Eh, just view it as the perfect opportunity to check out lots of other mangas that you haven't read. It's a good chance to discover something new!

For how many weeks exactly can we expect the breaks will take place?

Speaking of which, by the off chance the horribleness that is SOPA actually gets passed by the US Congress, how will it affect/impact the overall manga scanlation scenes?

I'm guessing the big aggregator sites will be down first. Don't think they will give a shit about targeting the smaller scanlators websites.

Fist of the North Star

So I read all of this over the last week and it sure was something. Nice to finally experience one of the series that helped establish modern shounen. Kind of repetitive at points and the overarching plot wasn't really all there, but fun nonetheless.

But that was kind of a weird ending. So Ken loses his memories just to get it back a few chapters later? Seemed kind of pointless and only there for the sake of drama rather than some otherworldly scheme brought on by the blood of Hokuto. Oh well, at least no one cool died.

Should I check out Fist of the Blue Sky now?

Bambino ( caught Up)

There isn't a manga that makes me feel as bad about being lazy as this one, I tell ya. Schools' out, works out, but even still; this guy's fervor/passion to his spaghetti actually makes me hate myself. That's why I read this: Masochism. Also, it's pretty good.

Which will make the wait even more unbearable.

But Kishi, Oda, Kubo, and the rest of the mangakas deserve their holiday... God only knows how much tears and sweat they must have poured out week by week on a constant basis...

...and yet we get to read them for free, hahaha.
Yeah, they totally deserve the break. I mean they even get people who hate their mangas to come back and read every week! That's tough :P

Just thinking about it. Could you imagine dedicating your every single day to drawing your manga and developing the story for 10 years straight? That has to be fucking ridiculously tiring. Their breaks are minimal compared to how much work they seemingly put in to their weekly schedules. and even during their breaks I'm sure they are spending some time either drawing or catching up or doing something like that. That's some dedication right there.

I think of Jim Davis when I think of dedication.

on the other hand if you don't adhere to that kind of schedule you get the haterz . . .

The Yellow Book

I found this manga very confusing. Maybe it's because I'm reading at 3 AM in the morning, but the panels really didn't flow together nicely. Outside of the first short story which had a nice theme, the rest were meh

That is pretty much what I thought about it, but I really really enjoyed that first story. I would kill to see that mangaka do a full manga in that style.

Yume no Atosaki

It feels like Honey x Clover with a cast that actually likes each other. Fun stuff, I only wish more of it was available.

I think I remember someone posting that cover a while ago, so it piqued my interest....

....did... did I really see her use the vibrator that was in her 10 seconds ago as a microphone.

... wait why have I suddenly started reading smutty manga all of a sudden!?

I believe this is just porn, not simply smut.

They used to translate most of the new Jump manga like two weeks after release which was pretty awesome (usually for series no one else translated). Now they just do the occasional one and way later.

No naruto this week?

It isn't that there's no Naruto, it's that you already got it. WSJ takes the last two weeks off during a year; the chapters you get are always ahead of the actual release of WSJ.

to get this straight, we have to wat perhaps 2 weeks for another chapter?

I know that sometimes we get lucky and get a chapter leak a week or a half week in advance from time to time

Here's the deal laid out

Monday Dec 19 (last week): as usual
Monday Dec 26 (this week): no dice
Monday Jan 4 (probably bordering this week due to early leak): just as planned
Monday Jan 9 (week after next week): nope

(edited some stuff)

I'm pretty sure you're wrong on this. We're supposed to get one chapter this week (which is ahead of time, yes, I mean in pirate's terms) of the Big Three. One Piece and Bleach are having colorspreads I believe. It just coming a bit later than usual.

Um correcting myself, the early issue should be the middle one (supposedly Jan 2), and not the last one. So we'll probably get that issue on the close Saturday/Sunday

So it's close to what Big One said, but rather than "later than usual" it's "way earlier than usual"

So that's a no...

What about next week? :D

Fuck if I know, that's just the way its gone the last couple years. It either comes out or it doesn't. I haven't heard anything that would make me think either way, I'm just going on whatever has happened most other years.

I haven't seen anything that would make me believe we're getting anything other than the usual, super early leaks of the stuff from 2 weeks out (last year we got a random Friday leak from the next week beyond that). Then again, I don't agonize over the release date of Naruto chapters enough to do anything more than speculate on it.

JUMP HOLIDAY SCHEDULE (for us cheaters)

First off, let me apologize to those of you who will be disappointed that this is not a new spoiler thread. Sorry, sucks to be you. With that out of the way, I'll get straight to the point and say that you should be able to expect Chapter 651 spoilers on or around Thursday, December 22nd. That's a few days from now, yes. Also, Chapter 651 should include a two-page color spread. I know, I was sad about that too. Is it possible 651 will come earlier? Yes, possible, but I wouldn't count on it.

For those of you who are new to this, or simply do not understand, JUMP releases two "double" issues back-to-back in December/January to cover the holidays. "Double" does not mean double the content, it means double the time you have to wait for a new issue, haha. But seriously, it does. What does this mean? This means that we shouldn't be getting Chapter 651 this week... but we are. Correction, we are. Because we are getting spoilers this week, super early, we will have to wait three weeks for Chapter 652. Is it possible 652 will come earlier than listed below? Most likely not, no.

So what's the predicted release scheduled for entitled spoiled brats on the internet? Behold:

This year:

January 10th, 2012 (Tuesday) Issue 6 - Chapter 652
December 22nd, 2011 (Thursday) Issue 4/5 - Chapter 651 w/ Color Spread
December 13th, 2011 (Tuesday) Issue 2/3 - Chapter 650
December 6th, 2011 (Tuesday) Issue 1 - Chapter 649

Last Year:

January 11th, 2011 (Tuesday) Issue 7
December 23rd, 2010 (Thursday) Issue 5/6
December 14th, 2010 (Tuesday) Issue 3/4
December 7th, 2010 (Tuesday) Issue 2

This "smutty manga of the week" trend is far worse than any of the shenanigans that come with the Jump releases IMO. On that note...

TLR 82

Rito really should know better than to take random prehistoric plant pills the Slutty School Nurse™ gives him. I have no sympathy.

Even if you lampshaded the fact that you were going to start talking about TLR, it's STILL ironic you bitched about smut and then talked about TLR.
