NHL December |OT| The Team You Cheer For is Not Good Compared To Our Team

Weirdest hockey game I've ever been to, but I was really happy with the crowd reaction. Teemu seemed to appreciate it.

And yeah, sloppy win by the Jets. I'll take it, though.

Yeah... I was a little worried that some fans would boo him... But thankfully he was treated with the respect and... devotion that he deserves from us. After all, he certainly earned it. I've never seen a more classy hockey player than Teemu Selanne. I still want us to one day retire his number 8. Different franchise be damned, He had an impact that no other Jets player ever did. I feel honoured to have been a part of the fans that saw him when he played for us so long ago.

It was such a horrible day when he was so STUPIDLY traded... I'm glad he has had a successful career since then, but it was the worst trade ever in Winnipeg history. Those of you not living in Winnipeg would obviously not feel the same way nor understand the sheer emptiness us fans felt that day back in 1996...

I'm so glad he played in front of us again one last time. =)

Really odd game though... I was more focused on an opposing players team (Teemu) as opposed to watching our own play. I NEVER do that. The guy still has it though.

Mason played good too. Nice to have him be solid and give Pavelic a well earned rest. A much better result than last weekend's destruction vs the Wings.

So wait. The Caps were down a goal entering the third period and the boxscore shows me that they have "1" shot on goal in the first 13 minutes?

This team is a complete joke from top to bottom.

It was so weird for me to see Selanne in Winnipeg and having him try to score AGAINST us. I hoped he could have scored on us just to hear the place explode. But... playwise, we played REALLY sloppy and Anaheim could very well have won this game. We just got the luckier bounces this time.

It was so nice to see Selanne again though. If ever there was someone in Winnipeg who would be treated like royalty, it would be him and his family.

Coming up, we play all against teams that are, in my view, worse than us for the remainder of the month. We should have a decent chance at getting a nice batch of points by Xmas.

I hope Little is not hurt too badly, but the way he looked after the last play he was in... ouch. Very happy to have Antropov, Burmistrov and Enstrom back in our lineup. We need them all.

That must have been a great game to be at. :D The crowd was so cool during the war ups and before the game

Wow. A battle of two shit teams and the Avs win. When you get shutdown by the Avs, the fucking Avs of all teams...you are simply just shit. I thought Hunter was an offensive coach? This guy was nothing more than a publicity stunt by George McPhee to take the heat off himself and blind the fans with an ex-Cap behind the bench. Hunter sets more traps than a fucking exterminator. Where's the fucking forecheck?

This team is a joke and will miss the playoffs.
So glad I don't watch them and instead refresh my phone to see just how much worse it can get.

Fuck you Leonsis and suck my dick McPhee.

Just saw the Rangers goal, it highlights everything that is fucking wrong with this league.

Nobody should be trying at under a second remaining. This is America. If this was at the Pee Wee level the Rangers would have had their win taken away and Phoenix would have gotten a trophy so they wouldn't feel bad.

Holy shit, Boyle had a broken foot at the beginning of the season which would explain why he was so incredibly bad.

Also according to Thornton the teams hasn't practiced in two or three weeks. What the fuck is going on?

WHAT?

wtf, where did you read the team hasn't practiced in a few weeks? Something's not happening right in the locker room. You can tell by the lack of fire and heart.

I was at the game and Sharks are awful with entry, just going straight into the opposing player. Still not quite happy with their lack of Sharks hockey.

Another loss to the Canucks. =/ The Leafs are embarrassing. Phaneuf - way to go letting Hansen skate past you.
Forza said it best:
Canucks speed is giving the Leafs fits.
At least they made it a good game. If they hadn't waved off that good goal, Canucks would have gone up 2-0 and the Leafs would have folded like a cheap suit. Instead we got some great hockey.

Canucks with two HUGE games coming up. Detroit on Wednesday, but they've got to take Minnesota more seriously than any. I'll be very disappointed if they drop another to them.

So the last of the USA's troops left Iraq today, which is a fun coincidence, since the last time the Leafs beat the Canucks was when the US invaded Iraq. 8 years sure does fly!

Thornton said it in the post game interview.

How much longer can DW do nothing? Specials teams are laughably bad, something needs to change.

This is the Highest amount of head coaches fired before new years eve ever apparently.
I just assumed this. It's been insane. I'm thinking parity has something to do with it. There's a much finer line between success and failure, so you've got more disappointments out there. To some degree you've also got teams willing to make drastic changes because they see other organizations doing the same.

Crazier because it could be more seeing as people are still surprised colorados coach has a job, jackets coach still has a job, and to an extent wilson still has a job.

Wilson is the eternal scapegoat, but he definitely doesn't deserve to be fired right now.

Who are the Leafs' PK specialists? They just don't seem to have that many.

Today was a nice lesson on how it seemingly points to the fact that every single Winnipeg fan who feels they "own" Teemu was more of a blight on the whole game than any other moment of his career.

I wasn't around during the original Jets era, but the whole time I had met old Jets fans in Canada (collectively about 10 of them) and we'd talk candid respect of Teemu which seemed to be from just beyond mutual levels of respect.

Today the simulcast on CBC, the reaction on forums and on the
media showed me a level of Jets fan that disgusts the shit out of me. Between bouts of happiness at seeing such a legend be as happy as he would be all season, I was almost instantly appalled to see such disrespect towards his career with the Avs, Sharks and Ducks with blatant "ownership" calls of Teemu Selanne. All stemming from as soon as I saw "We forgive you Teemu. Come home" in the stands. Sorry, WHY is he sorry? Why SHOULD he be sorry? Who are you to insinuate that he owes you, the Jeta fan, his whole career?

He set the rookie record, an amazing 76 goals, with you. That's it.

A record that technically belongs with the Phoenix Coyotes.

I know he's the closest Winnipeg fans have had to a living legend that isn't named Hawerchuk (also a current record holder with Phoenix) but that doesn't give Winnipeg fans a reason to shit on every club he's been with.

I'm crushed that the Quackahots couldn't win it for him. I love that he got a stadium full of the admiration he deserves. I nearly swelled when I saw the post game
Bipolar-like activity of Temmu smiling when talking about the evening at MLS then frowning with disappointment at his club that he's spent so much time and energy with. It hurt.

I'm sorry this is how you spent your last year Teemu. I'm glad
you could finally return to where you started. I'm glad your hockey bucket list is finished. May you retire in the glory that you've so solemnly deserved.

The only rafters that own your jersey number are the halls of Hockey Heaven itself.
