I got in, and the only reason I found out was because my friend was talking about WoW and I decided to check my account.
Holy shit, best surprise of the day.
Holy shit, best surprise of the day.
And don't forget that crafted loot will probably never be as good as epic loot in Inferno!
Definitely from your end... I haven't encountered lag from day 1 beta :/Single player latency. 280ms.
I knew I wasn't going to like this approach.
My connection is perfectly fine.Definitely from your end... I haven't encountered lag from day 1 beta :/
WC: Yes. We have Normal, Nightmare, and Hell, and one thing about Hell in Diablo 2, it was more geared towards characters from, I’m gonna say, level 60-65 up to 100. Our level cap is 60, and Inferno is really geared towards max-level characters. One of the things we’ve been talking about is, we have a lot of environment art. And we feel that the most fun way to play isn’t to do the same run over and over and over and over again within the same environment, background art, whatever. So Inferno is the entire game on a much tighter level (band?? 3:30) so that you can basically do your loot farming in a wider variety of places. It’s still the same game, but everything’s designed for level 60, and the rewards are (superior) across the board.
Obviously didn't get in, I'm like 0/8 on these betas.
My inbox is full of cobwebs. I'm jealous of all you participants. I wanna get my click on. ;-;
Yeah I just checked it out, 250ms here but it doesn't lag at all... the enemy dies just fractions of a second after I hit it.
PC Gamer: Can you guys tell us a little more about the Inferno difficulty level? Is it just going to be flat-out mean to the player?

I don't know, while it will be much more diverse, yes, it also seems kinda boring if every enemy can drop almost every item (with equal chances). While boss running is dull because you are repeating the same thing over and over, it gives you a goal because you know killing it gives you a decent chance on a good drop.I have to say, I really like the sound of Inferno difficulty. One of my biggest gripes with D2 was having to run Baal and the end of Act5 over and over again. Or having to run Pindleskin a couple dozen times. Or running Andariel over and over and over again looking for that one rune that only she can drop. Having an entire difficulty that is specifically designed for maxed out characters is one of my most anticipated aspects of D3. I hope its set up so that we can pile on the magic find gear and basically just go around killing anything and everything while hunting that one piece of armor or weapon that we want, instead of having to slay one specific mob a hundred times back to back.
got into the beta today... Didnt do facebook or any competitions. Just regularly submitted my PC specs
Yeah I honestly doubt the drops are equal chances for regular mobs and bosses in inferno. Unless regular mobs are boss difficulty, or bosses are regular mob difficulty it's not going to happen.

If every mob can has an equal chance to drop items, you're just aimlessly killing them hoping for drops, it doesn't have that same incentive.
Blizzard will probably figure out what's most fun, and regardless people will discover the best/most efficient runs anyway.
Or you could have elite mobs spawn randomly in the world which have the highest drop chance. That way it wouldn't matter where or who you are fighting, because you would just be waiting for these guys to spawn. It will be awesome when they spawn, and even more awesome if they drop something cool. They could also be part of random quests/events.In my opinion, the best way to do inferno difficulty would be to have every mob in inferno have the exact same loot table, but vary the drop percentages for harder mobs, especially bosses. That way, if you are looking for a Stone of Jordan (just for example) you can decide to run whichever boss you feel like running, because every boss has the same chance to drop the exact same loot. But the trash getting to the boss can also drop that SoJ for you too, so it's not just wasted time. There wouldn't be any reason to play one particular spot over and over, you could just play wherever you feel like.
And remember, this time around we are going to have an auction house to help us get that special item. So, if that SoJ doesn't drop for you, but you instead get a Vex rune along the way, you can always sell that rune for the gold to buy the SoJ instead. Inferno runs will not only be good for loot runs to get items you want, they will be good for loot runs to sell items you find on the AH to BUY items you want. That's going to be a BIG difference between D2 and D3.
Don't feel alone. =(I am never getting into this beta am I?
IF they would have offered the Diablo 3 beta in that getting Diablo 3 free for signing up for WoW, I would have done it but I am just happy to get a chance to play it.NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
No beta here. I swear to god Blizzard only picks people that have inactive WoW accounts. It's the same fucking story for every beta, even WoW betas! The people with no active subscription get invites. Surely its some sort of marketing attempt on their part to lure people back into the fray. And likewise, it's probably a way for them to make sure their WoW subscribers continue to pay for WoW by not offering them another, free game.
ugggggh
Event system is pretty simple. The way D3 is designed you're never going to be 'aimlessly' fighting hordes of enemies. That's why they have the event system so every time you repeat an area not only is the layout potentially different but you could have completely new/unique scripted encounters with rewards for them as well.
I'm not sure anyone has a clue exactly how many of those events there are, it could be a huge part of their plan for the replayability of the game. If there are even 100 different events for every act and some are more rare than others...well why would you want to spend your time fighting a boss over and over when you could be running the whole zone and maybe get a brand new event or get a chance to repeat an old favorite.
Certainly there will be a most efficient way to acquire loot but I'd much rather be 90% as efficient and still be discovering new challenges.
Event system is pretty simple.
In Act 1 you have cellars or pits. Sometimes you can go in them. Sometimes you can't.
In Act 1 sometimes there is a tree with hanged people, sometimes there are 4 bodies and zombies are summoned.
There aren't that many and they aren't very special imo so far.
I am pretty convinced once you've seen them all it loses its luster.
Act 1 should be introducing at least 3 more quests as least, like the well quest and other stuff.
Jar of Souls is great. But it is feels too short once you get past the level it is meant for. Then you have to run through 1-3 crypts to find it, or you can get the other crappy ashes one. 50/50
I think you are giving too much credit for this aspect of the game for players who will play the game a lot. I'm sure it is a good addition for casual players and I'm not saying it is bad. It's a good thing. But it isn't super amazing which is what I got from your post.

Wasn't it you who pretty much kept bashing this game (with bullshit-arguments) non-stop for months? I remember having you on ignore for a while for that particular reasonMy friend got in, downloading right now!![]()
