The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

I'm so used to play soccer games with four shoulder buttons that I can't imagine how they are mapping controls to allow the same freedom with two less buttons.
I guess that (considering the classic FIFA control scheme) it's something like R=R2 and L=L1, and they must find a way to substitute L2 and R1.

Holycrap. System seller right here. FIFA games are perfect for an Handheld but they've always been shit. This looks to be the same as the PC/PS3/360 version.

Agree. As i said in a previous post, sony HAS to link vita to fifa in euroland and they have the system seller. I have skipped this year s fifa on ps3 because i wanted to pick it on vita if it was like the console one.

I was even impressed with FIFA for iPhone this year. Time passes, tech gets better and here we are. FIFA for Vita is going to be sick.

I just reserved two Vitas (Vitae?) for pickup on release day. All anyone has left are the 3G model, unfortunately, but that's OK. The game I'm most hyped for, Wipeout 2048, is being delayed until January, so I might just sell the one that I'd been planning to make my own!

I agree with the other posters who like the pleasant sturdy feel of the Vita. The screen didn't wow me, but the buttons felt solid.

Matmanx1, was the track you played "Metropia"? That's the one I'm most eager to see, as it's supposed to be in a futuristic Kyoto. The one in 2207 is pure sci-fi architecture, but the one in the near future should have most of today's Kyoto skyline included, which itself is a sometimes-beautiful, sometimes-hideous mishmash of 21st century moderinty going all the way back to the wood and lacquer of the 1600s.

I believe it was Metropia but don't quote me on it. Whatever it was it looked and played beautifully. The lighting was especially good. I had to ask the Sony rep specifically to not play Wipeout in link mode so that I could pick a different event. I did not get the option to pick my ship but the game was not in final form either.

Perhaps an upper portion of the back touch pad can substitute L2 and R2?

I mean the Vita is littered with input possibilities, shouldn't be hard to implement a comfortable solution.

I'm so looking forward to playing through Persona 4 again on the subway. There's no way they wouldn't release that in North America, right?

In theory that could be a viable solution, but I have a feeling that they will end up adjusting the control scheme making possible to do everything only with buttons.

SEGA putting a tonne of effort into VT4!

If only the same can be said about their newly announced Samurai & Dragons Vita game:

All ATLUS USA releases now are SMT and western games, so there's no chance Persona 4: The Golden stays Japan-only.

H-How is that possible? Those graphics look fucking sick, bullshots?
The game doesn't look that clean in motion, but even so the shots really aren't all that impressive. Only the character models are decent.

If you look at the third screen in particular, there's nothing there that PS2 couldn't handle - it's very basic geometry and flat, low-res textures. The first shot is full of N64-level textures when you ignore the marginally impressive character model (dem fingers!), and the fourth shot looks like a high-res Dreamcast game minus the floor texture.

A whole lot of meh.

Sorry but this doesn't scream PS2 to me...looks great. And downsized to the Vita's screen it will likely look even better.

and here's shinobido 2

character poly seems as low poly as psp character model, but at least we got much improved environment this time.[/QUOTE]

This look as ugly as Way of the Samurai 3 on PS360.

Zipper makes the ugliest games ever. They have no artists at all.
Ugly graphics and awful community is what Zipper is known for. Thank God they make such a unique and great gameplay system though (well, at least for SOCOM).

If Unit 13 has online, I may get it. No online = no buy.

They haven't made a decent Socom in almost eight years. Obviously that's just my opinion, but they lost their way a long time ago.

So is 256MB of ram reserved for the OS?

BTW I don't know shit about all this technical mumbo jumbo. Just wondering. :p

Pretty sure the Vita has 768mb of Memory. 256mb is dedicated to the OS while the rest (512) is for games to use (sound, code, geometry, animations, textures, screen buffer). Tenchu is definitely not a game that's taking advantage of the hardware. Little Big Planet Vita looks to me like one of the games that's really pushing the system this early on.

You can use the touch panel for controlling with UMvC3.

Controls:

Move forward/backward by dragging forward/backward
Dash forward/backward by flicking forward/backward
Duck by dragging down
Jump by flicking up
Change characters by tapping and holding the icon of the new character
Call on assist character by tapping the icon of the assist character
Attack by tapping anywhere but the icons
Execute your Hyper Combo by tapping the Hyper Combo Gauge

Pretty interesting. It really has to be responsive to work well, or it will just feel tacked on.

Nah, I think it's 512MB total. 256MB for the OS is just too much, actually. But you never know. The Vita's OS seems to have a lot of stuff.

Awful, lol.

It's 640MB total (512MB + 128MB VRAM).

I actually wouldn't be too surprised if up to 256MB was used by the OS. But I'm not sure those shinobido screens are enlightening wrt that, they have some contradictory numbers between different shots etc.
