Um, I was saying that the last OVA's depressing ending was non-canon and should be ignored, and that the manga has the true ending... so, non-canon for the depressing ending, instead of "alternate", because using "alternate" to me at least implies that it's more valid than I think it is. That awful movie ending should be forgotten about, it was so wrong...

actually it fully doesn't since the manga ended when he just got his son and in the OVA his son is in his teens so its a possible scenario. But it does contradict the tone set by the ending (very much so ) and Watsuki and that should be enough imo.

Cafe Detective Club (this is the Nagasarete Airantou guy's newer manga)

In the most recent few chapters, the girls are on vacation, sort of. The first chapter of the trip is a standard beach episode, but after that it gets to the mystery part, which is more original. I wonder if they have any chance of solving the mystery without the help of the mystery-solving girl, the rest of them are clueless...

... Yeah, I think they've got a just about guaranteed ticket to that haunted island, or whatever exactly it was the losing team has to do. But we'll see, they could pull it off!

(As for this series, yes, I like it. Is it better than Nagasarete Airantou? I'm not sure... maybe. There's sort of been a continuing plot so far, and it's not harem this time -- the main characters are all female. Okay, one of them does have a brother that one of the others likes, but it's not a harem show. So it's got some group-of-girls comedy elements, as well as mystery and maid cafe elements. And videogames, here and there.) These couple of chapters are the first strongly focused on the mystery element, though. It's good to finally see some, given that the one I think is the main girl likes mysteries so much.

That's not true, plenty happens. Nothing CHANGES (nothing, apart from occasional new character introductions!), but plenty happens, and despite how annoying it is that there is an almost complete lack of plot or character development, there are more than enough amusing and funny things in the series to be worth reading, or at least I thought so.

Sing Yesterday for Me is a fantastic manga. I take it to mean you've read stuff like Solanin, March Walks in Like a Lion, A Brides Story, Emma and Toyoda Tetsuya's works? because if you haven't those are great slice of life and/or romance.

There are a lot of problems with this image but I'm curious as to why they decided to have "Naburo" fight against Waterboy. Why not have "Naburo" fight against "Loafy" or "Ichiguy"? Or hell, even "Man Aqua" or "Lad Aqua"? If you're going to rip off characters why not go all the way?

Apparently I watch anime SoL and don't really read much of it. Really though, if you want romance then you go shoujo/josei. I got much more recommendations in those categories. Seinen is tough and the above are so-so recommends.

It's not the fact that Ninetales was won over, but how easily it happened. I don't think anyone would have any complaints if they felt Naruto had really tried to form a legitimate partnership with Niney.

naruto barely did anything. it was the hachibi who ultimately talked some sense into the kyuubi. Personally, i got sick of seeing the kyuubi doing something sinister or being controlled by virtually everyone. it's about time he swallowed his pride and worked with Naruto. maybe his awesomeness will rub off on Naruto.

How do we even know the kyuubi is evil? Seems to me Kyuubi is like Vegeta: supremely arrogant. The Kyuubi has every right to be pissed, considering he's been nothing more then a pawn for virtually everyone and then trapped inside a little boy.

Drop the pretence, If you ever read more then one shoujo romance then you know it's the same garbage retold in the same bad art, shounen romance mangas are also garbage once they hit the second chapter but with that at least you get some tiny variety in your art.

If your tired of the same shenanigans then seninen is the only way to go.

Yeah, I was kind of expecting there to be a greater focus on the pretend relationship and their respective families and the forever drag on them ever actually confessing. Seem that they ran headfirst into "we need a triangle and a plot device" and are just continuing on from there. A bit of a shame since, personally, I do think the characters themselves are a lot more interesting than the plot device they're shackled to.

Really though, I hope it gets some solid direction soon. Something to make it stand out for lack of a better way to put it. I don't think the lock & key plot device is good enough to be anything of focus and I really hope it doesn't end up being something we see brought up every few chapters. Barring, of course, something happening that involves the lock that makes it a bit more than just symbolic.
