with the account news I have to figure out what to do..

- stick with my UK psn account which has my psp games on and is easy for me to buy things

- use my US psn account which has all my friends and trophies, but is a pain to buy for as I have to buy cards from the internet. Plus I'd lose my psp games

So switching accounts does format the memory card?

I'm thinking of making an entirely new account for Vita separate from my PS3 friends trophies. No idea why I feel this way but starting fresh and with a new name on Vita just seems right.

What if there are games that have PS3 functionality?

I'm beginning to feel the irresistible pull of new hardware, but I'm just waiting for the news to drop that says you won't be able to save games on a memory card formatted for another region. I dread it. Please tell me my fears are unfounded and I can continue to import my animu rhythm games unimpeded.

The two most obtrusive and artwork detracting packaging designs around. Seriously, those green Xbox packages clash with everything, and the Vita follows it instead of the clear packaging...

but yes, the size is nice, DS packaging is oddly thick.

Nice sized cases, would have preferred transparent blue but of course they couldn't do that with the blu-ray cases. And blue is much better on the eyes than neon green.

I have finally forged a plan, and it seemed smart enough that DCharlie has decided to use the same plan.
Anything multiplayer, buy DL versions, so it's always on the machine.
Single-player, buy package versions, so you can resell it when you're done with it.
This is where all the publishers start making everything multiplayer...

Dont do it. You'll be screwed with those game with sync game file between ps3 and vita

ugh, that just reminded me that I bought the PS3 when I lived in the US so my main account is USA but I buy all the stuff on a Canada account... I don't have that many friends that it's that much of a problem to create a new one but the copy protected save scenario means I have to go back and play on the old account... might as well get it in order now for Vita

Interesting. The insert in the Uncharted box says there's a firmware update on the card.

Just ordered my Vita!! Cannot FRICKIN WAIT!!

Got Uncharted, Hot Shots, and UMvC3, and a PSN Card for LittleDeviants and whatever else there is :)

Next week cannot come soon enough XD

WTF. Play-asia have just emailed me to inform me that they are unsure if they are going to be able to supply me with my HK Uncharted bundle AT ALL.

They say that they have just been advised that its extremely limited in stock and they are trying to source it from other places...

The boxes almost look too small to me. I mean blu-ray is already pretty tiny and this is 3/4th BD package? Hmmm...maybe it looks better in person.

Sigh can't wait for the 23rd Dec to come by for my country to have them.

I do hope there's no widespread dead pixel issues like the launch of the PSP.

I thought it might be a good idea to phone the Tsutaya where I want to buy my Vita about the memory card and other stuff, and damn. 16GB cards and Vita cases are out of stock, so I'll have to go to Shinjuku/Shibuya/wherever to get all the stuff I want. Damn.

I don't know if I should hate you or be sorry for you ... I think i'll go with the former.

TAKE ME WITH YOU! Ugh, so wish I could I be there for this launch. All this importing jazz is making me crazy.

I just ran (actually jogged) to my local game store and they had everything but the Wifi model in stock. The game cases are really, really small. They had Vita cases too in a lot of colors, pretty nice design. Amazon has the memory cards so much cheaper (well not the 16gig) than any of the stores I've seen.

Also it was nice to see that the back label does tell you whether you need a memory card or not. Uncharted clearly said it needed 64 or so megs, while something like Lord of the Apocalypse had no such icon.

One more day!

Where is it? I might go there right now.

Haha, unfortunately I'm not a big island dweller like you. One of the few good things about it is there aren't exactly sell outs when it comes to gaming stuff. In fact the store I mentioned above had a bunch of Lightning version 2 PS3's as well. Also apparently Hori released some kind of upper case attachment for the PS3 that gives you a Lightning design on top. Was 2000 yen but looked ridiculous. I'm pretty sure the bigger stores will have Wifis in stock so I might..might...might.......no I won't. Must wait for white Vita.

Ah damn. Well, I hope that I won't have any problems buying the 16GB memory card, game, case and protective screen in Shinjuku. To tell the truth, I don't even know where I should go next if it's not there. Shibuya? Ikebukuro? Akiba? They're all in different directions, lol.

Hm, Akihabara will probably be packed plus it's the only one on the other side of the Yamanote if you're startin from Shin. There's a few gaming shops right behind Sunshine Prince in Ike (by the east entrance to the station) and the giant Yamada right next to the main station. Worth a shot maybe. The 16 gig definitely seems hard to track down in general.

Well, Akiba will be hell tomorrow, that's for sure. I'm thinking about Shibuya - biggest Tsutaya and the Bic/Yodobashi set. But Ike doesn't sound half bad. Well, let's just hope I'll get it in Shinjuku and be a happy man.

Amazon has shipped mine today. But I won't be there for another 2 weeks. Meanwhile, I'll be air-Vita-ing like those guys in the ad.

Expect to pay between 30%-50% of total as custom fees. I would advice to just cancel and manage for 2 months.

To what country? The Vita/games/accessories seem to fall under harmonization code 9504.90.4000 ("Game machines, other than those operated by coins, banknotes (paper currency), disc or similar articles; parts and accessories thereof ") which I believe has no additional duties when brought into the US.

Here is the ruling from US Customs stating that the Nintendo DS falls under this category (so the Vita should be similar, there is another HS code for game consoles that plug into televisions, this one is for game consoles that don't):

I would expect fees from Tenso to be significant, though. I used to use a forwarding service when I was buying crap from Yahoo Auctions, even the cheapest place was pretty steep. I probably wouldn't bother to import if it weren't for the fact that I have a friend forwarding it to me.

As for what happens to mine, hopefully I don't get an unpleasant surprise on arrival as far as customs fees :) It looks like FedEx will charge a 390Y fee for Customs brokerage but I didn't see any additional duty when I used their tax and duty estimation tool on their website (http://www.fedex.com/jp_english/)...

Also, why haven't you shipped mine yet Amazon...well, hopefully I will get the emails for the machine and the games tomorrow morning...
