WHELP

Rarely do we see such flagrant examples of suspend the result, not the action.

And it just had to be a Bruin that got off scot-free.

[edit] I actually thought Sanjuro was kidding about the non-suspension. Didn't seem possible.

A fine? Give me a break. $2500 is nothing to a professional hockey player.

TALBO!!!!!!

Tbh was expecting that out of pronger. Not surprised :/

Now if I hear news like that about giroux I quit

Are teams ever going to go back to wearing their whites at home? I still hate it today as much as I did seven years ago or whenever they switched. Like, it bothers me.

I hope not. The team's main colors should be worn at home. White at home for everyone is boring.

McBain slashes Burrows. Nothing. Burrows slashes McBain. Two minutes. Refs must be intimidated.

I wonder if Carolina's leading the league in PP-PK ratio for yet another season. Carolina has already had 3 PPOs in 15 minutes. Canucks have had none.
Well, second in the league this year.

What is it about Carolina that gets them so many more PPs than PKs every year?

Once again Martin's reasoning behind putting a player on the ice is "you haven't scored in a while, so I'll give you a chance!", just like with the shootout selection.

Avery also gave off some serious Bill Paxton vibes during the opening montage when he said "You're a fucking loser"...maybe that was just me

I actually like Anisimov a lot. Seeing him apologize after the Tampa loss was cool after how he was vilified...just one of the things you don't see

I thought it was pretty funny how Ani legitimately didn't expect it to be a big deal. It was pretty stand up of him to immediately apologize after the game. Also liked how Torts didn't make a huge deal about it in the locker room.

Wait until Giroux gets back. Flyers have a pretty solid squad from top to bottom this season.

D has been spotty this year, and Pronger was starting to look really good again before he got that stick to the eye. Just feels like such a shitty thing right now as a fan. They got a goalie, the supposed missing piece, only to lose another piece for the year 20 games in. ..and who knows about Giroux. Frustrating

I know you're a pens fan and can commiserate on the injuries, but pittsburgh at least has a recent cup win

Yeah, definitely frustrating. Lets just hope giroux comes back HEALTHY

Also.. Think pronger will retire? This is kind of a big deal...

Quite possibly. I was thinking he was on his last legs when they announced his knee surgery but you add a season-ending concussion on top of that and it doesn't look good.

Actually, this makes the contract not as bad, and actually gives us some room to work with this season come deadline. Once Pronger "retires" aka can't play anymore due to injury he goes on LTIR and we get credits towards the cap for his salary every year. That's a huge win for the Flyers for the next few years considering how bad he's been when he's played. And for this year we're going to have like 3.5m in credits by the time the deadline comes along so if Homer thinks Giroux will be healthy and we can make a playoff run he can get a pretty damn good rental that we may actually be able to sign next season.

So yeah, on one level this really sucks. Pronger can be great and brings something really important to the team. However, he hasn't been playing well lately and this potentially solves the problem that everyone has seen coming for years with Pronger's ridiculous cap hit late in his career.

Just reposting this on the Pronger situation. It is not all bad. Pronger didn't look very good when he played this season anyway. This is not the earth shattering news it's being treated as. Expect the Flyers first round pick this year to go away by the deadline though.

I'm a lurker of this thread but Pronger is my fav player. WTF. I'm sad :(

Welcome! Go Flyers! Try not to get too bummed about Pronger. This team has the potential be a lot of fun for a long time.

Except when your nostalgic connection to hockey involves 20 years of it being the other way around. And how is white at home boring? So road teams always wearing white is more exciting? What does that even mean?

For the record I'd also be in favor of both teams wearing their darks; whites could be reserved for when uniforms clash (err, match).
