You want Squirrel Girl ongoing, a new Runaways run, Aquaman to have four books; Aquaman Corps, Atlanteans New Guardians and Red Meat Atlanteans.

Please, God. If you're listening.

I still never read volume 3. I actually don't mind Terry Moore but I took one look at Humberto Ramos' "art" and couldn't bring myself to care anymore. Is there anything about it worth reading while those two were on it or after they left?

Arguably, he's been in all of them since the City started? It wasn't a secret to the readers that Reed was still alive at the end of Ultimate Doom, nor was it a secret that he started the FF.

What I was trying to ask is what's caused Reed to go evil and if there was precedent for this. The answer was in in Ultimate Doom...which I now must read.

Actually, it isn't explained there.

Reed's "descent" is not explained in one issue, it's really spread out over several years in the last FF4 issues, Ultimatum, Ultimate Fallout and Ultimate Doom being the last but not the most explanatory.

Bendis leaving Avengers is fine but man oh man would I like a status quo team for a few arcs. I want a team that goes from arc to arc to arc. We've had what, three, four arcs since the Heroic Age started? Both Secret and the main book have gained and lost members.

I have the power! I got my wish.

Fuck, what else do I want?

Wowsers! The last of the great dinosaurs shuffles off.

Any of the usual suspects to take over would be a pretty amazing development. Unless it's Loeb.

Oh...oh no. Don't be Loeb.

If Fraction, Aaron, Hickman, Remender, etc, could have their run of the whole universe the way Moz/Waid/Johns/Rucka did on DC back in the 52 days?

Goodness gracious.

I was wondering why my Comics thread subscription was so stagnant. Hadn't changed it to the December thread yet :P

That being said, Black Mirror trade is so good.

I don't know about anybody else, but I would love to see Mark Waid take over the Avengers and do a Daredevil style reboot to the series. Not in renumbering per say but in tone.

Another creative shakeup at DC: Paul Cornell is off Stormwatch as of #6. Paul Jenkins is going to fill in for two issues, while DC looks for a regular writer to take Cornell's place.

Do what books are you people picking up today? For me they are:

Defenders #1
Action Comics #4
Avenging Spider-man #2
The Strange Talent of Luther Strode #3

Neither of those are on next week's shipping list. Maybe they are the week after?

Man I usually just go by Marvel's little calendar on their site. It better not be on the 21st because I'm already getting like 20 comics that week.

I call him Black Spiderman because I don't like Ultimate name and it's easier to understand since there was other iterations. Though one Halloween I dressed up as symbiote Spidey and roamed the streets and the kids called me "That evil black spiderman."

Defenders #1 was so boss, man.

Yeah, that was a great read. But can anyone fill me in on the Silver Surfer's current status quo?
Since when the hell can he become snow?!

Avenging Spider-man #2 was great too. Live Joe Mad's art. Hopefully there are several more issues in the can do the book won't see any delays.

Both of these books are the most fun books I've read since Powergirl.

That calendar is unreliable as hell. It posts stuff that isn't out yet and omits stuff that actually gets shipped. Very annoying.

Joe Mad's last issue is 3 and then Greg Land is taking over :(

I'm gonna go ahead and say that I genuinely like Bendis on most books. The Avengers books however have been an exception. I don't actively dislike them but at the same thing they've never done much for me. His work on Ultimate Spider-Man and Powers has been consistently great although the latter hasn't had an issue in quite a while. I can totally see why a lot of people dislike his output though. I'm hoping he'll be put somewhere that fits his voice better. I feel like he's better at working with characters he gets to establish himself than write characters who've had a long history like Thor.

If you are not reading this, wtf is wrong with you ?

Joe Mad is coming back for later issues, relax lady and gents.

Also, Mark Waid Avengers is too good of an idea for Marvel to actually do. It would probably drop in sales from Bendis, causing a switch to the sales magnet himself, Jeph Loeb. We get the comics we deserve, it seems.

Has anyone read any of the Top Cow Pilot Season books? I checked out a few. The one that stood out to me was, The Beauty. Very interesting and original concept. I hope it wins and gets made into a series.

I'm reading Penguin. One of the few ones from the new reboot that I kept. Really enjoying the art and story.

Also, was finally able to read Batwoman Elegy at my comic store. Really good and it gave the background story to the new Batwoman comics which I'm enjoying much more now that I have that info.

Might try to get some older comics but its hard for my store to get anything, pretty sure its closing down soon.

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Yup. Much better than the wiki article made it out to be, but I suppose that's true for a lot of things heh.

Definitely going to keep Batwoman, which incidentally comes out next week, might have to go digital eventually though.

Also noticed the current story arc is coming to an end with issue #5 of Batwoman but in issue #6 new artists are joining the team. I hope the style doesn't change too much since I know nothing of artists or writers all that well yet. Only thing is J.H. Williams being a part of the Elegy book. I suppose getting to know artists/writers comes with time though.

I'll be posting next week!

Today's pickups, from this week and last:

Daredevil #6
FF #12
Flash Gordon Zeitgeist #1
Herc #10
Punisher #6
T-Bolts #166
Tiny Titans #46
Uncanny X-Men #2
X-23 #18
X-Factor #228
X-Men Legacy #259

The plan is for J.H. Williams and Amy Reeder to alternate arcs. Co-writing the book on top of doing the art is quite a lot, so they planned to give him a rest and time to get a head start on his next stuff. I don't know if anything has been said about whether she'll just do her own thing or try to incorporate some of JHW's style.

Brutal week. Here's what I got my hands on:

ASM
Punisher
Animal Man
Swamp Thing
Jennifer Blood
Chew
Hellblazer Annual
TMNT: That Raphael Book
Sweet Tooth (First taste of this book. Had to check it out after reading the first issues of Animal Man. I haven't read it yet--what's a good starting point for this series?)

There was also a good deal on trades... Chew Vol 1 & 2, The Boys Vol 2. And got a first print of Swamp Thing #1 to replace my red copy. Not a bad day. Would have picked up the new Deadpool too, but the delivery got stuck in the snow or something. Sounds suspicious here in AZ, but I'm sure some of you would say I got lucky. Yeah, well...

Any other cool stuff come out today?

I can't imagine not starting at issue #1. That would be really weird. The first 3 trades are out now with the 4th arriving in January.

Sweet Tooth is definitely fantastic though. Well worth reading.

So this Luther Strode character...

Is his strange talent just punching holes through guys? Or has it gotten better since the first book?
