cool/nerdy in-joke alert: note the R in the Rogues sign

Neat thing I picked up in the prologue. Bane says "No one cared who I was until I put on the mask." Compared to Batman who people cared about as Bruce Wayne before he put his mask on. Interesting dichotomy going on there.

lol

Yes I'm sure they'll just cut out the scene that is clearly a significant event.

I didn't mean the attack on the stadium itself, but the scene where Hines Ward runs past the explosion. It would have a better impact if that stupid scene, which is kind of played for giggles, were left out. You know, showing an act of terrorism as something completely terrifying. That run isn't very significant. Unless you are rooting for that team? Then I guess it's still a touchdown and therefore a significant scene?

I'm still not sure how anyone can come to any real conclusions on that scene when we have no real context for it. It's just a snippet. We need both the build-up and the aftermath to make any real judgement there.

I guess you can think it looks like a silly special effect but remember that you are continuously re-watching the same few seconds of a bootleg. When you watch the movie, that scene will happen fairly quickly and will probably flow pretty smoothly with what comes before and after it.

I'm pretty sure Nolan said in a recent interview they haven't done much editing for the movie yet outside of the teasers/trailers so everything we're seeing is super early

My conclusion is that it's a goofy looking effect. No amount of build up or aftermath is going to take away that it's a football player running the length of a football field while behind him it's completely imploding, all the while he is oblivious of the fact. That is stupid. I'm sorry.

It plays out just like this scene from 2012.On a much smaller scale, though. Obviously.

Eh, the explosion scene is literally 3 seconds long, and his momentum is carrying him forward. I can suspend disbelief for a thing like that. The effect itself is irrelevant to me in a series where so much is inherently goofy; what matters is what the ultimate impact of that scene will be, and how it fits with the rest of the movie.

One month from now: "The ENTIRE special effects team for the upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises was found dead today..."

6 months later: Highest grossing film of all time.

9 months later, TDKR takes homes all the golden boys for Special Effects.

2-3 years later, a small selection of people come to have the opinion that the football scene was in fact the only good parts of the film and the cycle continues.

What makes you think he wasn't just running for a touchdown, heard and felt shit start exploding everywhere around him, and decided to keep hauling ass until it no longer felt like the ground was falling away under his feet?

I very much doubt anyone could be oblivious to that many explosives going off in your vicinity. Maybe if they're blind, deaf and paralyzed enough not to feel the massive vibrations, but then they wouldn't be playing competing in football.

But yeah, I agree with you, still somewhat goofy.

After that trailer, I'm sure you can't wait for the TDKR children's books

I really can't wait to have kids so they can play with some dusty old Bane toys and re-enact the scene where he rips out Batman's spine.

That's because you somehow think he's completely oblivious while everyone else sees him as running so he doesn't die...

Didn't you hear, he's playing Robin.

Dick Grayson is the QB for the Gotham City Rogues when his parents are brutally murdered doing a high wire act during the half time show and he is subsequently recruited by Batman.

The climax of TDKR involves Robin shouting "GO LONG" as he tosses a crucial final piece of Bane's detonator to Batman as the floor of the Batcave crumbles into the center of the Earth.

Kid #2: "Well see about that!"
