so was the joke behind D Bryan's entrance music ever explained?

He is a nerd so he likes classical music?

Has he ever had entrance music that wasn't sort of a joke?

I guess its hard to have music for a guys who gimmick is being a good wrestler.

What was the backstory to his american dragon nickname?

Shades of ***** ******.

Ok, this match is kind of overkill. Trading backdrop drivers was dumb. As was Davey kicking out of a Tombstone followed by the Die Hard.

When he went to New Japan early in his career they put him under a dumb mask and called him 'American Dragon', but I guess it kind of stuck;

Davey Richards retains after beating the hell out of Eddie Edwards. Great 40+ minute match. Great show overall. This is wrestling indeed.

That was definitely some super Japanese level of "I'll top you" wrestling, but gotdamn, it was probably the last time they'll fight in ROH so they went for it all. Good stuff.

AND NOW STEEN IS BOUT TO KILL RICHARDS TOO

EDIT: Well, he'll kill him in 2012, but still.

Man, that match would even have been out of place on a NOAH card. I can understand them wanting to top their last match, but it was too much imo. Total overkill.

The finishing stretch was pretty fun though, and it was a great show overall. Plus Steen is fucking awesome.

Also, there were about 15 moves on the ring-frame tonight. Indy wrestling is wearing that shit out like it did with double-stomps and super-kicks.

It was pretty much a mixture of them trying to top the last match, and blowing off the series with both of them looking excessively strong. It WAS overkill, but I enjoyed it. Hopefully they don't fight again for years, if ever.

I've been noticing this as well. Even TNA has been doing it.

Yeah, I probably would have enjoyed it more had the show been a bit shorter and if it wasn't nearing 4:40am here by the time it finished :lol Someone on twitter pointed out that the whole show ran longer than WrestleMania.

Still, A Double hit the nail on the head with this tweet;

"@austinaries The art of pro wrestling is getting the most out of the least....not the other way around...."

Should have watched ROH, Kevin Kelly/Nigel McGuinness = announce team of the year.

Nigel's definitely improving a whole lot, I'd love to hear him use more cockney rhyming slang in the future though, lol. Kevin Kelly sounded sooooo outraged during the Corino/Steen post-match craziness, he really sold it well. My one complaint with Kelly is that sometimes he'll..........pause for no good reason in the middle of his sentences.

I think for me, the only matched that dragged a bit was the tag team gauntlet, but that was more about how they ordered it. We've seen C&C vs Bravados and Future Shock vs Young Bucks before. They could have mixed up the order a bit and had some team go longer from the opening. I think it would have done a lot for the Bucks if they had come out in the first two and won.

I agree, Boots. That match would have been looked at as excessive in All Japan Juniors in 1997-99.

I had fun watching it though, but I've been kinda down on Richards matches lately anyway.

Yeah it was 4 hours and change. Pretty insane for $15. They could probably do with keeping a 3 hour max limit though, especially since most people are watching this at their PC's. 3 and 1/2, maybe, but a legit 4+ hours is exhausting. It would also force them to pace the show better.

Wasn't sure if this has been mentioned but Meltzer is reporting that WWE officials are weighing the option to take the title off Punk due to the ratings slide.

Couple things that I don't understand:

- he's obviously popular live
- his merchandise is outselling Cena and Orton

Could just be Vince being Vince and going week to week with ratings...

Do we actually know that Punk's merchandise is currently outselling Cena's? I mean, I'm sure that new "Rise Above Hate" stuff is selling well.

This is purely based on Top Sellers on WWE Shop's website. I should clarify in that it's the top selling male/female t-shirt. Kids are still Cena of course.

Side note, I recently purchased a Cena and Punk t-shirt for my two little girls. Both are below the age of 4 and are already wrestling fans. They say the most interesting things .. a few things I've picked up, hope you guys enjoy.

- They go nuts for Cena. 3 year old likes Cena. 2 year old likes Punk.
- Mark Henry is "angry man"
- 3 year old thinks Vicky is Ziggler's mom
- They tune out for divas matches
- "Do you like the man named Cole?" .. "No, he is a yelling man"
- They saw the ad for the Steve Austin DVD and called him Big Show. We need Steve back in the mix ...

saw zack ryder at a local bar, he gave me a beer tap. the beer tap was cool, but he didn't make much of it. it's all good.

he was pretty wasted by the time i got there.

WOO WOO WOO, YOU KNOW IT!

The CM Punk "newsbit" is just a bullshit rumor started by a copy-and-paste website that's looking to get more hits.

As usual, some website takes an actual story from the Observer and turns it into something untrue by adding their own spin on it (in this case, "WWE looking to take the title off Punk~!").

So basically, much ado about nothing.

Taking the title off Punk was exactly what happened my fantasy booking that occurred a few hours ago as I was pondering ROH. Basically, it involves Danielson turning heel (the easiest way of getting a new champion over) and costing Punk the title and having them feud over the "Best in the World" with lots of promos about ROH and other smarky shit and eventually having Jericho return and create an all male three-way of awesome. Not that I'm the only one daydreaming of the impossibility of it all.

WWE 2012 PPV list, source is WWE Magazine:

1/29 – The Royal Rumble (St. Louis, MO)

2/19 – Elimination Chamber (Milwaukee, WI)

4/1 – WrestleMania 28 (Miami, FL)

4/29 – Extreme Rules (Chicago, IL)

99.9% chance I'll be at all four. Have always wanted to see the Rumble live and St. Louis is probably 5-6 hours away from here.

Same for Elimination Chamber except that's only an hour and a half away.

Wrestlemania is a lock (been to the last 6).

Chicago is my hometown so that's a lock as well.

Do ROH offer a legit way to view their shows other than streaming? I not stand streaming (mostly due my connection)

If the company went for a Lewis CK thing ($5 for a FRM file), I am sure they would make money from it.

Watching Smackdown and I find it odd after all these years, WWE still uses the same piped crowd noises that sound nothing like a live audience. Is it really that hard to add crowd noise that doesn't sound so obviously fake?

Also Sky Sports has censored Orton spraying Barrett with water for some reason. They always do freeze frame censors for weapon usage and brawling during their morning airings (for example Orton RKO'ing Barrett onto a car on this week's Smackdown) but that was just silly.

Above his burials, lack of calling moves, Twitter shilling, Vince-fed lines, above all that, I think the most unwatchable thing about Cole commentary is that he NEVER. SHUTS. UP.

Every second of every broadcast he's braying away with stupid insults, whining, repeated buzzwords. Everything is about him, how HE'S affronted or whatever, no matter what it is, he just blabbers on and on in your ear like a drill. He supposed to react to everything, not overpower it.

Just came around to upload an interview with "The Miz" I did a while ago. It's pretty fun, first he essentially took over and interviewed himself for a couple of minutes, then we talked about WWE 12 and his favorite videogames as a kid:

I guess I'm one of the few people who actually like Miz. Both in the ring and on the mic. Would be nice if he was actually booked once in a while to not come off as the fodder heel but I guess that's too much to ask for.

Hoping Punk loses the title soon enough. Quite frankly he's just an incredibly boring champ, I can see why people are literally turning the tv off in droves when he shows up.

Especially in a year when we've had such thrilling champions as Alberto Del Rio, John Cena and The Miz, yeah.

Fuck yes, yesterday's New Japan show is already up;

IWGP Jr. HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH;

07. Prince Devitt (c) vs Rocky Romero

IWGP INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH;

08. Masato Tanaka (c) vs Tomoaki Honma

Really good show, all the singles matches are excellent. The opener is another good contest between New Japan's Young Lions, while the Ten-Koji/Bad Intentions single matches build nicely for the tag title match at Wrestle Kingdom. Devitt defends his title against 'Azucar' Rocky Romero in a great Jr. Heavyweight Title bout, while Masato Tanaka defends the Intercontinental Title against Tomoaki Honma.

Honma fucking rules - I've always had a soft spot for him as he damn near killed himself for BJW back between 99-01, so it's awesome to see him in the main event and the push he's been receiving for the past few months.

I honestly haven't heard a thing about Generico leaving - he signed a new contract back in March when Sinclair bought ROH, so unless it was only for a year I can't see him going.

Also, I've got to laugh at all the supposed pro wrestling 'journalists' shitting over Steen/Corino and acting so surprised that a match like that was allowed to happen in this day and age. Firstly, did they not see Generico/Steen at last year's Final Battle? And secondly, ROH made it abundantly clear with the old Steve Corino making a return that the match would be an all out ECW-style war, full of unprotected chair-shots and "HOLY SHIT!" moments. I certainly wasn't expecting anything else.

I guess it would be more disapointed than surprised. At this point everyone knows it's a terrible idea to do that stuff.

So I skipped Smackdown, how have they handled Dabry's run so far?

Okay, the bolded two are genius.
