So now that I have a Kindle Fire, I have got a bit more into comics than I have in the past due to Comixology. Is it normal for the prices in the app to be more expensive than what they have on their website? It isn't a big deal to just buy it there, but it seems sort of stupid if for example that Justice League #3 is $4 in-app, but only $3 on their website (not actually sure if this exact example is accurate). I guess it is to make up for any fees they have to pay to Amazon or Apple, but annoying none the less.

Justice League is a 4 dollar comic, and so is Action Comics.

Everything else should be 3 bucks. Is this the case for the rest of the comics on the app?

Yeah, my example was slightly off. I meant Justice League #2. In the Kindle Fire app, the second issue is still $4, but if you go on their website it is only $3 (#3 is still $4, even on their website).

UPDATE: Hey guys, I asked for comic book recommendations earlier in this thread. I ended up getting Batman Noel and he was really excited about the gift and couldn't wait to read it.

His gf mouthed to me while he was opening it, "I already bought that for him!"

Loloolol, but she didn't open it from the shipping package, so she's planning on returning it and getting him a different one.

Thanks again for the recommendations Comics-GAF.

Weird. It's down to $3 on ComiXology for iPad. Must be a screw up in the database?

I want to say I have seen the same issue with Batman as well. I also don't think the sales on the website show up in the app (Such as Ultimate Spiderman last Monday). I wonder if they have to update the prices within the app separately instead of them just pulling from a common site. So thus, the price changes tend to be off or just really delayed.

Any fans of The Boys here? My LCS guy recommended it after finding that Preacher was the comic that brought me into the medium years ago. Having finished the first trade, that need for more Preacher back in the day is the only thing that matches my desire to run out and devour this entire series right now. I was never interested in Punisher stuff regardless of quality and Jennifer Blood, while fun, is never the first thing I wanna read on the day it arrives. It was starting to seem like Ennis might've been a one hit wonder for me. Wrong!

<3 <3 <3 The Frenchman <3 <3 <3

And I cannot wait to see what The Female is all about.

The serialized nature of comics is endearing, but wow, is it fantastic to discover a hunger for a book that you can instantly satiate once in a while.

Action Comics seems screwed up too, #3 is $1.99 and #2 is 2.99. This is on ComiXology iPad app, seems backwards.

Well, Dark Horse is now doing day and date digital and their comics will be cheaper in digital format. Only makes sense, really

Man the first week of the month is always a big DC week for me. Can anyone tell me something about the Fourth World Kirby stuff? I am not familiar with it at all.

For everyone who's been waiting for a Phoenix-centric crossover event, Marvel will be announcing "It's Coming" details this Wednesday at 3 PM EST.

DH was supposed to issue a "clarification" on this sometime today, though it seems to be taking them a while (the update in that link was posted this morning). Hopefully, that doesn't mean what it sounds like.

When Jack Kirby came to DC in the early 70s he created four books- The Forever People, Mister Miracle, and New Gods- and took over Superman's Friend Jimmy Olsen. In those four books he basically set up a new universe and told the story of two planets, New Genesis and Apokolips. Apokolips was lead by Darkseid and he was at war against Orion, his son that had been raised on New Genesis. All four books told a piece of the story and it was in a way the first crossover (except not nearly as confusing). All the books eventually got cancelled due to low sales but they're still pretty fondly remembered for their contribution to the DC universe.

Penguin: Pride and Prejudice! Might pick up the TMNT micro series. I think I'm giving Action Comics a rest for a while.

Edit: Pain and Prejudice. Penguin: Pride and Prejudice would be weird.

The Boys is pretty good, but there are issues where Richardson isn't the main artist on.

LOL... Just announced: Tom Defalco is taking over writing chores on 'Legion Lost' starting with #7. The DCnU really is Marvel circa 1990s.

Maybe he can take over Blackhawks next.

This is what happen when you put Bob Harras and Bobbie Chase in charge, folks. Legion Lost hasn't been particularly good, so I wouldn't mind a new writer, but DeFalco's style of dialogue should be sent back to 1987 where it belongs.

AUG110250 JACK KIRBYS FOURTH WORLD OMNIBUS TP VOL 01 $39.99

I'm glad these are getting trades now because the hardcover prices are outrageous :(

Having just read that Kamandi volume, I'm psyched to read more of Jack Kirby's work. I'll be picking this one up.

Also getting Batman: No Man's Land: Vol 1 for this week. That covers my DC stuff.

Spoiler for Ultimates 4:
What was the last time Reed Richards appeared in an ultimate comic?

Only comic that matters this week, best new series of 2011:

OCT110572

The acclaimed new series continues as Luther decides to take advantage of his new talents and become a hero. He's got the powers, he's got the costume, but is it enough? Meanwhile the Librarian is tightening the noose around Luther's life as the body count begins to pile up.

Just stumbled upon this today, and I need to place an order for it!

In 52 BCE, General Caius Rodius, retired hero of Caesar's Legions, is called back to war. In nearby Gaul, Rome's combined armies lay siege to the Gallic stronghold of Alesia in a conflict fated to shape history. A third barbarian horde prepares to attack the Romans from without, led by the rebel Cammius, who once fought for Rome. Rising star Julius Caesar dispatches Rodius to track through the wilderness and bring back the rebel's head. Who better to hunt Cammius than the man who taught him the very skills he now uses to defy Rome? Rodius must choose between duty to Rome and Caesar or the barbarian he raised as his own son.

Story by international comics legend TITO FARACI (Diabolik, Spider-Man: The Secret of Glass, Daredevil and Captain America), art by award winning, multiple Eisner nominee DAN BRERETON (NOCTURNALS, Punisher, Marvel Ultimate Team,-Up, God-Sized Thor, Red Sonja).

I just wish DC would collect and reprint the isolated series.

The Fourth World Omnibus collects the series in a reading order through the titles he was producing for DC.

Oh well. I'll just get New Gods in singles over time.

I'm also not impressed with the pricing on the bloody collection either. You can get the hardcovers if you so choose off Amazon for a few bucks more than the paperback. Really?

That said, New Gods is f*cking amazing and reading it just makes that Final Crisis bullsh*t even more of an affront.

IIRC they collected the originals individually in trade in the late 90s. New Gods have been reprinted more than that. New Gods is definitely the strongest of the four books.

I agree that the price isn't great, but the hardcovers are OOP and resellers are starting to charge an arm and a leg for them.

Don't normally pick collected stuff as comic of the week, but X-Force/Statix is probably my favorite series that Marvel has ever done, if not my favorite comic series ever. So I recommend everyone check it out...maybe not with a $125 omnibus but in some manner!

So other than that Omnibus, I'm getting X-Factor and Static Shock.

Spoiler for Ultimates 4:
What was the last time Reed Richards appeared in an ultimate comic?

Arguably, he's been in all of them since the City started? It wasn't a secret to the readers that Reed was still alive at the end of Ultimate Doom, nor was it a secret that he started the FF.

That No Man's Land vol.1 compilation is so mine if there's stock by January, since I can't buy it right now. Glad to get the opportunity for a "complete" series for one of my favorites arcs.

(Spoilers for NML's ending)

"I've got you. I've got you" :<

So is this something just for the fans or would I also enjoy this? It does sound interesting.

Also, list time!

Actually a big week for both comic book houses now that I look at it.

Damn fifth week has me jonesing for my Animal Man and Swamp Thing fixes so hard. These are the only things that matter. Why the shit isn't it Wednesday yet??

So now that I have a Kindle Fire, I have got a bit more into comics than I have in the past due to Comixology. Is it normal for the prices in the app to be more expensive than what they have on their website? I guess it is to make up for any fees they have to pay to Amazon or Apple, but annoying none the less.

I've noticed that on the Android DC Comics App (which is basically a comixology storefront), their new releases are sometimes $1 more. If you are looking through a DC app, try checking a Comixology one (if there is one available on the Fire) to see if the price is "correct" there. If not, buy on the website then sync it on your Fire.

Yeah, I have been using the Comixology one and not the DC specific app. I think it is just something with the Android app, because I downloaded the iPhone version to test it there and I didn't notice the differences. I have just been buying on their website and syncing later as you suggested.

I was actually very confused by the way that was treated as a big reveal. As far as I remember the start of the arc pretty clearly showed this person being the one who kicked things off.

Yeah, I think it was in Ultimate Fallout. I can't remember for sure but I know I wasn't surprised.

Hell yes, Bendis is off of the Avengers next year
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=35772
And not only will 2012 will be a particularly big year for Marvel's top-billed super team, it will also mark Bendis' last year working on the Avengers titles. The writer began crafting the adventures of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in 2004, and after eight years, he's finally ready to bring his run to an end.

"I'm going to wrap up 'Avengers' and 'New Avengers.' At the same time the first storyline of 'Avengers Assemble' will be done," Bendis told CBR. "It's a good time to move on to other things. Before I go, though, I'm ending things big. I'm in countdown mode. You know when you're watching a show like 'Breaking Bad,' and every episode feels like the second to last episode? That's where I'm at. I've been on the Avengers longer than anybody in the history of the book. When you take everything into account, I've written over 200 issues. I'm very, very proud of that, and what we have coming up this summer gives me the opportunity to go out on a high note. I know enough about showbiz to know that's a great time to go."
Thank god, besides Dark Avengers his whole run has been garbage.

You want Squirrel Girl ongoing, a new Runaways run, Aquaman to have four books; Aquaman Corps, Atlanteans New Guardians and Red Meat Atlanteans.
