Kind of regret buying the monthly JL issues. The story right now is really better read in a collection volume.

Also, Ult spidy's actual cover:

Why is Marvel's website always inaccurate?

So it's out now right? Conflicting dates are fucking me up.

Holy shit at that star

Guys, was this or was this not THE best week for X-Men comics all year? :O

Indeed. I've been very happy with X books lately. Here's hoping it continues next year!

And sorry about the incorrect cover for Ult. Spidermang. Marvel's site is the pits. Guess I'll have to double check all the covers from now on. :(

Wasn't preventable. The cover wasn't even correct in the Ult spidey #4 next issue preview iirc.

No more dead mutants.

Brilliant week for the X-books. I was iffy on WatXM at its start, but I'm sold on it now, especially with the UXF bleed in going forward.

I don't really know what on earth was going on halfway through Leviathin Strikes. Way too much, too rapidly and vaguely described.

So I read ultimate spiderman, amazing spiderman, uncanny xforce 19, and wolverine and the xmen #3. My thoughts:

Ultimate Spiderman - I was skeptical going in as some here know, but I'm officially dropping this. I'm just kinda bored, the writing seems like it's trying too hard. I don't "buy" Miles.

Amazing Spiderman - Quite good setup. Really enjoying Dan Slotts work leading up to this, definitely the best spiderman in a while. The issue itself was interesting, can't wait to see what happens.

Xforce #19 - Quite good. Fallout from the latest saga, really like Genesis, everything was....good! As expected for this book.

Wolverine and the xmen - amazing. Definitely my fave book going. Really fun, the focus on the students is really awesome, Quire is hilarious, good stuff all around.

Now to catch up on some DC stuff...

Yeah, I'm totally lost with Batman but...I think it's good!

I LOVED how Wolverine described X-Force's place in the New School Order.

Was wondering that myself, but given that Aaron himself wrote the "Goes to Hell" storyline you can't say it's an oversight on his part. An explanation is coming I'm sure.

It's touched on in the new Wolverine and apparently Loeb and Bianchi will explain it in the next issue, the big anniversary one.

Hey guys, ive started reading new DC Superboy (twas an impulse buy) and im really digging it, ill probably pick up every issue from now on......anyway i did some googling and found this cover.

I havent read any of the DCnU Supergirl and im not really planning on, but im liking the new Superboy so much ill pick up Supergirl if he is featured.....can anyone tell me what issue of Supergirl this is the cover to?

Excited about UXM. I like the characters so much more than WXM and the art is more to my liking. Just as long as we keep Greg Land away...far away...

On the topic of UXM vs WaTXM, I prefer WaTXM. Just feels like an oldschool X-man comic. Humorous, threats, character development. The art is fine with me, not my favorite but the cartoony style fits it so well. Just makes you laugh and smile.

UXM is good but WaTXM is a blast to read.

Some upcoming issue. I've read all 4 so far and it's not any of the existing one. I think it has to be issue 7 or sooner, as I think DC only goes that far ahead in solicitations.

Daredevil #7 was another notch on its creative team's belt that can be held up against any other DD run ever. I really hope we get to see Rivera and Waid work together for at least another 12 to 20 issues, if not more. They are spinning magic right now; Martin has done the same.

5/5 for the most current issue. Love seeing Matt flirting again, and being a hero in a different way altogether in this issue. Beautiful stuff. It's made me go back and check out Karl Kessel's run, which was equally fun, with a focus on swashbuckling adventure over angst.

Batman #4 was pretty good too. For some reason, though, I just can't seem to care much about this story. I think I just might not like Batman as a character in comics. :-/

yo comics gaf, ive been out of the comics scene for the month and now ive returned. have i missed anything worthwhile?

Piling on the X-Men love. I got into comics thanks to DC's new 52 and I still read a bunch of those and love them, but growing up, X-Men was always my mainstay. These latest books that split off from Schism and UXF, just insanely good reading.

Really enjoyed the new Ult. SM, Miles is growing on me.

It's still in its infancy, but the ground work is done for the most part now, the next several issues that come out are what will really judge whether this is gonna be a flop or not.

WHOA!! That's like saying "Hey we're going to chop off your arms" and then saying "Just kidding! Here's 14.7 million dollars!!"

BRANDON PETERSON!!!!

Only seems like it's the one issue.

I remember someone once asking Marvel (Brevoort I think it was) why they keep giving Land work and the response was along the lines of , do you want him to go without a pay check ?

Greg Land doing 3 issues of UXM is making me drop that thing like a hot potato. Thankfully, we still have WATXM, where Kitty is pregnant by aliens and Wolverine/QQ go off to an intergalactic space casino to win money for the school.

But the next few issues of WatXM are drawn by Nick Bradshaw, who much of ComicsGAF utterly despises for reasons I don't quite get (his faces are too stylized and his style is too similar to Art Adams', apparently).

As for Land, he earned most of the criticism he got for his work on books like UFF and Ultimate Power, but his recent work (see the last five issues of UXM Vol. 1) has been fairly free of things like porn tracing and horribly inappropriate facial expressions. He's never going to be one of my favorite artists, but his current work is at least competent enough to not undermine a good script, and I have yet to read a bad one from Gillen.

I like Nick Bradshaw, besides making Wolverine look like a Bratz Doll.

The first panel is just lovely, with the way the school looks now and Doop's outfit is great.

The dartboard with Cyclops face and the scoreboard is a nice touch. Wolverine and Beast keeping score underneath is awesome

Who would have thought that with Henry and Logan both sitting at that table, it's Paige with the serious shedding problem. :lol

And how do you even accomplish that Batman pose? He's kneeling while leaning forward, but his knees aren't touching anything; how is he keeping his balance?!? No wonder he's grimacing, he's thinking about how much it's going to hurt once he takes a header off of that chimney/gun barrel/whatever.

One word: Liefeld

I've caught the Irredeemable bug somehow. I bought the first vol trade and decided to cop the rest.

On the topic of the Slott ASM, I think he's definitely my favorite writer in a long time (minus the BND teams), easily over Byrne and JSM abortions. My only gripe per say is how they've handled the designs of his classic villains. I'm sure it's just updating with the times, but I can't help but get the feeling that they'll be back to their original designs sooner or later. I'm only bringing this up because it's the second time they've redesigned a major villain (without posting spoiler).

Is anyone else reading DC Universe Presents?

I'm usually not a fan of Paul Jenkins (and Deadman) but I find myself enjoying every issue.
