I only understood about half of what Bane said, and I'm English. Perhaps it was the quality, perhaps it was slightly too distorted by the mask. Regardless that was a pretty brilliant set piece. Got far more excited by the closing montage more than anything though.

Just got back from MI4.

Can I just confirmed with others that saw the prologue that the prints were deliberately altered in terms of sound. Nobody in my audience could understand a goddamn thing anybody said. And the sound system was fine before and after the prologue. Disgusting by WB.

I can understand altering the sound for a 30 second commercial, but a 6 minute clip? That would be torture. Why even show the clip at all?

the sound film was most likely at fault than WB. If this occurs in other theaters too, then you can say how disgusted you are, but this is most likely just a shitty coincidence on your part.

It seems WB has sent out prints with borked sound. To stop piracy? Who the fuck knows. All I know is that people were PISSED. The scene looked amazing in IMAX, but nobody could understand jack shit. Absolutely disgusting.

*But definitely go see the awesome Ghost Protocol.

I dunno man...I've heard the original leak, shag's soundcloud link and both bootleg's..the sound is fine for what they are..maybe the crappy phone mics were able to distill all these alterations into something listenable.

What exactly are the people you confirmed this with saying?
 
It sounded like a mono sound channel piping any bit of dialogue through. You could half understand the non-Bane characters and not understand a single thing Bane said.
 
I won't be watching the prologue anyways, same as I didn't watch TDK's, but this sucks for those who are paying to watch it.
 
I really don't understand why they would bother. I have no intentions of watching the prologue but i think this is a silly practice and i don't like them being dishonest about it when people are paying to go see it.
 
I guess I'll find out Friday what it sounds like in the actual theater. Like I said, all the bootlegs sounded fine for what they are. Specifically Carcetti who has the most lines in the scene and is not speaking with a thick accent.

Should I revive that thread? But I have seen the prologue so I would post about it....in spoiler text.

Confirmed? Deliberate? Why? Who?

And besides Bane everyone sounded fine. I hope they fix his voice because other than not completely understanding what he said, the prologue was fucking amazing. Can't stop thinking about it. The music, the stunt work, the action, and just the epic way it all happens.

BTW anyone else agree with me that
that can't be the real opening of the movie? I still say its the opening sequence but its spliced up with footage of Gordon and without some context to the whole CIA operation.

What's being reported all over the place is people having trouble understanding Bane. No one but you is saying that they couldn't understand any character.

Nah, I just think that we have absolutely zero context for that scene, and explanations for what all occurred would normally come in the two-plus hours of film that follows, but we have over a seven-month wait to put that scene into context.

I agree with Sculli. I saw it at Lincoln Square, the preeminent (read: only real) IMAX theater in Manhattan, and the overall sound quality was horrendous. I've seen other films in that exact theater and it wasn't nearly that bad. I couldn't make out all of the lines spoken by
CIA Carcetti
, let alone Bane.

Yeah, I'm starting to think that's the case too.
 
Well, I watched the crappy quality one. It was good. Got me hyped but not anything great. I mean, I want to see it in full glory knowing I will be able to watch the rest :P
