just as pissed with some Troy Baker bro-ey comments repeated over and over again.

If I have to hear sayings repeated, I'm fine with having them be charming and English.

The game was first announced at an E3 some years ago, where it was indeed called Monado, which made it official.
