NHL December |OT| The Team You Cheer For is Not Good Compared To Our Team

Went to the Canucks game. Columbus has a great arena. Luongo looked like he was blindfolded and Sedins were trying to finesse goals instead of scoring. Bleah.

yea, i really like Columbus' arena. And the R Bar in the area is a pretty cool place to go pre/post game.

*hugs*

And maybe with the re-alignment, next year will be the year the Leafs and Habs meet in the playoffs for the first time in my life.

My body quivers at that thought.

Habs vs Leafs playoff banter will go down as the greatest playoff thread in NHL-GAF history.

I'd die for that my man. Last time I remember Leafs/Habs in the playoffs was the 70s. If you thought the Bruins/Habs was intense, that would pale in comparison with the entire country transfixed on Leafs/Habs. You know the west would hate it because it would be front page news even in Vancouver.

In before a lengthy Soccerges post about Vancouver not having an inferiority complex

All 3 Habs prospects - Gaalagher, Bournival and Beaulieu - made the final Team Canada WJC roster - fuck yeah! Gallagher is going to stretch some serious box in the WJC.

Dunno if anyone was able to make it today but it felt fucking awesome being back on the ice again. One of the greatest feelings there is, I swear.

Last time I was on the ice was a playoff game my junior year of undergrad on my school's club team. I'm in my last year of law school. Just haven't had the space for my equipment, transportation to get it to the rink, or really the time. Next semester's goal is get in shape for a summer men's league, though the whole BAR prep thing will probably end up keeping me away. /feelsbadman

Recently I've started going out to a basketball court near my new apartment with rollerblades and just shooting a ball around. It's not the same though...

where you located man? I'm learning to skate/play, but haven't been out there really since I dislocated my shoulder (did it on the ice also).

I skated a few times a few weeks after I did it, but my doctor said he was completely against it and insurance may not pick me up if I fuck it up again on the ice against doctors order... so I stopped :/

but now I'm healthy so I'm looking to get back out there but the closest rink is about 45+ mins away and I kinda don't have the money for gas and my car kinda blows ass... so......

:(

Ok, so Solo's post in the awe inspiring photos thread has me all warm and fuzzy thinking about LeClair and Desjardins, which has lead me to the following question for everyone here:

What players from your favorite team would you want to get the chance to win a cup with another team so that they could achieve their goal? For example, if Kimmo was in the last year of his contract and the Flyers were not in the playoff picture I would sort of expect Homer to give him away for close to nothing to a big name contender. I will also always cheer for any team Richards is on when not playing the Flyers. There aren't many players that I've developed that sort of love for over the years. Off the top of my head I can think of BrindAmour, LeClair, Recchi, and Richards. Lindros would have been in there but he left like such a little bitch. There might be more, but I can't think of them.

I'm in DC, so the rinks are kind of pain in the ass to get to without a car, and keeping smelly equipment in a small apartment just sucks all around.

The only one I can think of, and I'm talking 7-8 years from now if Montreal hasn't won a cup, is Price. Only current Hab who is likely to have a Hall of Fame career and have his jersey retired.

ah yeah I hear that. last year we had a small apt. and I had my shit in the bathroom LOL I'd spray it down all the time to keep the stuff fresh and rid bacteria and what not.

We have a townhouse with a basement now, so I could store it down there, but like I said, closest rink is near an hour away :/ sucks big time.

like this?

LOL! well done mac

Its even better being out on an outdoor rink really early in the morning
I dream of shit like this... :(

I used to drive an hour and a half to play hockey with friends in my hometown every other week. We would rent ice for a couple hours late at night but it fell apart because we couldn't find a second goalie who would play every week. :(

good god that sounds awesome too. I'd make that sort of drive for ice like that. I don't have many friends that play hockey, and most of them are too good for me to be able to jump in :/

I'll be looking for hockey camps whenever I have free time to step my game up. it's too bad I never got into hockey as a kid :(

EDIT:
no word on Prongs just yet but Schenn was on the ice this afternoon for practice. he didn't have a non-contact pinnie either. he says it's unrealistic he plays in MTL. hopefully he gets back soon though..

I would add Markov to this list (the one about people I'd love to see winning the cup) if he ever comes back to play. I think he's a great player, and he looks like a great guy. Maybe Gorges, too.

I feel like the grim reaper posting all of the concussion updates. The players keep piling up.

Jeff Skinner and Joni Pitkanen are the new ones.
