And Crosby -is- overrated... He is a star that's treated like a superstar. Canadian media makes him out to be like Gretzky and still treats him that way even though he has shown he is nowhere near the talent of him.

So what do the Pens and Sid do now? He took 11 months off and now after a run of the mill hit, he's experiencing concussion like symptoms again.

Will he even be able to take another strong hit again?

Crosby should get out before he gets another serious head injury. What more do you need from hockey, dude? You've won a Cup, won a gold medal, won every individual award, at the ripe age of 24, you're already a lock for the Hall of Fame, and you're rich. Get out while you still have your health.
 
This is a sad day for hockey. Crosby is probably done. I always hoped he would come back fine and healthy, but he couldn't even handle a normal collision.

There was one more collision with Crosby in the Bruins end where Crosby was lying on the ice after a hit that I can't find.

I'm not celebrating his injury, just the Bruins physicality. This is the NHL and not one of the practices where he takes "full contact". Can't expect the Bruins to take it easy on the guy just because he's a "superstar". If he can't take an incidental elbow, then he probably isn't ready to return.
 
Sucks about Crosby. At least he was fortunate enough to have won the Stanley Cup and a gold medal in the Olympics. Not that that helps him much, but most players never accomplish what he has.
 
Damn that sucks for Crosby, Pens, and just hockey fans in general. It's sad seeing such a talent going down like this, but I too would not be surprised if he calls a quits here. Definitely feels like it's going to be a story of a potential legend that never blossomed.

What? Dude IS a legend and DID blossom. If this happened 3 years ago, you'd be spot on. But now, he has done it all.

At Crosby's age, he's undoubtedly hungry for more. He sees an entire career ahead of him and must be scared to death of losing it.

It's not worth his health though. Even though he's achieved so much, I feel terrible for the guy.

Say what you want, but this doesn't bode well for any hockey fan. Crosby is the poster boy of the NHL and losing him would be tragic. Look at what he's achieved so far in his young, prosperous career.

Even if Crosby were to pack it in right now, I don't really know how that career can be defined as anything but "great".
 
Like I said, if he hangs it up now at 24 he's STILL a first ballot Hall of Famer. That alone is, in and of itself, insanely impressive. Only 5 full seasons (and 7 overall) in the NHL and already a HoFer.

Of course I agree that with his accolades at his age makes him legend of the hockey world, but I felt something special from him that could possibly transcend beyond just hockey legend into an sports icon that even a non-hockey/mainstream fans would pay attention to. (Call me crazy, but I thought that he could/can reach Jordan status in terms of hitting a chord with the mainstream audience.)
 
No hockey player will ever reach Jordan status. Gretzky at the peak of his popularity was still not even in that stratosphere,

No way would that ever cross his mind to get out now because he's done enough already. He's been playing his whole life to make it to the NHL , this is his life. No way he'd quit.
