Not really. I mean, tell that to Hulk Hogan in the 90s.

He could've been Mr. McMahon from the start. When they removed the Vince character the fans were chanting thank you Vince, despite his decade+ of being the most maniacal villain in wrestling.
If they'd just used that opportunity to turn Mr. Hs he could've gotten mega heat and been set up as the new big bad of the WWE, in fact it's a pretty common trope: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MakeWayForTheNewVillains Instead they let the let Johnny Ace take up the role by getting his heat off of a neutered HHH

I can almost guarantee if HHH took out Vince right there, he would be loved for it. The Jimmy crowds were already not feeling Punk that much, prolonging the feud with HHH would've made it even worse. The only way HHH would've gotten real heat would be to screw all of the top babyface guys so that the Jimmys, the Punk fans, and general wrestling fans would all take him seriously as a "Mr. H's" type of character. But that would've made no sense in the flow of that angle.

Johnny Ace should've gotten the immediate heat by contracting Nash and some other heels to take Vince out right after the "thank you, pop" line when Vince was alone. HHH simply wasn't the right guy for that angle and it was dead the moment he got involved.

Is the title of the NBA thread a reference to John Cena or just a coincidence? If it's the former, it just goes to show who truly connects with the mainstream, casual audience. Sorry N_W, enjoy it while it lasts.

( maybe in your case, "enjoy" isnt the right word. Hate it slightly less than you normally do, while you still can.)

Punk, Ryder, and Bryan sold out anyway. Get Cena back in there so we can all Rise Above Logic for the rest of his days.

I be furious if Trips actually takes the streak and I would also not be surprised. The man's ego knos no bounds.
I'm thinking that he won't beat him because that would cause a huge backlash to the WWE fans, specifically me! I can't even watch a Taker Wrestlemania match without getting a heart attack. :P

I had this lovely mental image were HHH beats Taker causing an eruption of boos and the crowd start leaving the arena in disgust, HHH drops to his knees on the verge of tears while Taker looks on disapprovingly. I mean if it actually happens it better happen like this so HHH knows the weight of his heinous booking crime.

I want Kane vs Taker to end the both careers at Wrestlemania. It makes perfect sense storyline wise since they are the yin and yang of each other. I know the match will not be that good, but just throw in some flames and lightning bolts from arm action and it should be decent. :lol

Because we are coming to the end of the month. Let us not forget some of the best times this month. :)

He reminds me of Wizpig. I like that.

So now i've heard Brodus Clay compared to Bowser, King Hippo and Wizpig, i'm seeing a trend here...
At this rate he'll appear as a THQ/Yukes rep in Smash Bros before he actually returns to WWE tv.

Edit: Mickie James just can't win when compared to foodstuffs

Thats how I wanted it to go down as well.

Just have Taker vs Kane Buried alive match number 58 but as the finish they both fall into the grave. THEN THE GRAVE EXPLODES!

Taker doesn't technically lose the streak and nether man is seen again.

Maybe toss Paul Bearer in the grave as well just to tie everything up.

I don't think even HHH is dumb enough to think he could get away with booking himself to end the streak, and I doubt Undertaker would agree to that anyway. But I can totally see it going down with Undertaker winning, but HHH giving him such a beating that he has to retire, so even though he didn't break the streak he can say he ended his career. Make no mistake, HHH will put himself over in the process win or lose.

Keyser the resemblance is scary

Still fapped to the pics though begrudgingly, and the Chyna vids although that was a challenge.

On that note has there ever been pics of a diva leaked which haven't been a let down? Somehow the imagination is always so much better

But he did take out Vince right there and he did it as an underhanded corporate stooge gunning for more power. Then he went and killed the chance of getting heat by pulling that "I love you pop" crap.

I guess I could have phrased it better, I didn't want Triple H to go in and assault McMahon that would just be another lame wrestling storyline rehash. I wanted him to go in and break McMahon's spirit (like he did) and accept the consequential power and villainy that goes with the job.

This is true of all women though. Maybe not Kat Dennings, that was a pleasant surprise.

i almost forgot to tell you guys about my dream this morning

so myself a co-worker and Eric Bischoff had been feuding with Tom Cruise and John Cena about a briefcase. I dont know if the briefcase was the money in the bank, but it seemed to be very important.
We were mostly on the run because we couldnt seem to defeat John Cena, but Bischoff had a plan where he would divert an angry Mark Henry to attack Cena. There was news footage on tv of Mark Henry lifting a tank and flipping other military vehicles.
So during our escape from Cena, my co-worker started to panic, saying he couldnt trust Bischoff etc. I was also reluctant because Cena was just unstoppable. Bischoff was all smiles as if it was all part of a master plan though, and he pulled out a gun and killed my co-worker.
Then a cell phone rang. I was all, "whered you get that cell phone? dont answer it!" because I knew Tom Cruise would trace our location. Bischoff just smiled and answered. I dont know who he was speaking to, but it was as if Bischoff was happy about the conversation.
he was all, "we are going back"
"back where? are we using Mark Henry?"
"no"
and then he puts the brief case down and starts to open it.
then I wake up.

What villainy, though? HHH was the mouthpiece for a board of guys who felt that Vince was losing control. For him to all of a sudden don Vince's crown and have the spirit of Liquid Vince take over his body in some MGS2 style heel turn would be kinda ridiculous. Mr. McMahon was born out of the Montreal Screwjob. It made sense for him to embrace the hatred. HHH being thrown into the angle and turning into Mr. McMahon Part 2 wouldn't make sense, not right now. 10 years after HHH has wrestled his final match? Sure, give it a go.

And like I said, Punk wasn't even completely accepted by the kiddies at that point. The only way HHH was going to get booed by them would be to take out Cena, or Orton which would take the feud in a totally different direction.

In any case, they screwed it up, and the heat is gone now. HHH needs to get behind camera and stay there for a long, LOONG time.

That's why you gotta test drive them first brah.

This thread just got meta. *sunglasses*

Former Heavyweight Champion boxer Riddick Bowe got involved at an independent pro wrestling show back in early December in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. Bowe knocked out a heel manager named Ricky O during a tag team match that saw Sgt. Slaughter and The Patriot take on The Nigerian Nightmares.

- The Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kansas is advertising a WWE Title Match between John Cena and Kane for the February 3rd RAW live event. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio is also advertised.

- WWE has registered to trademark "Fear My Name" which will likely be a catchphrase for a new or existing character.

Hah, Blip removed my account and my videos! They claimed copyright issues, which is hilarious considering other people's videos. Oh well!
For fuck's sake.

Maffew just can't catch a break.

According to pwinsider, the current plan at Wrestlemania is for Triple H vs Undertaker w/ Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. IMO, this is good for Undertaker's streak.

Meltzer provides an update on the Survivor Series buyrate:

It's 280 worldwide
180 domestic

Yeah, the person who gave me the 180 figure got back to me today and said it was actually 160, so it was even worse then we thought.

2010 did 244 and 2009 did 235.

Yeah I suppose you're right, but regardless what we got could have been so much better.

And a literal interpretation of the bolded would have been damn good television

So if Dwayne Johnson can't even pop a buyrate for his first match in 12 years or whatever the f it was, how screwed is this company?
