The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

Thanks for the links, this will save some time during the actual event. At least I'll know what to do without reading the manuals.

Sumioni trailer looks really interesting.

Wonder how similar it feels "paint-brushing" compared to Okami on PS2?

Having watched the UMvC3 video for Vita, are the backgrounds still static or should I say more active? Having not played MvC3 on the consoles, I have no idea.

Shinobido 2 may look poor in comparison, but that's seriously a massive improvement over the original PS2 game.

also seems to be the first game to use the back touch panel to aim (?)

Request to Gaffers who will go to Roppongi event tomorrow - I'd be grateful if you could report how bad the lines are and if it gets any better at later hours.

Doctor Who and the infinity clock for PS3 and PSV

Lucky we are Sony has understand that gamers want different gameplay experience in handheld gaming... so they say...

I'm not really sure what argument you are attempting to make. Are you saying the Vita is full of console ports? Or there aren't enough short burst games?

I never bought the argument that hand held gaming can only be gaming in tiny chunks. I've played IOS and 3DS games for a couple hours.

Thanks for sharing those links Spiegel. Watching all these videos makes me want a PSVita even more, despite the recent news about different Vita flaws.

Dragon's Crown
Escape Plan
LittleBigPlanet
Modnation Racers
Sumioni
Tales of Innocence R
Final Fantasy X HD
Gravity Daze
Persona 4
Ruin
Ys

Then we have games I might not get, but still have a slight interest in.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Hot Shots Golf
Virtua Tennis 4
Super Stardust

If all these games do come out in Europe/US, that will be crazy. These are all games that will be out before the end of next year.

A couple of weeks ago Sony told that they understand the "porting mistake" they did on Playstation Portable, and that they won't do the same mistake with Vita....
Doctor Who game disagree with them..

There is a difference between porting a game at a later time and a game being multiplatform at release

Monkey Ball looks great

Shinobi 2 looks FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!! That glider, that chain kill!

Ragnarok actually looks really good. I might buy that.

Finally a video shows that it is possible to use buttons to go through dialog in Gravity Rush. The preview build until now had you do the stupid "push the button on the screen instead of X" bullshit.

no digs or anything but why is it that people seem to think they're getting free shit from Sony all the time?

if it's not "vita/Ps3" it's "well, i BOUGHT this game once - where's my free for ever digital version?!"

Seems some games will offer the same game for one purchase but i don't think it's going to be the norm.

Because we already saw the alternative on PSP. I'm not overly upset about the PSP transfer situation. But the games offering cloud-saving and cross-play are sort of wasted effort if you have to pay twice for the same game. Only a few knuckleheads are going to do that.

If you tie both version of the game to the same account, then both versions benefit (see-also Portal 2 on PS3).

Haha. They included four different ways to control the camera in Ragnarok Odyssey, though who in their right minds would want to use the D-pad is beyond me.

Gravity Daze's combat looks sped up in that new video. I remember there were concerns about the loading time. Anything about that getting fixed?

Apologise if it's old news but thought I post it. In one of the Kotaku videos you can see the notification on the Vita when a friend log in.

Grabbed a screenshot.

It looks like the speed of the video has been modified, look at the fingers of the player... their moves look a bit unnatural, i suspect the speed of the video is x1.5

I still don't understand why the user specific PSN avatar not show up in the notification box. Too resource intensive?
Also, looks like 8-4 worked on Gravity Rush (mentioned in this weeks 8-4 podcast)

I hope the soundtrack in that new Katamari game is good and the music in that video isn't representative.. makes me want to pass and go back to play Katamari Forever

I was watching the whole of that katamari video, just waiting to see if he plays with the analogs. You can play with the analogs right, not touch only? and is it fairly import-friendly? not played much katamari and with it being 'wacky' etc it might be a bit bewildering to navigate around.

It can be played with just analogue sticks yes, and it doesn't require anything to play the game. It's pretty straight-forward.

That's too big, even when considering the notification could have been a line smaller had the username been shorter

A friend told me that Ridge Racer only features some cars and tracks, and everything else is DLC.

Is it true? Or as always you can unlock everything playing the game and the DLC are just paid "early unlocks"?

For the JP release yes, with the DLC being available in like February. Maybe they'll include it all for the US/EU launch.

It's true. RR Vita is basically a paid demo with more stuff you need to pay for (no play the game to unlock sort of thing). Hopefully Scamco will just include all the DLC for the western release.
